Eric had asked her to come round at 6p to meet with his parents. She was going to go to Marjorie and Reece's after that because they were closer. Mia had also offered their home in town if she wanted to be along, but she really missed everyone and would rather stay with them. Carly hadn't missed the wink, but she wasn't getting into that with Mia.
She and Eric actually hadn't gone there yet, and she was happy to wait awhile longer. She wasn't being a prude. She just hadn't gone there with anyone yet. It wasn't a religious thing. She was just surrounded by so many couples that had a love that was inspiring, she wanted to make sure that was what they had before giving into desires. She was also fully aware that none of those couples had taken that route, but for her it only seemed right.
She pulled her hair straight back and did her makeup before pulling the elastic back out of her hair. Maybe she would wear it down. She wanted to impress on Courtney that she had changed as much as Eric. Courtney hadn't cared for Carly much to begin with, but after she caught wind of some comments, she had made her dislike of the girl a lot more evident.
She changed her outfit eleven times and at this point Lynn and Lucy were rolling on the floor. She knew she was being ridiculous, and she couldn't really put her finger on why she cared so much about what Courtney thought. She didn't really seem like the type of person to forgive and forget anything, so the likelihood of her taking Carly at 19 and not seeing Carly at 17 was slim.
She pulled into the drive and Eric met her to walk in together. "Hello, Mr. Gorgeous." The nickname made him blush, but he rather liked it. His parents were still upstairs getting ready, so he took the opportunity to steal a moment for a kiss. They traveled home together the day before yesterday, but he missed her so much already. She realized in that moment she had missed him too.
They sat on the sofa together and she was fidgeting quite a bit. "Did you tell your mom it was me? Like Eric does she know it is Carly from the nursery?" Her insecurity regarding his mum tickled him, but he reassured her that everything was going to be okay.
They heard footsteps on the landing and Carly felt her stomach flip. She held his hand tightly. A man descended first, and Eric introduced them. His dad was called Tom. The woman standing behind the towering man was who she was feeling less happy about seeing again. As Tom stepped away, there stood ... Agatha?!
