Shiro and Keith flew their ships off towards an moon that was left as the agreed meeting point for the Jedi. Both landing with a decent distance away from each other's ship's to stop them becoming easy targets if an bounty hunter or the empire do come across them. Neither Shiro nor Keith expected the other to rat them out but they both understood the empire was still hunting down Jedi's, meaning the one they're hoping to meet with might be being chased as they arrive to the moon.
Katie didn't argue or hold much say, leaving it to the brothers to come up with a form of agreement and act overly paranoid together. She happily kept herself distracted with spoiling Rover with plenty of affection and her full attention. Having missed him dearly when she was away and happy to know he'd finally be safe from the empire hands soon enough.
Shiro finds himself distracted once landing the ship and finishing his speaking with his brother over coms by watching his family. He wasn't sure if fate would allow him to keep the found family he's been blessed with but he hoped he got to keep it long enough to keep the fond memories that'd last a lifetime.
"Do you think we're doing right by him?" Katie asked, an storm of emotions in her eyes as she looks at Rover but clearly seeing something much different instead.
"He's alive. He's happy. His stomach is full. He's sheltered. He's protected. He's clothed. He's loved and cherished. No youngling would need more" Shiro calmly stated as he moved to sit beside her, watching their son happily play with favourite frog teddy.
"But am I selfish for wanting to stay apart of his life? Knowing he'd outlive us and outlive many more who crosses path with him. To stay clinging to him when he might be able to gain a family that'd last longer and be healthier for him" Katie mumbled back in frustration as she glares down at her own lap. Wondering if she was being selfish and cruel by demanding to stay apart of their son's life instead of leaving him in the hands of those who'd give him a better life. Those that would give him a safe and stable home.
"You want to give up him to the Jedi now?" Shiro questioned back, his voice emotionless as he purposely stopped himself from personally reacting over it. He wanted to hear her out without her feeling judged.
"No. I want to keep our son with us forever. But I know how difficult it'd be to stay as his family" Katie quietly admitted as she looked to their son, the parental love still in her eyes.
"We'll stay for however long he wants us or for how long our life lasts. If he grows a little older and wishes for us to leave him, we will. But until that day he's able to say his own wants, only death can remove us from him" Shiro replies gently as he places his arm around her, pulling her against his side and keeping her close. Doing what she's wanted for their son all along, letting him chose his own path in life.
"Thank you" Katie smiles back sweetly as she lifts her head to look at his helmeted face.
"I've done nothing to be thanked for" Shiro sighed, shaking his head lightly.
"You've done everything to be thanked for" Katie told him with pure honestly, knowing he's done so much for her, for their son and for all their futures that she could never repay him like he deserved.
