The buzzing of his phone cut through the early morning stillness, pulling Jorah from the depths of sleep. With a groggy hand, he fumbled for the device, secretly threatening to murder the person who dared to interrupt his sleep.
'Jade'. Was the person he would need to kill. Why was he calling him this early?
"Someone better be dying if you're calling me this early." Jorah's voice was thick with sleep.
"I can't believe you're doing it!" Jade crackled excitedly on the other end of the line. "After all that fuss you made about it I---"
"Jade, slow down." Jorah interjected as he pulled himself into a sitting position "You're not making any sense"
"Is this how you want to play it?" Jade countered "I was just kidding when I asked you to introduce me to your co-workers."
Jorah was still confused. "Co-workers? What are you talking about?"
"Why are you still playing dumb? I'm talking about your new series"
"New series...I-- don't---" Jorah's words evaporated.
"Quite a few people were texting me to ask me if it was true..if you were actually doing the series."
A sickening feeling was already growing in Jorah's stomach.
"I told them I don't see why not---I mean..."
"Jade." Jorah cut his friend off. "Send it to me."
"Mn..hold on.."
Less than 5 seconds later the message came.
He set the phone to hands free and accessed Jade's message.
Jorah's heart skipped a beat when he saw the headline screaming at him "JORAH JINDAYA CAST AS LEAD IN LIVE ACTION ADAPTATION OF NEW BOY LOVE SERIES, "THE PROTECTOR"
His confusion deepened into bewilderment, bewilderment skipped to anger. His eyes quickly scanned the article. More than the article, there were photos. There was a photo of himself, a photo of Nine and a photo of them together.
Jorah's brow pulled closer together. There was one photo that caught his interest the most, it was a photo from the meeting they'd had with Nine and the producers of the series.
A photo like this could have only been sent by someone who'd been in that room.
Those fuckers.
"Hello?" Jade spoke from the other line "Are you there?"
"Uh..Yeah." Jorah answered.
"Oh my gosh." Jade's excitement never waned. "I never imagined you in a role like this..but I'm kind of excited."
Clearly less enthused, Jorah replied "Jade...uh..let me call you back."
Without waiting for confirmation he hung up, his eyes transfixed on the article.
