A vintage car that has a drop top so that we can cruise through the bustling city at night is the perfect carriage for a date. Jays car is light blue, I can feel the warm breeze throwing my hair back as he drives us past all of the palm trees. The hours of sun that we have enjoyed has now past and it is beginning to set, leaving behind a warm orange glow.
It's still warm and I'm wearing my pale blue bikini top with daisies printed on it and a pair of high waisted loose fitted jeans and trainers. I glance down at my treble clef tattoo on my ribs and smile, it's healed fully.Jay is wearing a shirt which he hasn't done up, it's pale blue and I chuckled when I saw him pull it on because we are wearing the same colour. He has a lot more tattoos than me, he almost has a full sleeve on one of his arms and he has several over his chest. They suit him, they're edgy and they add to his body. He has some tribal patterns, intricate vines and a few butterflies. He also has a very tiny wave on his hip which he says was a shoutout to when he used to be into swimming and surfing. Sometimes I just stare at the patterns and I have to remind myself that staring is actually kind of rude. Even though he is mine, completely and utterly.
He lights up a cigarette and passes it to me. He then lights up his own and I smile watching him push his blonde hair back, driving one handed whilst smoking his cigarette.
"Stop looking at me like that or I'm going to pull over and have my way with you" he laughs glancing at me and then looking back at the road.
I smirk and look out at the ocean in the distance. The sun falling under the horizon line. And I can't imagine sharing this moment with anybody else.
"You look hot" he says smiling.
"I do ?" I ask him slightly shyly.
"Fuck yes Taylor. You're literally wearing a bra out. However you still look super classy" he smiles and winks at me.
I push my brunette hair over my shoulders and he looks briefly at my neck, I feel the heat in my cheeks and realise I'm blushing.
He finds a place to park amidst all of the other cars. The sea is just down the road and I intend on visiting it later with Jay. I am wearing a bikini after all. I can hear the waves crashing into the shore even from this distance. He takes my hand casually his shirt swaying open in the breeze revealing his chest.
He guides me into a rowdy restaurant/bar that has a sign outside informing the public that they serve the best cocktails in town. I am sure that I can be a good judge of that claim.
The food smells divine, it's Mexican and they are playing dance music over the speakers. There are a few patrons at the bar and overall the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. I'm sure this is a place where people end up dancing on tables and I'm here for that.
"Sir madam, welcome. Table for two?" The owner says welcoming us, he has a warm smile and seems friendly.
We nod and Jay follows him to a table by the windows which looks out over the ocean views in the distance.
"I already know what you're getting" I say smiling up at Jay from my menu.
"Am I that typical?" He laughs.
"No I just know you by now Jay" I laugh back.
"Go on then" he says reaching his hands to touch mine.
"Steak" I smile back at him rubbing his arms. Jay would eat steak forever and not be bored. He loves it when I cook him steak.
"You got me." He laughs.
"I'm however going for enchiladas something tells me that here they will be amazing" I say smiling.
When the waitress comes to collect our order, I ask for a Pina colada. It's time to judge that claim of best cocktails in the whole of town. I briefly think about Rachel and smile at how she would behave in this place. I'm sure that she would be taking shots at the bar.
"What are you smiling at" he laughs.
"Rach. Just how she would be drunk already if she were here" I say to him and he scoffs.
"She sure would" he sighs.
The Pina colada comes, and I must say I'm impressed when I look at it. It has a pink straw and a wedge of pineapple, really the way it is presented is gorgeous.
"Hey wait" Jay smiles grabbing his phone and aiming his camera at me.
He takes a snap of me with my drink and I demand to see it. He passes me the phone and I look at myself. Jay is right, tonight I do look hot. My tanned skin and long brown hair which trails way past my chest.
"You're beautiful, get used to it" he smirks looking at me.
I smirk back at him and turn the camera around to him. Taking a few snaps of him sitting there with his shirt open. This place is past the whole no smoking inside rule and he lights up and stretches his arm behind the chair next to him relaxed. I get the urge to climb onto his lap but I suppress it for now. Not here.
I pass him his phone, and he glances at the snaps and laughs.
"I like your picture better" he says and there is that stare again. The one that makes me yearn to be in his personal space, his hands all over me pulling me into him.
He sends me my pic and I break the rules and head on over to social media. I tell him I'm making it my profile pic and he chuckles.
"But it is a good pic; and I'm only uploading a picture" I say."Tay do as you please, enjoy yourself. There are no rules" he says.
I upload the picture and quickly check up on what's been going on in my feed. A few pictures of the others at parties, I smile suddenly feeling like I miss our friends just a little. But not any of the drama. I place my phone back down and ignore it again. Looking back up at Jay and how he is casually sitting and smoking. It strikes me how relaxed and happy he looks. Not that he isn't happy back home. But just how chilled he is, it's refreshing.
Our mains arrive and he orders me another Pina colada. I hadn't realised how easy it was to drink. I'm now convinced that they are the best cocktails in town.
The food is exquisite and as we are finishing up and thinking about what desert we want the bar gets busier. All of the tables around us are filled and the atmosphere is spot on.
We order a trio of deserts to share. Jay scoops up some of the chocolate ice cream and spoons it into my mouth. I smile at him feeling just a little bit tipsy.
"You are so sexy" he says smiling scooping up some salted caramel cake.
He feeds me it and I am transfixed by him, there's a lot of people around us but when I'm with him, I only ever see him.
"You know you need to eat too" I smile at him.
"Here you go babe" I say feeding him back. He swallows keeping my eye contact and then we both laugh.
I'm sure that we make lots of people feel sick, maybe we even make some people sigh remembering the love that they used to share with their spouse when it was young and fresh. We're in that stage whereby everything is intense and exciting, even though we've been together now for a year Jay manages to keep everything special.
