you find yourself walking around the castle one night, it wasn't that late so there were plenty of people still up from all houses and years. suddenly, you feel a hand pull you by the wrist into an empty corridor, which makes you gasp from the surprise of it all.

"what the-" you were about to say, until the person pinning you against the wall shushes you.

"shut up," you hear the person's voice say. as your eyes adjust to the low light, you realize it was him.

"what are you doing?" you ask him quietly, a mix of annoyance and curiosity on your face.

he scoffs. "trying to get some time alone with you, obviously."

your eyebrows raise in somewhat surprise, not expecting that response from him. "what for?" you ask, leaning your head on the cool stone wall behind you.

he leans in, his face mere inches from yours, his breath warm on your skin. "have you been avoiding me lately?" he asks, his voice laced with a hint of accusation.

you swallow hard, feeling your heart race. "what do you mean?" you try to sound nonchalant, but your voice comes out a little shaky.

he smirks at your attempt to play dumb. "you know what i mean. you've been avoiding me in between classes, at meals, everywhere." he moves closer, his body now completely flush against yours.

"i've tried to talk to you, but every time i approach you, you suddenly have somewhere else to be." he moves a hand to your chin, gently tilting it up so you're looking directly into his intense gaze.

"so i'll ask again, have you been avoiding me?" he repeats, his voice a low rumble.

a few moments of silence pass as you try to come up with a response, but he doesn't give you time before he cuts in.

"don't try to deny it," he says, his tone becoming colder. "i've seen you make excuses to run off whenever i'm near. what's that about?"

"don't lie to me." he states firmly, his grip on your chin tightening just a bit. "i know something's up, and i want to know what it is. now."

you gulp, feeling a mixture of fear and intrigue. there's no point in lying, he's already caught on to your behavior.

"i..." you start, but then trail off. how could you explain it? the truth seemed too unbelievable.

he senses your hesitancy, his fingers on your chin starting to tap impatiently now. "out with it," he says, his tone demanding. "why are you avoiding me?"

"it's complicated," you say nervously, trying to buy time.

he huffs, clearly frustrated by your lack of answer. "complicated isn't an answer," he says, his grip on you tightening even more. "i'm not letting you go until you tell me what's going on. so spill."

he notices your hesitation, his eyes narrowing. "i'm not playing games here," he says, his voice firm but holding a hint of concern now. "just tell me what's going on. whatever it is, i can handle it. i just need to know why you're treating me like i don't exist all of a sudden."

his grip on you loosens somewhat, his hands now gently cupping your face. his touch is soft, as if he's trying to comfort you. "please," he says, his voice pleading. "just talk to me. tell me what's going on."

"okay," you begin, taking a moment to gather your thoughts. "i have something to tell you, and it's going to sound crazy. but you need to promise me you'll hear me out before you react, okay?"

he nods, his hands still gently holding your face. "i promise," he says, his voice low. "just tell me. whatever it is, i'm listening."

you take another deep breath and brace yourself as you begin to speak. "the truth is... i'm not from here. or more specifically, i'm not from this world." you pause, waiting for his reaction.

he blinks, taken aback by your words. he doesn't say anything for a few seconds as he processes your confession. "oh.. well.. okay? but what does that have to do with avoiding me?" he finally manages to ask.

"well... i don't belong here, i felt like i should keep my distance from you to avoid any complications." you say.

"and why would you being from another world create complications?" he asks, his head tilting slightly in confusion. "i mean- who cares? i don't really care, just stop avoiding me." he says.

he lets go of your chin, his arms now resting on either side of your head as he leans in closer. "i don't care if you're not from here. you're here now, and that's all that matters. so why are you running away from me?"

he moves even closer, his body now completely pressed against yours. his voice drops to a gruff whisper. "i've been worried sick about you, wondering what i did wrong. and all this time you've just been avoiding me because you didn't think you belonged here?"

he shakes his head lightly and sighs. "i don't care if you're not supposed to be here or whatever, you're here now, you belong here, you belong with me." he says.

he lets out a frustrated sigh, his hands moving from the wall behind you to your hips, gripping them firmly. he pulls you even closer, so there's no space between you two.

he looks down at you, his gaze intense and unwavering. "why can't you understand? i don't care about where you're from or whether you're supposed to be here. i care about you, and i want you with me. why is that so hard to understand?"
