Charlotte was walking through the corridor of the nursey, her mind heavy with thoughts that seemed to weigh her down. The trees swayed gently in the breeze outside the window but she barely noticed. Lost in her own world, she didn't see Janice until they nearly collided.
"Charlotte!" Janice exclaimed, moving out the way before they walked into eachother. "Look where you are goi - Are you okay?" The older woman started before taking in Charlotte’s expression.
Charlotte forced a smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. "Oh, hey, Janice. Yeah, just... thinking."
Janice studied her colleague closely, they had never been that close but she could tell something wasnt right. She could see the shadows under Charlotte's eyes and the way her shoulders slumped. "You don’t look okay. What's going on?"
With a sigh, Charlotte felt the weight of her troubles spill out. "It's just been a tough week. Work is stressful, and I feel overwhelmed. And when I breakdown it's all oh that's 'so real or mood' but the second it's someone else its suddently all 'oh sweetheart I'm here' You know what im done. I've lost both of them let's be real. Their is no point in me trying to hang onto something that isnt there. They are so in their friendship bubble that I don't matter." Charlotte got out in one breath while looking at the ground.
Janice nodded, her expression softening with understanding. "I get it. Sometimes life just throws too much at us." Before she could walk away, Janice took hold of her hand. "Lets sit in the office just for a moment to calm down before you head back to the room." She whispered while tracing patterns on the back of her hand.
Charlotte allowed herself to be led by Janice into the office before being push back onto the couch gently.
"So Charlotte, what's wrong? Who is wrapped in a bubble?" Janice asked softly, concern etched on her face.
Charlotte looked up, her eyes glistening with tears that threatened to fall. "I can't handle this anymore, Janice. Everything feels so overwhelming. I thought I could manage, but it’s just too much. Sorscha and winter are so happy together. Im not jealous but with them spending more time together outside of work because Aut is spending time with Quinn and her expecting, they just have a bond. You know the saying two is company and three is a crowd. Well its very true and i am the crowd."
Janice immediately knelt beside her, offering comfort. "It's okay to feel this way. You don't have to go through it alone. Let it out."
As Charlotte began to cry, her emotions poured out, each sob releasing the tension that had built up inside her. Janice wrapped an arm around her, providing a safe space for her to express her feelings.
Just then, Autumn walked into the office, her calm demeanor shifting as she caught sight of the scene. "Oh no, what’s happening?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. As much as Autumn tried to act cold hearted she couldn't stand to see the people who genuinely mean the world to her upset.
Janice quickly explained, "Charlotte's having a tough time. She just needs a moment."
Autumn's expression softened as she approached them. "Charlotte, I’m so sorry you're feeling this way. If there's anything we can do to help, please let us know."
Charlotte took a deep breath. "Actually, there’s something I need to talk to you about." Autumn’s expression shifted to concern. "What’s wrong?" She questioned quietly as she sat herself down next to Charlotte on the couch. Janice stayed put, her still holding Charlottes hand.
"It’s about Winter," Charlotte said, her voice trembling slightly. "I feel like he’s been pushing me away lately. I don’t know if he’s stressed or what, but it’s really affecting me." Autumn frowned, her brow furrowing. "What do you mean? How has he been doing that?" She questioned quietly.
