Side Note: In the last chapter I mentioned that Shiro passed out guns for them all to take to the island with them but the guns mentioned in this chapter will be more heavy duty compared to the basic rifles given out before.

Lance wasted no time in joining the rescue party, well, helping to form a rescue party when some of the men seemed unsure passing the large, rotten and clearly meant for keeping something out gate.

They had all heard the roar on the other side and while they've survived the ocean they all knew they might not survive whatever had made such a horrifying battle cry.

But Allura life was in danger and they couldn't just leave her to die, even if some of them really wanted to stay hidden behind the safety of such a large and spooky looking gate. Lance wasn't a hero, he knew he wasn't and he'd prefer to stay hidden behind the gate but he was also a good person and had to help somebody when they were in trouble. So, he helped form the rescue party with Shiro and Matt and soon most of the other's had offered their help.

Shiro, unwillingly gave out the guns that were normally kept safely locked up in a wooden chest that was hidden in a secret in the panel that only a few knew over. One full loaded mag was given out, bullets were only few for the amount of men and Shiro warned them all to make each shot count.

Lance questioned Matt over Shiro strange behaviour over giving out the guns when they heard such a beast on the other side of the gate and knew they may have to fight against it. Matthew admitted that Shiro knew that a weapon leads to someone getting killed and he didn't want anyone become a murderer, even if it was self defence or against an animal, a kill was a kill and it could be additive for some.

Shiro perked up, reminding them that they'd be stepping into the turf of such a beast and with their guns, they became a threat to the creature who was simply living his life in his own home on the island. Fear would force the men to see it as the threat instead and decide it was an enemy due to the terror throwing in their bloods.

Lance wasn't the smartest man but he wasn't overly dumb either. He stuck to his group, the men being separated into five groups of five or six. One group staying at the gates, protecting the bridge they used to reach over the cliff edge and protect their only way back to the ship.

The rest of the groups all carried three flares with them. The rules that were followed was heavy on everyone's heart. One flare meant that they landed in a slaughter, to expect no survives from the group while they face whatever. Two flares was a call for repeat, but only Shiro or Matt could make such a choice. Three flares had meant they had found Allura and for all to return.

Lance was meant to be carrying the groups flares, he was placed with Shiro group. Kept close to the captain and stared in awe over the overgrown and lively jungle around them. They had seen so many different beautiful forms of life and some he'd always been told was extinct. Even Shiro had his breath stolen away and stopped still to state at a few sights.

But than Lance had gotten lost over a river. They were all swinging over with the vines as a few tall and break taking trees seemed to hold branches that cruelled over the top of the river, giving them a chance to swing from one edge to the opposite.
