Norris' mother smiled at him when he walked into the room.
"Are you hungry?" his mother asked as he wrapped her in a warm embrace.
He shook his head. "I'm fine." He kissed her cheek "How are you feeling?"
"Fine," his mother replied. "My legs hurt a little but not more than usual."
Norris frowned. "You should take a break from work."
Her eyes were still smiling when she looked at him. "Look at you, my sweet boy, worrying about me. Your father would be proud."
Norris' gaze dropped. He hoped so. With his father gone, it was his job to take care of his mother and younger sister. Leaving them behind to pursue his acting career had felt like a betrayal, but his mother had threatened to sulk perpetually if he hadn't gone to the audition for "The Protector."
Getting the part had been bittersweet. It was his first real job, but it also meant time away from his family during filming.
He was glad to finally be back since he couldn't leave during filming but he also had to go back soon if he was going to audition for more roles.
"Seya is still at school?" he enquired about his younger sister.
"She should be back late. She got a job at the convenience store at the gas station.
"But she should be focusing on school," Norris protested.
"Well you know she can be pretty stubborn sometimes." his mother said. "She reminds me of someone I know."
"You?" Norris teased.
"Me. Right. Just like me." his mother laughed. "Oh by the way. I've been meaning to ask. Whatever happened to that young man?"
"What young man?" Norris asked.
"I called a few months ago. He said you were sick and he was taking care of you.."
Norris wrinkled his brow for a moment.
"I invited him to dinner. As a thank you gift for taking care of you." his mother went on.
"Huh?" Norris was confused. Gage had never mentioned speaking with his mother. And she'd invited him to dinner? Did she have any idea who she'd spoken to? Gage was one of the hottest young actors around. Why would he come to his family house for dinner?
He shook his head feeling embarrassed that his mother had even asked but he took comfort in knowing it would never happen.
"He sounded like a nice young man." His mother looked at him. "A friend of yours?"
Norris furrowed his brow in thought. He still wasn't sure he could call Gage 'a friend.'
To date, he'd scolded him repeatedly. Attempted to teach him how to kiss. Taken care of him when he was sick. Scolded him again. Invited him to his place for dinner and gave him his clothes to wear.
Did that mean they were friends?
"Uh..he's my colleague." Norris replied. "I met him at work."
His mother nodded. "I see. No wonder." she replied "When I invited him to dinner, he thanked me for the invite but said he couldn't make it." she sighed a little "It figures. You actors are probably busier than you know what to do with yourself." she looked at Norris. "Soon that will be you."
Norris shook his head. "I don't think so."
"Of course." she beamed at him. "Just don't forget to visit."
"Never" he kissed her cheek again. "You're my favourite girl."
His mother grinned. "Speaking of girls." his mother didn't miss a beat. "Haven't you found a girl you like yet?"
