It was the first Christmas for Siobhan and Vivian as a couple, and the excitement in the air was palpable.

For Siobhan, it was the first one that she was allowed to celebrate since her dad had passed. As a child, Siobhan and her dad would decorate ginger bread houses before watching movies with hot chocolate, but after he died, it was never the same, and it only got worse as time went on. Since finding her home with Vivian and her son Jamie, things had changed, and the magic was slowly coming back into her life.

Jamie was buzzing, with constant talk of what to leave santa and the nativity play that he was a part of. Siobhan couldn't help but smile at the young boy as he waffled about everything. She would watch in awe as his face would light up with excitement while he spoke, getting more and more into it.

It was christmas Eve, and Viv had decided to keep Jamie at home for the day. The three of them were spending time together as a family. Secretly, Vivian just wanted to make Siobhan  fall back in love with christmas, but little did she know she was bringing the magic back for herself as well. Since it was only Vivian and Jamie she didnt have anyone to share the evenings with and as the adult she had to make sure everything was ready on her own, putting added pressure on herself to make  every year perfect for her little boy.

They all sat in the cosy living room, which was adorned with twinkling lights from the well decorated chrsitmas tree and festive decorations that sat along the fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. They had decided to spend the day together, embracing the holiday spirit in their own unique way, trying to make new traditions.

As the snow gently fell outside, they settled onto the couch with a pile of blankets, ready to watch their favourite holiday movies. The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air, and they laughed together. Of course, Jamie had picked out the movie. It was only fair. The two women sat quietly sharing stories and reminiscing about their childhood Christmases as they looked at Jamie led on the floor, his eyes fixed to the tv. Each movie brought them closer as they snuggled under the blankets, stealing kisses during the heartwarming scenes and sharing popcorn as the laughter echoed through the room.

Later in the day, they turned their attention to a gingerbread house kit they had picked up at the store. With a playful spirit, they set up their workspace on the kitchen table, surrounded by colourful candies and icing. As they constructed the house, their playful banter filled the room, and they couldn't help but get a little competitive about who could decorate the best. In the end, their gingerbread house was a delightful mix of creativity and chaos, just like their love story.

As they admired their handiwork, Jamie came running in "mummy can i decorate it a bit more, i see gaps." He said innocently with a huge grin on his face. Vivian giggled slightly. "That's what Charlotte says to you when colouring, isn't it?" Siobhan asked quietly as she watched Jamie with Vivian. "Yeah, she does, and then winter will tell her off because sometimes i leave gaps because it needs them," he told them while laughing. "I can imagine that." Vivian chuckled slightly as Siobhan nodded.

Before they knew it, an excited Jamie was finally tucked up on bed and finally asleep. The two women sat quietly together on the couch. They soon realized that this Christmas wasn't just about the decorations or the gifts; it was about the joy of being together, creating memories, and building a life filled with love and laughter. Their hearts were full, knowing that this first Christmas was just the beginning of many more to come.
