The blonde girl's piercing blue eyes locked onto (Y/n) the moment she stepped out of the classroom. Emi didn't seem surprised to see her, but her expression was far from welcoming. Rolling her eyes, she pushed off the wall and shoved her phone into her pocket. "Finally," Emi grumbled, her tone laced with irritation. "I've been waiting here for the past hour."

(Y/n) blinked in confusion, her brows furrowing as she tried to make sense of the situation. Why on earth would Emi, of all people, be waiting for her? As if sensing her bewilderment, the boys followed her out of the classroom, stopping just behind her. All except for Asahi and Souta, who walked right past the girls without so much as a glance, disappearing down the hall until they were out of sight. Still perplexed, (Y/n) pointed to herself, silently asking if Emi's words were meant for her. Emi responded with a curt nod, as if it should have been obvious. Before (Y/n) could voice her confusion, Kai leaned in close, his voice a low whisper in her ear.

"I asked if Emi could stay and give you a ride home," he murmured.

(Y/n) turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting Kai's. His expression was soft, his gaze filled with concern. She hadn't realized how much he'd been looking out for her today, and the gesture -though unexpected - warmed her tired heart. But the thought of spending any more time with Emi, especially after the day she'd had, made her want to groan.

Emi, noticing the silent exchange between them, sighed loudly, crossing her arms over her chest. "Are you coming or not?"

(Y/n) glanced back at Kai, who gave her a subtle nod of encouragement. Despite her fatigue, she found herself nodding in agreement. "Yeah, okay," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of resignation. She could always sleep when she got home, but for now, she could see the effort Kai had put into arranging this, and she didn't want to dismiss it.

As Emi's eyes met Kai's for a brief moment, something unspoken passed between them. With a curt nod, she turned and started down the hallway, her strides long and purposeful. (Y/n) had to pick up her pace just to keep up, her footsteps echoing loudly in the nearly empty school building. The girl couldn't quite place why, but something about Emi's demeanor felt... off. The blonde's usual cool indifference was replaced with something more strained, something that made (Y/n) feel like she was walking on eggshells.

The sound of Emi's boots clicking against the floor was the only noise that filled the space as they made their way toward the main doors. (Y/n) found herself matching Emi's pace, her heart beating a little faster as she tried to keep up with the taller girl. What was the rush? And more importantly, what was wrong?

Emi flipped her hair over her shoulder with a practiced, almost unconscious motion as they finally reached the main entrance. The doors loomed ahead, and (Y/n) felt a strange sense of relief as they pushed through them and stepped out into the late afternoon air. But that relief was short-lived as they continued on in silence, heading toward the parking lot.

When they finally arrived at Emi's car, (Y/n) couldn't help but take a moment to appreciate it. With a small sigh, (Y/n) opened the passenger door and climbed in, settling into the seat as Emi slid into the driver's side. The engine roared to life, and within seconds, the car was filled with the familiar beats of 2000s pop music playing through the Bluetooth. (Y/n) glanced around, taking in the car's interior with a mix of curiosity and unease. Then, a nagging thought crept into her mind - she hadn't given Emi her address.

Her unease turned into mild alarm when Emi drove past the first turn that would have led to her house. (Y/n)'s brows furrowed as she looked over at the blonde, who seemed entirely focused on the road ahead, her jaw set in a way that made (Y/n) hesitant to ask what was going on. But she had to know.
