At last, Eric's shift was over. Just as he was entering the code to leave, he heard his name being called, turning round to see Jamie running up to him with a big smile on his face. "Hey Jamie, are you going home?" He asked the young boy as Vivian and Siobhan followed along behind him.
"Me, mummy and Bonnie are going to get ice cream because i is a good boy," Jamie told Eric proudly, placing his hands on his hips. Eric smiled and ruffled his hair. "That sounds very exciting. Well done, you." Eric told him as he looked up to see Siobhan standing next to Vivian.
"Are you going to open the door or not?" Siobhan asked in her cold tone, earning a glare from her partner. "Sorry miss Serpent, Siobhan... um, yes, im just going home now." He visibly panicked before pushing open the door. Vivian elbowed Siobhan as a warning to be nice to Eric.
As they got outside, Jamie looked at his parents. "Mummy, i want Eric to come, please. He is my friend." He told them. Siobhan shook her head. "Jamie, Eric has his own things to be doing okay, darling. We will go just the three of us." Siobhan told him calmly, but Jamie sighed as he looked over at Eric , who stood in the carpark looking at his phone.
"Mummy plwase." Jamie asked as he looked at Siobhan. "Go over and ask him, baby." Vivian told him quietly as she watched her son. "Dont be made, but of all the staff, i feel Eric is the one that needs looking after the most. Dont get me wrong. i have heard about Carly, but poor Eric." Vivian told the blonde. Siobhan sighed. "Marjorie and Reeces' job is not ours." She muttered as she watched Eric walk over.
"mrs... Sorry, Miss Serpent... umm Siobhan, mam. " Eric started getting flustered before sighing. "Just call me Siobhan." She told him sternly. Eric nodded quickly. "Umm, Jamie has invited me to get ice cream with you guys, which I would love, but since when did we take the parents and children out for ice cream when their child have been good? Have i missed another email, Marjories is going to be so mad." He rambled.
"Siobhan and I are having a meeting, but as all the rooms at the nursery are full, we decided to go out for ice cream as it would keep Jamie busy while we spoke." Vivian lied about their relationship, coming up with a story to stop any further questions. They both knew Eric, but they didn't trust him not to tell anyone everything.
Jamie took hold of Eric's hand. "Im going to get three scoops, and it's going to be really big," Jamie told Eric as his whole face lit up with excitement. Eric smiled at him. "You are really lucky. I think im going to have just one scoop of mint chocolate chip." Eric told the young boy. "That's mummy's favourite, but Bonnie likes lemon sorbet, but it's too sour for me."

When they got there, the colourful shop was buzzing with laughter and chatter, and the vibrant display of flavors made their mouths water with anticipation. Jamie jumped up and down with excitement as he let go of Eric's hand and rushed to his mummy's side.
As they approached the counter, Eric's eyes widened at the array of choices. There were classic flavours like chocolate and vanilla, but also unique ones like lavender honey and mango chilli. After much deliberation, they all decided to try something new. Siobhan chose strawberry cheesecake and pistachio, while Vivian opted for cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip. Jamie was certain that he was getting his favourite no matter what anyone said. Whereas Eric went for honeycomb.
With their towering sundaes in hand, they found a cosy spot outside under the shade of a large tree at the park. As they dug into their treats, the two playfully fed each other bites, giggling as ice cream dripped down their hands. The laughter and joy of the moment filled the air, creating a memory they would cherish forever. Siobhan and Vivian realized that it wasn’t just the ice cream that made their date special; it was the time spent together, sharing smiles and creating beautiful moments.
While the women enjoyed each other's company, Jamie led Eric to the park, making him play games with him.
They raced to the park, their laughter echoing through the air. The park was a vibrant playground filled with swings, slides, and climbing structures, all beckoning them to come and play. As they arrived, Jamies eyes sparkled with excitement at the sight of the colourful equipment.
Jamie dashed straight for the swings, his favourite spot, while Eric followed along behind him. With each push from Eric, the little boy soared higher and higher, feeling as if he could touch the clouds. "Look at me, Bonnie!" He shouted, his voice filled with joy.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden light, they all settled under the tree together, Jamies cheeks flushed from running around with Eric. Deep down, the two women were grateful for the break they got. They shared stories about their favourite games and promised to come back to the park to do it all again soon. With their hearts full of happiness and friendship, Siobhan and Viv knew that this day would be one they would always remember.
