Lions parents name:

(Since it's cannon that the lions are all female, I'll keep them as mums)

Black - Mother.

Red -  Ma.

Yellow - Mummy.

Blue - Mama.

Green - Mum.

She was created to hold Voltron's power within her for when the time the lions were forced to shut themselves down to protect all of the universe. 

She was born by their magic, born by the five lions bonding together deep within Voltron's connection. 

A tiny baby born pure unknown magic. 

The lions would pull her into their souls, bond and raised her through it while her slow aging body was always left protected and hidden away within one of their metal bodies, keeping her out of sight. 

Not even the first paladins had learnt over, the five lions couldn't risk her being known and used for others selfish gain or weaponized like they were. 

The Lions wanted to protect the universe, to use their powers for good.

But they were created to only be useful if they had five chosen paladins to fly them and explore their strengths and powers. 

Just as once already, they'd be betrayed and used against their wills by their chosen paladin. None able to put a stop to it and would all be used to bring forward destruction and fear or sealed forever away out of sight. 

The Lions needed a way to power down when they can no longer risk being used by others in the universe. 

And their daughter was the answer. 

She'll hold their full powers, to be able to steal their souls from their metal forms and hide them deep within her own heart until she decides it's safe for them to hold their own bodies again. 

Katie.

A name they had learnt from peeking into alternate universes and knowing such a name deserved to be known in their own universe. 

Even if their own universe fate would follow a different path to most other universes do. 

Katie was the most dangerous thing in their universe and rarely anyone knew over her.

The lions adored and cherished their daughter.

Proud over the women she was growing to be, was already is. 

Time was difficult for the lions to understand, it felt both slow and fast for them when they never aged but watched everything else in the universe change around them when they never did. 

To watch their daughter explore the universe, travelling and helping as she's able while walking away when it was best. To see the universe they've always watched over and see the changes to it made as time passes by.
