Chapter 63

Shiva's POV:

I am very nervous today. My interview will be telecasted today. I am not sure how Tanu will react to it, we have not discussed so far about what I talked. I wanted her to watch it rather than me telling. So when she asked me about how the interview went, I told her it went well, just as I thought. The preparations for Tanu's baby shower has begun. We have scheduled it after 2 weeks. I hope it all works out. But I told ma to not invite anyone until day after tomorrow.

"Shiva come sit, the interview is going to begin." Tanu's voice brought me out of my reverie.

"I'll be right there." I pick the tray filled with popcorn bowls and went to the living room.

"Before we start watching, I need to tell you something. Anytime you start feeling uncomfortable or uneasy, you tell me right away and we will stop watching. Ok?"

"Yes my lord" she made a curtsy with her hands. She has started calling me lord after watching Bridgeton series. She is obsessed with the whole thing. I brought her all 8 books from the series. I kiss the back of her palm before handing over her popcorn.

The interview began..

Host: Hello everyone, you are watching abc show with Mithun sponsored by xyz group. Today we have the business tycoon Mr. Shiva Goenka with us. Hello Mr. Goenka, I welcome you to the show.

Shiva: Please call me Shiva. Thanks for inviting me.

Host: The pleasure is all ours. Let's get started. So Shiva, as we all know you have never given an exclusive interview before, what changed this time?

Shiva: I am someone who likes to keep my personal life private. With the recent developments happening in my life, it is not so private anymore. Hence I am here.

Host: Since you mentioned about it, how is your married life?

Shiva: Can't be anymore happy. She completes me, grounds me and is my home.

Host: That's good to hear. I heard that you were engaged to Ms. Alia, your family friend. Why did the engagement break?

Shiva: The engagement didn't happen, it was an arranged marriage setup. It broke because I realized I cannot enter into a marriage with Alia when I am in love with someone else.

Host: How did you meet your wife?

Shiva: I met her in college, she was my classmate. We were best friends since then, when I look back I was in love with her for a long time but the engagement announcement was the wake up call for me. I realized that I couldn't live without Tanvi and therefore I got married to her right away.

Host: Your marriage with Tanvi Goenka sparked some rumors among the people. Do you have something to say about that?

Shiva: People made their own stories about my marriage, many of which said Tanvi came in-between Alia and me but it was the other way round. My parents and Alia's parent are friends from a very long time, they wanted us to get married. So when they told me their wish, I agreed. Although I was friends with Alia from a very long time, my feelings for her have remained platonic and she was aware of it as well. I met Tanvi's mother when she came to visit Tanvi a couple of months back. She told me that they were finalizing Tanvi's marriage with someone, and it made me feel uneasy. I should have been happy for her but I couldn't stomach the fact that Tanvi was marrying someone. After thinking for the whole night, I decided to call off my engagement with Alia. Then I spoke to Tanvi about my feelings.

Host: Well, that must have been very stressful. How did your parents' and Alia take the news?

Shiva: My father was supportive and it took some while to convince my mother but in the end they gave me their blessings. Alias' parents stood with me, I am grateful for them.

Host: How did your wife take the news when you confessed about your feelings?

Shiva: I talked to her parents first and once they agreed I talked to Tanvi. She was surprised first and she took her time to process finally giving me a chance. We got married after that. Living the best life after that.

Host: It sounds like a cliche romance movie. This is another example where people spin their own narratives without knowing the whole truth.

Shiva: I can't agree more on that. People tend to believe whatever news they see without any credibility. But I am very proud of my wife for being so strong despite of everything the people say.

Host: You have started a foundation after your wife's name. Who will be heading it?

Shiva: Yes, I had it in my mind to start a charity foundation from quite some time ago. It is happening now, my wife will be running it. She is the most compassionate woman I have ever met and along with her experience in administration she is made for the job.

Host: What are your plans for expanding Goenka Industries in the market?

Shiva: We have our plans for expanding our industries into different sectors as well as increase the customer base for the existing ones.

Host: The Goenka Steel went to IPO recently and it was a sucess. Do you have the same expectation for your real estate company ie Goenka Developers?

Shiva: The success of an IPO depends on various factors, some of them being company business model, Management team and pricing. We are hoping for the best results given our corporate governance in the market.

Host: You have brought your company up from bankruptcy to one of the top companies in India. What tips would you like to give to the aspiring entrepreneurs.

Shiva: Never give up on your dreams. Have your goals divided into short term goals and long term goals. Never stop learning. Never let the fear of failure stop you from working on your dreams.

"Thanks Tanu." He smiled.

"Well Done Shiva." Papa congratulated him smilingly.

"Congrats Jiju." Chukki shook hands with Shiva.

"Congratulations Shiva. Is it because of interview you asked to invite everyone for baby shower from day after tomorrow?"

"Yes ma, I wanted the interview to be out before inviting anyone."

Mom nodded understandingly.

"It is 10 already. Let's sleep." Papa said.
