The X-Men attacked the pier this evening. A mutant, now highly sought after, is thought to have been behind such attack. It seems like it have been in partnership with the mutant group. A new member appeared, who also has defeated Iron Man during a combat. It will appear that this new member is powerful and dangerous. Now, I will pass it to my college Martin with an update on the new registration requirements....
The brunette stopped sipping her tea, glaring at the screen. "Attack...please." She muttered under her breath. The clean clothe she was able to gather helped, now hiding in plain sight was easier. It was easy to spot the area that used to belong to Steve Rogers. Her new hoodie was a example of it. One that had Rogers plastered on one corner of it.
Her eyes darting back at the food she had in front of her. But she was loosing her appetite by the second. The entire based was empty, it had been a while since somebody had used it before.
She gathered that the Avengers had indeed broken up after the war. But she silently wished, or thought, that if she had stayed, she would have prevented everything.
However, sometimes things are out of our control.
Nayara leant back on her seat, seeing some names she recognized. "Scarlet Witch....Sam...." She muttered when she saw the name Falcon. The brunette worried deeply, seeing some others talk bad about the heroes they had once praised.
She held the necklace that Steve had given her the last time they met. All while her worried glance was glued on Iron Man at a press conference.
Iron Man stood in front of everyone with his armor. They were near the Avenger's Mansion, which was now empty. "We will do a full investigation." Tony said to the press. A reporter raised their hand.
"What about the new ally to the X-Men. If they are growing in numbers should we fear them?" The reporter asked, while another argued the opposite. A discussion ensued, and Iron Man raised his hand.
"There should be no fear. My team and I are doing what we can." Iron Man said to them.
The reporter who had corrected the first one rose. "What guarantee do you have that the treatment of people with powers wouldn't be the same as the previous evidence presented against the Sentinel Services? Can you ensure that the secret identity of these heroes will remain intact? And their safety as well?" The reporter asked..
Nayara paled a bit, listening to the question. Tony didn't took out his mask, but Nayara knew he was thinking of an answer. "No comment." He replied. Nayara shut off the TV in anger. He choose that side.
With a regretful look, she picked up a spare bag she found, and filled it with the small memories she could find of Steve Rogers and spare clothe for herself. She made sure her mask and X-Men suit was hidden well before departing. Leaving the ghosts of the base alone once more.
. . .
Nayara felt unnerved, looking over her shoulder all the time. She needed to make her way back home, back to the school as soon as possible. Someone smack roughly against her shoulder, but she remained standing.
The woman glared at her, when she saw the name written on her sweater. "Traitor... You lost." She said to her. Nayara continue working, ignoring the threats she was receiving. Her stomach fell when she saw people commenting about Captain America.
"I bet he was HYDRA all along...you mean..." Nayara stopped what she was doing. Part of her knew Steve would have pulled her aside, and motioned her to keep up walking. But she couldn't. No while they spoke about him that way.
"Don't speak ill of the dead." Nayara snapped at them. "You are just jealous you are a quarter of the human being he was." Nayara added before she continue to walk, her tears of anger beginning to fall.
