I can admit when I fuck up.. most times.. but this? This is a monumental disaster.
In the midst of coming to terms with Abbie being pregnant with twins from Damon and Derek.. I completely forgot they were coming here.. because of me.
And it's too late to run.
I helped Abbie with the girls this morning, before coming down to make breakfast. Standing in my kitchen, Damon and Derek both stood, shirtless and making themselves right at home.
I couldn't even bring myself to yell at them for treating my house like there's, when Abbie was vibrating with rage.. and I mean literally vibrating.
The second we walked in, and realized we weren't dreaming, her entire body began to shake. I wanted to run. I've never been scared of anything since becoming a vampire, but standing beside her and knowing what can happen when she gets overwhelmed had me ready to run for the hills.
I carefully grab Haidyn from her, not wanting to send her into a homicidal rage and taking the girls to Derek.
"Give her whatever she asks for. I don't care if you get your feelings hurt, just do it and don't ask questions." He gives me a look, accepting both girls into his arms.
"Sour wolf!"
"Dada!" Both girls squeeze his neck, which warms my heart. I know they have their shit going on, but Abbie has to admit that he's a damn good dad and uncle. These girls love him and I have no doubt he loves them just as much.
Sparing a glance at Abbie, she's stopped shaking but I'm guessing she's not willing to let go of that rage yet and spins to Damon.
Fuck! I haven't had a chance to warn him.
"Morning, Princess. Sit down. Breakfast will be ready in a minute." He calls over his shoulder, completely oblivious to her pending meltdown.
"Aves, grab the girl's plates on the counter." The retort to tell him to do himself is on the tip of my tongue, but I swallow it down and do as I was told.
Maybe Abbie killing him wouldn't be so bad.
"Dam!" All eyes swing to Hope, who wiggles around the counter. "Little girl words, Munchkin." Derek says gently, booping her nose and I swear my heart swoons.
Abbie walks over to them, holding her hands out for Hope. "She wants Damon." Abbie heads for the refrigerator, making no move to give Hope what she wants.
Damon isn't having that though. He steps into her path, blocking the refrigerator. Abbie growls, stepping to the right but he follows.
"Enough, Damon!" She snaps, shouldering past him, but he just leans back on the fridge to stop her from opening it. Reaching around her and plucking Hope from her, he points to the table. "Go sit. I'll bring your food over."
I'm stunned when Abbie whips around and listens to him. Only, she glares pure death at me, but stops when Derek stops her.
"You okay? Something seems different." Abbie swallows hard, shifting on her feet. "I'm fine." She goes to move past him, but he grips her hip, keeping her close and that's when I see it. I don't know how I missed it yesterday, maybe because I wasn't expecting her to already be showing, but she is.
Isn't 10 weeks a bit early to be showing? Is she showing because it's twins? Fuck.. I'm so screwed.
"Was it the blood bags? I had one earlier from the fridge and I think they're a bad batch." Derek asks. Mine and Abbie's spine both stiffen, as Damon spins around. "That was animal blood. Trust me.. you'll only make that mistake once."
