Autumn found herself in a dark, twisted dream, where shadows danced around her, whispering secrets of betrayal and fear. In this haunting landscape, she stood face to face with her brother, Reece, whose expression was a mix of rage and sorrow. The air was thick with tension as she felt the weight of their shared past pressing down on her.
"You killed our father, and I'm going to kill you, sister," he spat, his voice trembling with a blend of anger and despair. The accusation hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. Reece stepped forward, his eyes glistening with unshed tears, but they were overshadowed by a darkness that seemed to consume them. In his hand, he held a knife, glinting ominously in the dim light.
With a swift motion, he plunged the blade into her abdomen, and Autumn gasped, feeling the cold steel pierce her flesh. Pain surged through her, but it was not just physical; it was a deep, emotional agony that echoed the rift between them.
Winter stood by the window, watching the snowflakes dance through the air, a serene blanket of white covering the world outside. The tranquillity was shattered, however, when he heard Autumn's panicked breaths echoing from the living room. He rushed to her side, his heart racing. She was curled up on the couch, her eyes wide with fear, her hands trembling.
"Autumn, breathe, i am right here" Winter urged, kneeling beside her. He tried to hold her hands, but she pulled away, lost in her own whirlwind of thoughts. "Reece..." she mumbled, but no matter how much Winter reassured her, the words seemed to slip through her like water. He felt helpless, a deep ache settling in his chest as he watched the woman he loved struggle so fiercely against her own mind.
In desperation, Winter grabbed his phone and called Reece. "You need to come over quickly! Autumn is having a panic attack, and I can't seem to help her." His voice was laced with urgency, hoping that Reece, with his calming presence, could reach Autumn in a way he couldn’t. As he hung up, he returned to Autumn, whispering soothing words, hoping desperately that Reece would arrive soon to help pull her back from the edge.
Reece hurried through the snow, his breath visible in the cold air as he approached Winter's front door. He knocked urgently, and Winter opened the door almost immediately, his face etched with concern.
"Reece, thank goodness you're here," Winter said, stepping aside to let him in. "Autumn is having a panic attack. She’s in the living room. I’ve tried everything, but she’s just… lost in it."
Reece nodded, his expression serious as he followed Winter into the cosy living room. He found Autumn curled up on the couch, her eyes darting around the room, breaths shallow and quick.
"Hey, Autumn," Reece said softly, kneeling beside her. "It’s me, Reece. I’m here, and so is winter. You are in your living room, and you are safe. " He kept his voice calm and steady, trying to create a safe space.
Slowly, he guided her focus to his voice, encouraging her to take deep breaths. “Let’s breathe together, okay? In through the nose, out through the mouth.” He demonstrated, and after a few moments, Autumn began to mirror him, her breaths becoming a little steadier.
Reece continued to talk to her, reminding her of the warmth of the room, the softness of the couch, and the love surrounding her. With each passing minute, he could see her tension easing, the panic slowly receding as she found her footing again. Winter watched, relief washing over him. Reece also relaxed as he saw his sister begin to calm down.
Winter made his way closer to sit next to his wife, grateful for Reece's ability to help her find her way back. Once he knew his sister was okay, he left the couple together. He knew that his sister wouldn't want him to see her all cuddled up with Winter.
As the warmth of the room enveloped them, Winter sat beside Autumn, who had finally begun to relax after her panic attack. The tremors in her hands had subsided, and her breathing was more even now. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close.
Autumn nestled into him, resting her head against his chest. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat was soothing, a gentle reminder that she was safe. Winter could feel the tension in her body gradually melt away as she cuddled into him, seeking comfort in his presence.
"Thank you for being here," she whispered, her voice still a little shaky but filled with gratitude. Winter tightened his embrace, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "I will always be here, even if you dont want to talk. I can just sit," He stroked her hair softly, knowing that sometimes just being there was enough. Together, they sat in the quiet, the chaos of earlier fading into the background, replaced by the warmth of their bond and the comfort of simply being together.
