Keith didn't trust her.

No, that was a lie, he didn't fully trust her.

He didn't know her and he was just trying to protect his friend.

Shiro had taken Keith in during the fight for the throne.

Stepped up as the big brother Keith had never thought he needed until he had one.

Keith knew that Shiro had a past, most of them had a past after all.

But he never asked, knew some pasts weren't worth talking over or needed to be shared.

But now a random stranger arrived, a women, who carelessly used and knew Shiro's name.

Spoke his name as if that was the only name he'd ever had, and maybe that was a good thing since Shiro wasn't like a normal prince, being reminded he was as human as the rest might be needed.

And Keith learnt so much about his best friend in the short time of the women's arrival then all the years they've stood as friends.

He knew that Shiro was linked to the mistress, no other name used or given.

It was a clear hint that meant that the current king had once been captured and imprisoned by an owner.

Slavery was disgusting and had been forbidden for years before but clearly someone had found a way to keep it going with children.

That Shiro had been imprisoned with these two other children who's all grown to see themselves as a small family.

That one of the family members had been killed, accused to be a murderer.

Keith believed that the man was innocent while he knew others gossiped over the current King's old comrades had grown to be criminals and were a danger to the king's image.

But Keith had known the women was being honest, he felt it just as he knew Shiro had done.

The friend, the brother, the pair had lost, had died an innocent man.

That this Matthew guy had died without ever tasting freedom.

So, Keith now knew more over the king's past then he ever had known before.

And he grew to mistrust the women due to her sudden arrival, even though it was clear she had never known the king stood to be a king.

He'd seen her legs move, ready to just leave once she had passed the letter and assumed she'd only ruin the past family in her mind if she did stay.

But Shiro, as always, welcomed all strays into his home and gave them another chance to live a better life once more.

Keith wanted to trust the women, but he was never easily to trust anyone.

He knew in due time, he might trust her as Shiro had known to trust her.
