Chapter 165

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week. Mine was pretty normal. My son was off from school this week and starts a summer camp that the school is offering on Monday. We got ice cream today because he was mostly good for the whole week. No plans for the weekend. My husband has to work tomorrow. He's an engineer at a winery and they are turning off the power so they can fix certain things. They do this every year. He has to get up really early so he went to bed early tonight. When he gets home tomorrow, he will probably take a nap and we will chill. I hope your weekend plans are more fun than mine!

Anyways, we are one step closer to ending Patrick's hallucination. Read the tags and trigger warnings for this one. Pete wakes up in a room he doesn't recognize with his wrists and ankles bound by zip ties. He looks over and sees that Joe is away restrained the same way. Pete figures out how to stand up and shows Joe, who does the same. It appeared they were in a room with concrete floors and walls. Gabe greets them and asks how they were feeling after their torture session. Joe says he's surprised that they were healed and makes the mistake of asking Gabe how that was possible. Gabe punches him in the face because he asked a question without asking. He tries to goad Joe into asking another question and Joe doesn't take the bait. Pete remembers that Gabe had a healing power from when Patrick was tortured. Gabe confirms it and admits that he did it to prepare them for what he had planned tonight. Pete decides he's done with Gabe's bullshit tells him as much, interrupting him. He tells he didn't know what Gabe had planned for them, but that he had a strong feeling that neither he nor Joe were walking out of that room alive and that if it's his last night, that he's not dealing with Gabe's shit, also mentioning that if they survived he'd rather be dead and turned into a hybrid abomination. Gabe finally reveals that they were there to meet the newest member of his hybrid army and leaves to go get them. Joe asks him what he meant when he said they wouldn't walk out alive. Pete tells him that that was Gabe's plan. He didn't know how but his gut feelings weren't usually wrong. Joe acknowledges that, they commiserate and come to terms with it. Gabe returns with a wild, savage, primitive animal with super pale skin that looked translucent and had red eyes. It was also hobbling around on it's hands and knees like an ape. Gabe tells them it's Patrick and Pete and Joe don't believe him. Pete reasons that vampires were supposed to look like and act like humans so they could blend in with them. Gabe laughs at them and explains what happens when you starve a fledgling vampire whose bloodlust, hunger, an appetite were much higher to start with. The shares that they become very weak, tired, and dizzy and if you continue starving them, they regress into this wild, untamed, primitive creature that are driven by their ferocious hunger. Pete puts it all together and figures out that this animalistic monster was actually Patrick. Gabe confirms it and reveals that this was the plan from the beginning. That when Pete and Joe were captured he had a brilliant idea that he'd starve Patrick pretty close to death and then make him feed on Pete and Joe until he'd killed them. He goes on to say that he's been controlling Patrick with his mind this whole time and it was time to start the party. He explains that he's providing them with weapons to defend themselves to give them a fighting chance. Then Gabe orders the guards to cut Pete and Joe's restraints, gives Patrick the rest of the blood in the vial he'd coaxed him in with and then releases him on Pete and Joe. (I don't want to ruin the ending, so I'm stopping here with the summary).
