James wasn't one for romance, never have been. He's never had a first love nor an crush so far. He was never one for romance or relationships. His future always seemed more important than acting like a fool in hopes to catch someone's heart.

It's why he didn't realize that he was turning into such a fool due to a certain paladin that his eyes would always find in a room full of people or search for as he walks the corridors. His eyes focusing on any conversation that uses any of her names and he might listen in on the coms during a battle.

No one had ever even pictured over what he'd be as a boyfriend, husband or any form of a partner in the love department. It was just.. not something that'd grow to be a possibility. He refused feelings and saw them as a waste of precious time that could used towards doing good.

But her crackle, it was such ghostly villain crackle that normally others would find frightening or annoying but he found as the cutest sound known.

And her eyes, they always held her intelligence but more importantly they held her actual soul within them. Any and all emotions flashed through her eyes and he liked staring into her soul like an open book whenever he stood close enough to see such a beautiful pair of eyes.

Her freckles, they were adorable and he wanted to find a pen to draw lines to all her freckles and prove that she stood as the universe itself. To show that their fates had crossed and they were joint together.

Her smile, god her smile, he grew weak in the knees whenever it's aimed at him and he's raced from one room to another whenever he hears the rumours she was in a happy mood. Wanting to spend as much time as he could with that smile in view.

Her brain, he'll never be smart enough to be on her level but he'd stand in a daze whenever she proves how much of a genius she truly was. To listen to the rambles that left many lost and confused but left him wanting to only hear her tell him more facts over it.

She was gorgeous, inside and out.

And he didn't realize his life was growing to be always around her until someone else finally pointed how much of a fool he's grown to be for her.

"Just ask her out already. I'd take the greatest pleasure in beating you up if you end up breaking her heart" Keith deadpanned as he's had enough over James dancing around his ex partner in arms all the god damn time.

"Huh?" James breathed out in pure confusion.

"Try dating her. Stand as a couple of she accepts your feelings. She will, she stares at you as much as you stare at her. She's just more subtle about it unlike you're puppy dog love eyes glued to her" Keith encouraged with a small frown, waving his hands for James to head over to the green paladin currently speaking with Sam across the room. Sick of the long game the pair had been playing for months now.

"My feelings?" James questioned with an raised eyebrow.

"You love her" Keith confessed as if it was obvious and everyone already knew over it.

"I-... WHAT?! I didn't sign up for that when I signed up for the Atlas" James yelped back, voice breaking and falling very pale as he turned to his rival with wide eyes. Looking at him as if he just spoke crazy to him.

"Love isn't something you sign up for.. you know that right?" Keith awkwardly replied, starting to grow concern for his rival as even he knew love wasn't some extra club that people chose to join or not.

"But-" James started to argue back before being cut off.

"Maybe I should give her the shovel talk. You're at risk of being left heartbroken by her compared to her risks of you doing it to her" Keith mumbled to himself as he crossed his arms over his chest, wondering that maybe as James rival he should give the shovel talk to his best friend instead.

"I'm in love with her" James breathed out in awe, realization finally hitting him over why he was so attached and longing towards the green paladin.

"Yes?" Keith answered as if it was a question, starting to wonder if he was wrong over his assumption over his rival being madly in love with his best friend.

"That makes so much more sense than wanting to be friends with her better" James blurted out as he ran a hand down his face, connecting all the dogs over his recent behaviour involving the green paladin.

"You didn't realize that you passed the friend line ages ago?" Keith questioned back as if the other was a huge idiot, as he deals with both Lance and Romelle daily.

"I don't bother with romance. It's time wasting" James huffs back in irritation over the look the other man was giving him.

"Maybe don't say that to Pidge when you confess" Keith advised with an grimace as he knew that won't end well.

"She'll never be a waste of my time" James snapped back as if Keith was now the one talking crazy.

Keith just gave a slow nod towards his rival, patting him on his shoulder in good will before leaving the room. He's done his part as a good friend to Pidge and helped her with her love life.. unknowingly in the end. He knew James would treat her well and if he didn't, the arms of Voltron already held an agreement and plan over dealing with heart breakers in their lives.

Keith just expected to stand in as maid of honour to his best friend at her wedding as thanks for being such a good friend and helping with her relationship to finally start blooming.
