By 10:30, mia was getting tense. Marjorie hadn't turned up for work and hasn't messaged to say she's not coming in. This wasn't like her, and Mia knows it. She gives up waiting and rings Reece only for him to  tell her that he left early to be at Auts. Mia quickly finds cover for her in the office before she drives to Marjorie's house to find her.

She parks her car before racing up the drive, pushing open the front door, letting herself in quietly, before scanning the rooms for any signs of her friend. She makes her way upstairs, panic washing over her.

Finally, she pushes open her bedroom door. "Oh, Marj." She whispers as she slowly moves into the room. "They dont care, Mia, and neither do you." Marjorie spat before Mia could do anything. More tears rolled down her cheeks. The redhead sighed. "I wouldn't be here if i didn't care." She told her in a calmer tone. "Now stop being so stubborn and trying to hide from everyone." Marjorie shook her head slightly before snuggling back into her bed, wrapping the duvet around herself tightly while tucking the edges in. "Nope. That's not happening.  You are getting up." Mia told her seriously.

Tears brimmed in Marjorie's eyes once again as she looked at Mia. "I just can't." She sobbed, letting the tears flow freely. "I just want a hug and to feel loved. Reece is too busy with the twins and Aut and winter.  i work with you every day. It's hard, okay?" Mia stayed quiet and listened. "The toast situation. We all know i can't cook, i always burn toast, so most mornings i have to go without till lunch because Reece isnt here to help me and chef wont give me any and you wont share. I know im useless. Don't remind me." She choked out between breaths.

Mia sighed. As much as she didn't like Marjorie, she couldn't stand and watch her fall apart anymore. "This is a one-time offer, but would you like a hug?" Mia questioned nervously as Marjorie nodded slowly. Mia crossed the room before sitting on the edge of the bed. "Sit up then." Marjorie couldn't bring herself to sit up properly. She rolled over and slumped herself against Mias lower back, hiding the fact that tears were rolling down her cheeks. "I know you are crying. I can feel my back getting wet." She told her. "Do i need to get Reecey here?" Mia didn't get an answer. She just felt Marjorie shake her head quickly against her. "D-dont call him. He th-thinks im at work." She mumbled nervously.

Mia sighed before moving slowly.  "I could call Char and get her to come over." Mia whispered calmly, but Marjorie continued to shake her head. "Please," she finally whispered, making Mia move to look at her. "Just hug me." She practically begged the redhead. "Sit up then, i can't do anything with you like that." She whispered, trying to sound cold. Marjorie shuffled under the covers.

Mia sat quietly on the bed and waited for Marjorie. As much as she didn't like her, she couldn't ignore the fact she needed a hug. Sure enough, Marjorie sat up and shuffled slightly closer to Mia before wrapping her arms around her tightly, hiding her head. "Are you sure you dont want me to call Char or Reecey?" She questioned quietly before gingerly placing her arms around Marjorie, but she shook her head again. "Okay, but when you have calmed down, we will go to the kitchen for your morning coffee and some toast. Then we can go from there." She whispered while making patterns on her back.

Once downstairs, Marjorie sits herself down at the table, her head in her hands as her eyes follow the redhead around the kitchen. "I'm not hungry." She muttered as Mia pulled the bread from the cupboard. "You might not be,  but i am," Mia told her while making two coffees. Deep down, Mia could tell that Marjorie wanted to eat but didn't want to admit it, so,  in true Mia fashion,  she made up a convincing story on the spot. "Right one coffee for you. When my toast is down, i will come and sit with you." Mia spoke calmly before moving to get the butter from the fridge.

It didn't take long for Mia to be sat opposite Marjorie, the plate of toast between the two. "I think i perfer toast here because you buy the fancy butter." Mia spoke teasingly before taking a bite. Marjorie nodded slightly while watching her closely. "At least i know you haven't spat on that." She mumbled while picking at her nails. "You can take some, but this is a one-time offer because this is your house." Mia whispered, trying to make it sound like she was doing her a favour when, in reality, the only reason Mia made the toast was for her.
