Siobhan woke Vivian with soft kisses spread across her face. "Wake up! We have a big day, Viv!" Vivian grumbled her way out of the bed, but she couldn't hide her smile from Siobhan. She couldn't really hide anything from Siobhan.
Their morning went quickly and soon the three were in the car and on the road. "Siobhan, you missed the turn off for the courthouse." Siobhan just stayed silent and continued to drive, but Vivian began to panic. "Bon Bon if you are freaking out or you don't want to do this today, we can talk about it." Siobhan let out a small chuckle. "Relax Viv."
They continued driving for nearly an hour while Vivian fretted but didn't ask again what was going on. She was mostly afraid for the answer. Had Siobhan decided she didn't want to get married? As they pulled into a car park, Vivian saw a familiar car. "Siobhan, what is going on? Why is Reece here?"
"Viv, I honestly don't know. I wasn't expecting anyone to be here and the only person I spoke to about this place was Autumn. I wasn't running away from the marriage, Viv. I was running away from the courthouse. This is the chapel where Autumn and Winter were married. I wanted you to have more than a courthouse marriage. I know you would have liked a big wedding, and I just wanted you to have something ... some part of that."
"Bon I would marry you in a cow pasture if it meant I got to be married to you. I love you. You are everything I hoped I would find someday." The shortened version of "Bon Bon" always caught her off guard. The way Vivian said it was almost always smoldering. She pulled her into a deep kiss, and then said, "let's go get married!"
As they passed Reece in the car park, they notice things were tense. "You alright, Reece?" Vivian spoke.
"Yeah, you three?" He did not look convincing. He was so upset he really couldn't be bothered to feign either. He just couldn't understand. He could see the look in Siobhan's eyes. "Go on then. Talk to her," he said waving his hand toward the car. Viv didn't know what had happened, but her heart hurt for him. She led him away from the car and began, "okay, Reece, we have been friends for a while now. Cut the act and tell me what is happening."
He honestly didn't know where to start. He told her how he had gotten Emery up, ready, and out the door to Charlotte before Marjorie even woke. Then he slyly convinced her to wear a dress they had bought in France, and then drove them here without her really knowing what was going on. "She just said she can't." He rolled his eyes before dropping his head into his hands.
"Why can't she"
"I don't know"
"Well, did you ask her?"
"No, I got out of the car and then you three came along."
She took this as her cue to roll her own eyes. "You know Siobhan and I sometimes have gaps in our communication. If she is refusing to marry you, she has something going on. That girl loves you more than life itself, Reece. I would be willing to bet she absolutely wants to marry you. She is probably just struggling with something and doesn't know how to talk about it yet. You can help her with that Reece" He nodded his head and gave her a hug before walking back to the car.
He tapped on the window of Siobhan's side. He could tell that she hadn't been forthcoming with their friend either. He looked back at Siobhan, Vivian, and Jamey. "Congratulations you three!" He ducked back into the vehicle before they could respond.
"Gorgeous what ever is going on we can fix it but not if you won't talk to me."
"Reece, you didn't let me finish. You just got out of the car. I said I can't. I can't marry you until you knew what was going on with me. Until you knew what I know. Reece, I know we decided after Emery that we wouldn't have more children. I understand your concerns and I agreed with you, but things have changed now."
"You want to have more children? Marjorie we can talk about that, but it isn't a reason to not get married today. I will always hear you out on any thing. Marjorie, I love you and I want to marry you. I want you to share my last name. The name we gave to our son. I want to act like Winter and use any excuse to call you my wife. Moreover, I want you to be my wife"
"Darling, I didn't say I wanted more children. I said things had changed now. Reece, I am pregnant."
"What? But how? We use birth control. I mean your on birth control. We use precautions. We ..." She saw the moment his mind put two and two together. "The antibiotics. Emery's birthday. Oh my god, Marjorie we're gonna have another baby!"
Smiles spread across both their faces, and he wrapped his arm around her. This baby hadn't been planned, but they wanted him or her more than either of them had realized.
For years to come they would share an elegant meal with the Serpents to celebrate their shared anniversary, but for them, this was the day they became the Knight family of four.
