Chapter 74- "don't drift away from each other"

*Jade's pov*

Today's the day.

And by 'the day' I mean the day I have to leave for University, leave Niall, leave everyone I love behind. My bag is packed and I'm currently sitting on the bed just staring at the wall trying to figure out a positive of leaving. Yeah...I can't find one.

"You alright?" Niall mutters from the doorway, looking down at his hands.

"I'm fine," I reply, although it feels like I'm being strangled and I have to force the words out.

"I'm not," he mumbles and I see a small tear drop fall from his face onto his hand.

I run up to him and hold him close to me as he cries into my shoulder which of course makes it harder for me not to cry too.

"It's so unfair," he says, gripping onto my t-shirt.

"I know Ni but I'll be back, i'd never leave you," I sigh, watching my tears soak into his shirt.

"What will I do?" he asks pulling away and looking at me.

"What do you mean?" I say, looking into his blue eyes.

"How will I live without you for such a long time?" he mutters as I brush away one of his tears.

It's in this moment that I just completely break down. It seems so stupid to be crying over this but I can't help it, it actually physically hurts to think of leaving him behind for even a day never mind three years.

I sit on the floor holding my face in my hands not looking at him.

I fee his warm arms wrap around me and he carries me to bed laying me down and getting next to me before holding me into his chest and letting me cry.

"I'm sorry," I mutter running my fingers over the rim of his shirt.

"Don't be," he says, kissing the top of my head.

"It's my fault", I sigh closing my eyes as I listen to the rain against the windows.

"It is what it is Jade. I'll never leave you-"

"And I'll never leave you either," I cut in.

"Then don't worry," he soothes, wiping away my tears.

"I'll miss you so much," I say trying so hard not to let the tears fall again.

"And i'll miss you even more," he says and I see him biting his lip to hold his tears back.

Suddenly, he sits me up and turns me to face him before holding onto my hands and looking me dead in the eyes.

"When i'm up on that stage and i'm looking across all the faces in that crowd you will be the only one i'm ever thinking of. I won't stop loving you because of distance and I won't leave you I promise. We just have to look forward to when you get back and officially become Mrs Horan," he smiles.

I nod, smiling back at him and pecking his lips gently.
Me and Niall told the fans about our engagement and the majority are happy so now I can't wait to be married.

*Cara's pov*

"Today is going to be so hard," I say to Zayn.

"I know, but you'll see her again," Zayn assures.

"In three years. Three years of my life i'll be without her. If I can't deal with that then imagine how Niall feels," I sigh.

"He's in a bad way at the minute. I don't really know how he'll cope when she leaves," Zayn replies, coming over to me and giving me a hug.
