We are greeted by front of house at the dining room. Everybody is dressed exquisitely and even the walls glitter and gleam.
There's a small live orchestral band and a pianist. Their music fills the room and I smile up at Jay. He looks down at me and squeezes my hand lightly. We're seated on a table close to the band, the waiter pulls my chair out for me and I smile and take a seat.
The tablecloths are linen white and they're several sets of cutlery. Jay passes me the menu first and I peruse it noticing that there are dishes on it that I've never even come across. And I cook myself.
"Okay for starters, can I eat oyster?" I laugh.
"Of course so long as they are cooked" he smiles.
"No raw fish" I say smiling and then go on to eye up the mains.
"I'll join you with oysters actually" he smiles.
"Jay they have steak" I smile looking up at him.
"They do huh?" He smiles.
"Mhmm" I say looking at the pasta.
"Truffle pasta is a temptation that I cannot resist" I say handing him the menu.
I watch him look over the menu, he's so confident and self assured. He takes one look and then sets the menu back down. The waiter promptly comes over to our table.
"May I take your starters?" He asks
"Two oysters" Jay says and then proceeds to order a whiskey for himself. He motions for me to order my drink.
"May I have a virgin pina colada" I say.
"Certainly" the waiter says and promptly goes to get our drinks.
Jay lounges back exuding confidence. I marvel at him. The way he is always just himself. I suppose that he is used to places such as this; he grew up with wealth and privilege. It doesn't phase him, he could be chilling in his local pizza place for all he cares. Me however, I did not grow up eating out in places such as these, so whilst he is lounging and relaxing I am looking around the room like I'm in a museum. I always make a point of noticing the art in places.
There are huge paintings, the kind that are in gilded frames. I suppose they are originals, and I'm staggered by the amount of fine art there is in this hall.
Jay catches my eye looking at a painting that looks as though it's in the style of Claude Monet. It's romantic and beautiful, the colours melting into one another.
"We should go to a museum, the musee de l'orangerie in Paris has some originals" he says softly.
"Oh you're going to have to say more French sounding things" I laugh.
"Why?" He chuckles
"It was incredibly sexy" I smile keeping his eye contact.
"I can speak French" he laughs.
"You can speak French?! Fluently?" I say laughing.
"Why is that such a shock to you, I'm not a total Neanderthal." He teases.
"Prove it" I smile.
"Taylor, vous êtes si belle. je vais te faire l'amour toute la nuit" he says softly his eyes watching mine. I melt in my seat.
"Oh I have no idea what you said, but I agree wholeheartedly because that was super hot" I laugh.
"What did you say" I laugh.
"Taylor you are so beautiful I am going to make love to you all night long" he smiles.
"Mmmm" I smile looking down at my plate.
"I love that you have that skill, I can't believe I didn't know that" I laugh.
"I'm full of surprises. Mum had me take French lessons, something about it opening up your options to know different languages" he smirks.
"It sure does open up lots of options" I laugh.
Our starters arrive and Jay checks that mine are thoroughly cooked. They taste wonderful of course, I try my best to eat them delicately but the baby hunger takes over.
After we have finished them Jay orders our mains. And we have another drink each.
"What other hidden skills do you have" I ask him.
"I think you know them all by now" he chuckles being modest.
"Oh I'm not sure that I do" I laugh.
"Okay" he smiles.
"I can do this thing with my tongue" he begins and I smile.
"Let's see" I smile.
"I'll show you later" he smiles and I blush.
"Ohhh I know that trick" I laugh.
Our mains arrive saving him from my probing. Truffle pasta is my heaven, but truffle pasta here dining with Jay is even better.
"Steak good?" I ask him.
"Not as good as yours" he winks.
"Such a charmer" I smile.
"How's your pasta" he smiles
"Far better than the truffle pasta I cook" I laugh.
"Try it" I say scooping some up for him. I hold my hand under the spoon and feed him.
"Mmm" he says after he's tasted it.
"That's very good" he laughs.
I finish before him and he looks up astounded, usually he would be finished way before me.
"Here" he says and he places his fries in front of me. I can't escape my hunger and I eat.
Once I look up he's watching me, smile spread across his lips.
"Stop it, I'm gonna get fat at this rate" I laugh.
"No you're pregnant" he says.
"I think that's a myth" I say.
"Eating for two" I laugh.
"You eat as much as you like" he smiles.
"Dessert?" He says and I smile.
