"She isn't saying anything, but she is hurt, Mia!"

"Char, we can afford to retain Sorscha, and we should. She has been with the nursery nearly ten years! Why on earth is Marjorie fighting this?"

Mia didn't get it, and Char was feeling frustrated. "Mia she isn't. She isn't even against retaining Sorscha. You keep doing this. You talk to you best friend, your sister and your wife and you leave her out! She is on the board. She runs one of the nurseries and she has been with the nursery longer than any of us!"

They were whisper shouting, but it was definitely an argument. They didn't argue often, but Mia hated it when they did. After her years with Reece and all the battles they had, Charlotte had been a breath of fresh air. She was emotional, but not overly and she kept a level head most of the time. Even when she was upset with her, she was always kind to her. Sometimes it drove her crazy but most of the time she was grateful not to have days long battles. She enjoyed confrontation, but not with Char.

With Char things were simple and somehow that was refreshing. She knew Char was right, but she still wasn't ready to admit that she had been undermining Marjorie just for the drama. She wasn't even really sure why she still longed for it, and she was sure it was something she should talk to Veronica about. Especially now that it was causing grief between her and Charlotte.

She and Marjorie had had their moments. Brief glimpses of truly becoming friends, and she knew that made Charlotte happy. Hell it made her happy to some extent, but she just couldn't stop pushing Marjorie's buttons.

"Char, I will talk to her, okay?"

Charlotte wished sometimes she had the ability to stay mad at her, but she seldom could. Neither of them could. She had seen the lengths of Mia's ability to hold a grudge, but Mia never could against her.

Mia saw the look on her face and wanted to lighten the mood, so she reached across the island and tweaked Char's nipple. "Let's go to bed."

"Amelia!"

They dashed up the stairs and into their room. The children had long been asleep, but any noise and they would risk waking them, so they stifled laughter along the way. As soon as they entered the room Mia grabbed Char and drew her in. "I can't stay mad at you. It is really frustrating." Her words did not match her expression, and that was not lost on Char.

She pushed Mia on to the bed and climbed on top of her. "Your mine, and you love it! Don't try to act like you don't. I could have my way with you anytime I want.

And she did. Many times, before entangling herself back into Mia's sleepy arms for another night of blissful sleep.

Later today there will be a special Mialotte art installation. Look for it on instagram and TikTok @artbywill79
