Sorscha woke to Aidan wailing from his crib. She felt around the bed with her eyes still closed. No Clodagh. She popped out of the bed and stumbled down the hall. As she turned in the room, he suddenly stopped wailing and started to giggle.
"Is it funny to give mom a fright? I suppose it would be if I were you." She scooped him up and couldn't help but smile. When she turned around to Quinn stood in the door, she jumped with a slight squeal not expecting the girl to be there. Quinn was always quiet. "Quinnie, you alright?" The small girl looked like she was about to cry. "It is okay, baby, you just startled mom."
She bent down and scooped up the little girl with her other arm. She got them both changed and ready for their day before she finally descended the stairs. They got to the base of the stairs just as the door swung open and Clodagh popped through carrying bags from the shop.
"Oh, good morning, babe, I was hoping to get back before they woke. I am sorry." Sorscha waved her apology away as she settled the two down with some toys in the lounge. "I ran into Winter at the shop. Evidently Autumn is craving more than just sausage rolls this time around."
With the bags unloaded and the items put away, Sorscha pulled her into an embrace. "Good morning, babe." Clodagh smiled as she leaned in and place a gentle kiss on Sorscha's lips. They both jumped at the loud knock on the door. "I'll get it."
Sorscha swung the door open to all three Serpents stood there with smiles on their faces. "Hiya, we weren't expecting you this morning, were we?" Neither Siobhan nor Vivian ever showed up unannounced, but she didn't recall making plans with them either. Had she forgot with the stress of school and work?
Siobhan spoke first. "No, and we apologize for just popping in, but we were heading out for the day and Jamey really wanted to invite Quinn." She leaned in and whispered, "we're going to the Space Museum."
"Oh, right, let me just grab Clodagh and make sure we've got no other plans." She got Clodagh from the kitchen and they both returned. "Looks like it will be a day in for us, so she can go if, you're sure."
Siobhan looked to Viv who nodded. "We'll just need her safety seat and anything she might need for a day out."
Once Quinn had left with the Serpents Sorscha pulled Clodagh back in. "Where were we?" Just as their lips connected again, they were interrupted by another loud knock on the door.
As Sorscha swung it open exasperated she shouted, "oh for Pete's sake what is it?" Carly took a step back. Sorscha hadn't seen her in a few weeks and was a bit surprised at how much her bump had grown. "Sorry, Carly, what is it?"
Two unannounced visitors in one day. Sorscha wondered how their friend group's boundaries had started to blur. They were only really close with the Serpents and the Fortune-Knights, so Carly being stood there was a bit of a shock.
"I was wondering if we might take Aidan out for the day?" Carly still looked a bit leery to talk, but Sorscha waved her in before turning to Clodagh. With a quick nod Sorscha went to prepare a bag for him to be out for a few hours. She found the whole thing rather odd, bit she trusted her young friend and knew that he would be safe with her.
"We're alone, Clo. We haven't been for ..." she searched her mind for the exact time but couldn't recall. "A long time. What are we gonna do without them?"
The usually soft spoken and angelic Clodagh got a devilish look in her eye. "I can think of something." She gave her wife a wink and bounded up the stairs. The meaning was not lost on Sorscha. She certainly wasn't about to wait for another knock on the door. She turned, locked the door, and with a smile on her face ran up the stairs.
