"You won't come" Lance gasped back with his most kicked puppy look as he leaned against the shop's counter.
"I-I don't think it's a good idea for me to go" Katie weakly stuttered back as she turned her head to the side, not wanting to look at him right now.
"Says who? I think the night won't be perfect without you" Lance huffed back, feeling his anger flare up and ready to throw a punch to anyone who said something.
"I've got to many chores to do" Katie lied as she lowered her gaze, her fiddling with a lose strand on her sleeve as she didn't feel comfortable anymore. She was excited for the ball when he first told her and her brother about it before it got announced later that day. But than she started seeing her stepmother and stepsisters progress for the ball and no longer felt .. pretty or worth going. She felt like she'd only be laughed at or become an eye sour.
"You've always got so many chores to do but you do them and still find time to tinker with your projects. You're brilliant projects that bring so much joy to those who buy them" Lance smiled sweetly as he placed his hand over her fiddling one, gaining her to finally lift her head and look back at him. His eyes honest as he's always loved her little projects and knew customers were always happy with them too.
"Tinkering with my projects and going to a ball that'd hold royals is two different things" Katie frowns as she slips her hand free from his, shuffling back a little and taking hold of her arm, nervously gripping at it.
"Sounds to me that my dearest Pidgin is scared" Lance lightly teased, trying to bring the mood back up and hoping to trick her into telling him what was truly wrong.
"That's not it" Katie sighed as she shook her head at him.
"Than what is it? If you're worried over having a dress than I can make one for you. I'll hand deliver it right to your shop so your step-hag doesn't see it" Lance offered with a friendly smile and knowing he'd be able to find a nice dress she'd hopefully like. He was willing to help hide it from her step family if that was the problem.
"I've got dresses" Katie awkwardly replied, knowing the dress she did have was a little big and not fit for a ball in design but she had one. She wouldn't allow Lance to get her a pretty one when she couldn't ever use it again or do the dress credit.
"They don't have to be fit for a ball, you'll look pretty no matter what you wear" Lance assures without having to think and hopping back from the counter.
"Please stop. I'm not going" Katie huffs back in frustration.
"But I wanted to spend the night with you. Take you upon a tour over where I work and show everyone over the women I've been humming over" Lance sadly admits as he lowers his head in defeat. Dreamily mutter over his plans with her even if they just hide along in the castle halls and make the most of the night in their own way.
"You hum over me?" Katie asks surprise, disbelief filling her eyes as she stares at him.
"You bring out the best in me and always bring a smile to my lips. How can I not hum and show my good mood after meeting with you" Lance shyly admits as he scratches the back of his head, a blush filling his cheeks.
