A/N So..... I was originally going to give you guys a Marjoreece chapter today, but in light of last night's events and my love of all things Wintumn you are getting a Wintumn chapter instead. Wintumn is definitely one my favorite couples, and I knew they would elope because a real life Wintumn-esque couple is very dear to me.
TW: insinuation of miscarriage
Christmas 2024
Autumn was awake long after Winter had fallen asleep. She laid there looking at this man whom she loved so dearly and so deeply. It seemed almost unreal to her that in just over a year so many things had changed. She had a love and a happiness she never imagined was possible for her, but then Winter came along with his unconditional love and a tenderness that she never thought existed. He managed to breakdown her hard exterior and willingly peered into the soft, too gentle for this world, damaged, and vulnerable abyss of her soul.
They had started things frantically ripping at each other's clothing and ravenously devouring each other, and then it became more. She still couldn't pinpoint the moment or the day, but she knew that after it happened she was more afraid to lose him than she was to let him in. She had to surrender herself to him. He never wanted anything more from her than just her whole heart and soul. Something about him made it surprisingly easy to give in to it. So, she did.
She still stiffened when anyone else touched her. She wasn't miraculously a different person. She wasn't healed, but in his arms she was home. Winter Fortune had changed her, and he had changed her for good. In his eyes she was seen. She was loved. She was exalted. If she knew about him years ago, Autumn Fortune-Knight would definitely have been doodled all over every diary she ever owned.
She realized this was better. She had him now when she was ready, and she was never letting go again. The only thing she wished for now was that their baby had been there to celebrate this Christmas with them.
She sat up and her eyebrows furrowed. She slipped quietly into the en suite bathroom. Where had she put the damn thing? She searched every drawer and cupboard and finally found it tucked behind some towels. She pulled it from the box and just stared at it for a moment. Could it be? Should she? She did.
When she looked at the test window, she clasped her hands over her mouth and sobbed. She crept back out to the bed and softly kissed him. He dozily smiled at her. "Merry Christmas, Winter Fortune-Knight, your going to be a daddy!" His eyes brightened as she fell into his arms.
In the early morning hours of Christmas 2024 they were elated.
They could worry about their fears and concerns tomorrow.
