The two couples walked hand in hand along the beach. Charlotte had already slipped off her shoes and socks, to which Mia carried for her. "Mia, i can carry them. You really dont have to," Charlotte waffled to her, but Mia ignored her with a smile on her face.
Marjorie and reece walked behind them both. "They are so in love. I've never seen Mia like this." Reece mumbled as he chucked at the sight of the other couple now running along the beach together. "Charlotte will give up soon and join us till we catch up with Mia," Marjorie whispered before leaning against Reece as they walked. "I love you so much." she told him with a genuine smile on her face. "That's good because i love you too." He whispered softly while looking out into the sea.
He looked back towards Mia and Charlotte to see that she had put all their belongings in a pile on the beach and Charlotte was over Mias shoulder. Reece rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone. "Babe..." he nudged her so she would watch. He filmed as Mia carried Charlotte into the sea before throwing her in as she screamed. Marjorie burst into laughter, and Reece held back sniggers as he kept filming them both. After a while, he stopped, watching as Charlottes stood up and started pushing Mias chest. "Reece, at what point do we step in?" Marjorie asked, but Reece just giggled. "We dont, we walk away and act like we dont know them." Reece told her seriously, watching as Mia ran away from Charlotte.
Reece wrapped his arms around Marjories waist gently. "I think we should carry on walking, but we will carry their stuff till they can grow up enough to join us." He whispered softly before kissing Marjorie. She kissed him back with a smile on her face.
As the sun began its descent, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, Marjorie and Reece continued to stroll hand in hand along the soft, warm sands of the beach. The gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore created a soothing melody, wrapping around them like a cosy blanket. With each step, they felt the cool breeze caress their skin, making them giggle as they watched their friends playfully chase each other, leaving footprints that would soon be washed away by the tide. Seeing Mia so free, filled Reece with pride. There was just something about the way they were together that made the redhead light up.
As the couple walked, they shared stories from their childhood and dreams about what it could be now if it was all different. There was the sound laughter mingling with the sound of waves that came from Mia and Charlotte as they were still trying to get eachothers back.
After a while, Marjorie stopped to collect seashells, her eyes sparkling with delight as she found a particularly beautiful one. Reece watched her, feeling a rush of affection swell in his heart. He couldn't help himself as he leaned in closer, whispering sweet nothings that made Marjorie blush, their connection deepening with every shared moment.
As twilight approached, they found a quiet spot to sit, the horizon glowing with the last remnants of daylight. At last, both Mia and Charlotte caught up and sat down with them on the sand. "Oh, how nice of you guys to finally join us." Reece teased as the couple chuckled. Their clothes and hair dripping wet.
The four of them sat together as they watched the stars begin to twinkle above, their hearts full of warmth and love. "Reece, this reminds me of when we were young, and we would stay out for as long as possible. Being out was the only time we were all free and safe." She slowly trailed off. Charlotte picked up on this and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend gently. "It might have been tough, but you three all made it together." Charlotte whispered as reece nodded slightly.
"I think we should get everyone home and showered and into pjs ready for bed." Charlotte spoke calmly while running her fingers through Mias wet hair. "Could we come back to yours?" Mia questioned nervously. "Of course, my love, Reece has enough hoodies to go round, and I've got loads of leggings you could wear." Marjorie answered quickly. Seeing this side of Mia was very new to the manager, making her feel nervous. "No more throwing each other in the sea on the walk back to the car. I dont want my car wet, thank you. Mia, if you dare, i will make you walk back holding Marjories hand." Reece warned playfully as Marjorie shot him a look.

It wasn't long after when they were all back at Marjories house and everyone was changed. "Thank you," Mia whispered as she walked past Marjorie and over to Charlotte. Marjorie smiled softly at Mia as she watched her snuggling into Charlotte's side on the couch. "Baby, you are okay." Charlotte muttered before kissing the top of her head.
