"Reece, i can't do this. Please come and get me. I can't." she panicked down the phone. One hand gripping her phone and the other gripping the pram, her ryes glued on the twins. "Autumn, listen to me. You are okay. Make your way outside, and i will be there. Give me two minutes."  He spoke calmly while picking up his keys. "Im coming," Mia told him confidently,  only knowing that Autumn needed support. Reece didn't argue when Mia snatched the keys from his hand and rushed out to the car while dragging him along.  "Listen to me. Mia is coming with me. It's okay. She's driving. Get yourself outside." Reece spoke quietly as Mia made her way out of the carpark and down the road. "Reece, just hurry." She muttered as tears filled in her eyes.

"Aut listen to me. Go outside and find a bench and sit down. We are nearly there." Mia told told her while weaving in and out of traffic. "If you dont crash first." Reece muttered. "Stop, please. Not the time for jokes." Autumn warned him. He could hear the stress and panic in her voice. "Okay, okay, i will stop." He sighed as he got told off. Just at that moment, crying filled the background noise. "Autumn, what's happened?" He asked quietly. "Dorian. He's awake now, but i can't. I can't. Please." She whispered, her voice breaking.

"Okay, it's okay. We are here. Let me park. Deep breath, and we will be there." Mia told her calmly as she pulled into a space and killed the engine. She didn't wait for Reece. With ease, Mia climbed out of the car before racing to her sisters side. "We are here." Mia whispered as she moved towards her. She went to hold her hand, but before Mia could say anymore, Autumn had wrapped her arms around Mia, hiding her head as a few tears slipped down her cheeks. "I've got you." Mia whispered, watching Reece settling Dorian with ease.

"I haven't got their carseats, so i will walk them home, and you can go home with Mia. They will be fine. I've got them. Just go with mia. I can even walk you to the car." Reece told his little sister protectively, her nodding ever so slightly. If there was one thing Autumn hated, it was showing emotions and being seen as weak.

Once back at her home, Autumn took herself off upstairs. She didn't really want to be alone, but she wasn't prepared to let Mia see her fall apart. Growing up, they looked after each other, but things had changed, and they hadn't shown that much emotion in years.

Mia let Autumn go. She knew her well enough to know that she needed space to process everything before having company. The red head made her way into the kitchen, making both herself and Autumn a cup of tea. It was her younger sisters who went to drink when things got hard.

It didn't take long. Once the drinks were ready, Mia slowly made her way upstairs before knocking gently on Autumn's door, pushing it open. She wasn't ready for what she found. Autumn, curled into a tight ball on the bed, in one of Winters hoodies, with tears rolling down her cheeks.  "I've made us a tea." She whispered, making her way closer, placing the steaming mugs on her bedside table. "I can give you some space." Mia offered, but Autumn shook her head quickly before reaching for Mia. "Okay, i will sit with you, and then maybe you can talk to me about what happened."

Mia walked around the bed quietly before settling down beside Autumn, leaving a little gap. "Im here." Mia whispered calmly. The second thee words left her mouth, and she rolled over and straight into her embrace, all before breaking down again.

"Aut, do you want me to hold you the same way i did when we were younger?" Mia questioned while staying close, Autumn nodded slightly before trying to hide her face. With that, Mia moved slowly, pulling autumn onto her chest, wrapping the duvet around them both. "I've got you.  You are safe now, sweetheart." Mia hushed before moving slowly to reach up and trace patterns on her back.

"You don't get it. I was so scared. I don't get scared, Mia. But my babies, i was scared for them. There were so many people, and they all just looked dangerous. I can't protect them from everyone, but Reece can. What am i doing wrong? Reece isn't scared. He's out with them now, yet here i am failing them. I only went out for nappies.  I can't even do that." She mumbled while playing with the sleeve of Mia tshirts she was wearing. The redhead sighed before moving to look at Autumn.

"Aut, you remember that when Char just came back off maternity leave and she was on edge all the time. She went through this. She saw everyone as a threat. But she took it slow and had the right people around her. You will be okay. We will get through this together." Mia hushed while combing her fingers through Autumn's hair. "Try and have a nap, I will stay with you, but please just try and sleep." Autumn sighed before snuggling into Mia's chest, letting her eyes fall close.

Mia watched her closely. "Hang on, sweetheart, i'm just moving your glasses." She whispered while taking them off. Once again, Autumn settled, and as she did, the older woman started to hum, the same tune she used to hum when they were younger.

An hour had passed when Autumn finally startled awake. "Shhh, you're okay." Mia hushed while Autumn was fighting to get away from her. "The twins. Let me go." She yelled, but Mia just slowly sat them both up, passing Autumn her glasses. "They are with Reece. He's fed them, and they are asleep, so please don't yell and wake them up. You can go and see them but just quietly." She whispered while watching Autumn's face changed slightly, relaxing more.

Autumn sighed before nodding slightly. "Sorry." She whispered while slipping out of bed and into their nursery. Her two children, fast asleep, cooing quietly. Dorian had his neutral coloured giraffe baby grow on while Emery had her elephant one on. They were gifts from Mia. She knew Autumn best and knew it wasn't about the bright pinks and blues.

Autumn started to sing softly while watching her children. She didn't want to wake them, but she felt guilty for what they had just been through. Of course, deep down, she knew that they were too young to have any idea, but the guilt was eating her alive.

"Little sis," Reece whispered as he watched her from the doorway. "Let them sleep. Come and sit with me and mia." The moment she heard his voice, she spun around on the spot before wrapping her arms around him tightly. "Thank you for coming. I was scared." She whispered the last part while holding onto her brother. He picked her up and carried her away from the twins' room. "Mia has snacks, and the monitor is on, so the three of us are going to watch toy story while they sleep. I've spoken to Winter, and Marjorie is going to try and let him go as early as possible." Reece whispered as she nodded slowly. "I need this," she murmured before moving away from Reece, sitting down next to Mia.

The three of them stayed curled up on the couch together. The exact same way they did when they were growing up. "We will get there together,  one step at a time." Mia whispered calmly, breaking the silence. "I thought... i thought i was there." She mumbled nervously. Reece placed his hand on his sisters shoulder. "We can go on days out, and we will take small steps then." He told her confidently, making Autumn nod, snuggling into them both more as she sat it in the middle, her legs drapped over Reeces lap.
