Here's to my 100th chapter! Thank you all for the support!
The sting of the slap still echoed in Siobhan's ears, a brutal punctuation mark on the argument that had spiraled out of control. The words, the accusations, the raw anger – it all faded into the background as the reality of R*ger's actions sunk in. He had hurt her once again.
Without a word, Siobhan turned, her legs carrying her away from the house, away from the man she used to love. She didn't pack, didn't grab a coat, didn't even pause to think. All that mattered was the escape, to put as much distance as possible between herself and the pain that monster caused.
Outside, the night air was cold against her skin, but she barely noticed. Tears streamed down her face, blurring the streetlights as she walked. Once she was outside and the door was behind her, she ran, pushing herself to the limit. Each step was a testament to her resolve, a silent vow to never allow herself to be hurt like that again. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she couldn't stay.
Once she thought she was far enough away from that monster, she allowed herself to slow down to a brisk walk. The wind howled, clawing at Siobhan's skin as she stumbled along the pavement. Rain lashed against her face, blurring the already dim streetlights into hazy halos. Every crack of thunder was a drumbeat in her chest, urging her forward. She was on a mission, a desperate one: to reach safety, wherever that may be.
The world was a canvas of swirling grey and black. Trees thrashed like tormented souls, their branches reaching out as if to grab her. Each step was a battle against the elements, and herself. The storm's fury threatening to knock her off her feet. But the thought of feeling safe, the reason for her journey, fueled her determination.
Finally, through the downpour, she saw it: Vivian's house, a beacon of warmth and safety in the heart of the storm. With a surge of adrenaline, Siobhan quickened her pace once again, the image of Vivian's face pushing her forward until she reached the welcoming glow of the porch light. With a shaky hand Siobhan used the last bit of her energy to reach up and knock three times on the door.
Inside, Vivian sat bolt up right in her bed as she heard the knocking. Something deep within was warning her that something was seriously wrong. Viv quietly climbed out of bed and picked up her bat before heading downstairs. She knew being a woman in this world she would need to be alert to keep herself safe. As she anxiously looked through the peep hole, nothing could prepare her for what she was about to see. There stood Siobhan, the women she had only spoken to a handful of times, with tears and rain water streaming down her cheeks, her hair dripping wet and blood trickling down her face from her forehead.
Vivian took a deep breath and unlocked the door, carefully swinging it open, revealing Vivian, her face etched with concern. "Siobhan! You're soaked!" she exclaimed, trying to keep calm before ushering her inside. The warmth of the house was a welcome embrace, a stark contrast to the storm's icy grip. Vivian couldn't help herself and immediately began fussing, guiding Siobhan towards the bathroom. She was a nurse after all, her instinct was to look after people.
"Its okay, Siobhan. Let's get you out of those wet clothes," Vivian said gently, her voice a soothing balm. "Here is a towel for you. i will be right out here when you are ready or if you need me" vivian explained calmly but Siobhan nervously took her hand. "Help please." She whispered, she was to weak to fight with her wet clothes, everything hurt. Vivian nodded at her request. She helped Siobhan peel off the sodden layers, each piece of clothing heavy with rain. The air filled with the scent of wet wool and the soft murmur of Vivian's reassurances.
Once the wet clothes were discarded, Vivians eyes scanned the blondes body before she wrapped Siobhan in a thick, fluffy towel. She had seen marks like that before but she had never anything as server as what she just witnessed. Vivian kept it professional. Now wasnt the time but she made a mental note to ask her in the morning.