"Anyone want a hot chocolate or a drink?" Reece asked as he looked around the room. "Marj, i thought you were joking about my hoodies." He muttered playfully. "Well, i gave them the ones i know you dont really wear that much." Marjorie told him before looking at Mia and Charlotte. "He had this one back when we were kids. I think i brought it for you with my first payout from that rat." Mia spoke quietly as Reece nodded. "You did. And Charlottes one Auts brought me after years of saving her pocket money." He explained with a soft smile on his face.
"We can go and change." Charlotte told him calmly but reece shook his head. "Please dont. I love them hoodies, but i can't bring myself to wear them, so seeing you guys in them is really nice." He whispered before sitting next to Marjorie. "Mia, we will have to leave soon so everyone can sleep." Charlotte whispered softly to Mia as she nodded. "I fear someone has upset themselves and has become clingy to Reece." Charlotte muttered as Reece stood up and walked over to Mia, sitting next to her. Whenever Mia spoke about her past, she always found most comfort from one of the siblings.
"Im sorry." She whispered before moving to lean against his shoulder. "Marjorie, im sorry. Im really sorry." She whispered as Reece put an arm around her gently. Charlotte smiled softly before moving to sit next to Marjorie. "Im just over here, sweetheart." Charlotte reasured her as she watched them together.
"I never knew she had such a soft side to her. Bless her heart, she seems so small. I'm happy that she feels she can be like this around us." Marjorie whispered as Charlotte nodded. "She will stay with reece and probably fall asleep for a while and wake up fine again. But when she's asleep, i will drive her home so you guys have some time to yourselves." Charlotte whispered as she watched them together. "No, stay. We, deep down, like having you guys here." Marjorie told her softly. "It just gives the house a more homely feel about it, and clearly, she needs it." Charlotte nodded slightly as she kept a close eye on her girlfriend. She watched as Reece held her closer against his chest and gently swayed them both as the tears slowly rolled down her cheeks and dripped onto Reece.
It wasn't till Mia sniffled that Reece noticed she was crying. "What if we never broke free? What if i never got you and Auts back? What if..." Mia rambled on as Reece looked at Charlotte. "Baby, you are okay. You are overthinking now. Can you hear Reeces heartbeat?" Charlotte asked quietly as Marjorie held her hand. She didn't get an answer, mia just nodded her head slightly. Reece sighed before wrapping her up in the blanket and holding her close. "You would do this to me as kids." She mumbled.
Reece nodded. "I did, and then Auts would sometimes come and hide under the blanket, thinking it was all one big game." Reece whispered as he continued to hold her. "She had no idea, and i wish it all stayed that way." Mia whispered before looking at reece and sniffling. "Your sweater is all wet now." She mumbled before giggling nervously. "Oh, shut up and come here," Reece whispered as she moved slightly closer.
Once she had settled back down, Reece beckoned the other two to join them. Marjorie moved herself over and sat on Reeces lap shortly, followed by Charlotte, who sat in the space next to her girlfriend.
Marjorie was nervous but rested her head against Reece and gently placed her hand on Mias knee supportively. Mia couldn't help but smile slightly through her tears at the gesture.
Meanwhile, Charlotte wrapped her arms around her girlfriend gently from behind. "We are all here for you, baby girl. You are allowed to be upset, but if you tell us what's made, you feel so sad we can help more." Charlotte spoke calmly as she looked at her crying sweetheart.
"Char, we know you work with kids. You dont have to make it so obvious. Im sure i heard you say that same sentence to a preschooler not so long ago." Marjorie teased to try and lighten the mood. "Im fine just the past hurts. Thinking about what we could have been breaks my heart." mia explained honestly, to which reece held her closer.
"Mia, you are okay now." Marjorie whispered while looking at Charlotte for reassurance. Charlotte smiled softly as she kept her arms around Mia. "We got you dickhead its okay." Reece teased as Mia playful hut him round the back of the head earning giggles from everyone. In that moment, Mia realised that she wasn't alone.
