UA Episode 23 Part 1

Part 1: 

JS received a text from JJ:

JJ: Today is Nari’s birthday. Come and have dinner. JJ.

Nari: Who is it?

JJ: Seems like my special gift has arrived.

JS walked into the house while Nari and HS stared at him in shock.

JJ: You don’t need to ask me for a gift anymore. Here is your gift.

Nari: Sister.

JJ: Today is Nari’s birthday. I am the one who brought him home to eat dinner.  Why aren’t you saying anything? Let’s sit down. HS, go and light the candle.

Everyone: Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday,  beloved Nari. Happy birthday to you.

JJ recalled back to the time when they celebrated birthday with his dad and step-mom, and he had tears in his eyes.

JJ: Make a wish and then blow out the candle.

The glow of light disappeared, putting them all in darkness.  With the lights back, they all settled down for the meal.

JJ: I prepared a lot of dishes. Everyone, quickly eat it.

She handed JS a spoon and waited for him to eat.

Nari: Aren’t you supposed to give me my present first?

JJ: I already gave you mine.

Nari: Alright, sister passed. Brother? Thank you, brother. I am even more pleased with you. You didn’t come empty handed, did you?

JS: I didn’t prepare anything special.

He handed Nari a box. When Nari opened it, she saw a drawing. She picked it up with tears in her eyes.

JS: This is a drawing that I drew when Nari was a baby. This is the original copy. I drew another copy and kept it.

JJ: Nari, are you okay?

Nari: It’s because I don’t even have one picture of me when I was small, I feel a little bit shameful in front of my friends. I can only lie and say that there was a fire at my house, so nothing is left. Now I have this drawing and can look at the picture. I felt I am a very important person.

JS: What are you saying? You have always been mom’s little precious, right? Right?

JJ: Mom is really big-hearted.  In order to see more beautiful things when she was pregnant, we had to go to the garden to plant flowers, and she played water war with us. That was an exceptionally happy day.  Quickly, let’s eat.  The soup is getting cold.

Tears appeared in JS’s eyes as he took a sip of the soup.

HS: Do you need to go to the restroom? It’s over there.

JS immediately ran to the restroom, while the rest of them were sitting there with tears in their eyes. JS started to cry by himself in the restroom. He covered his mouth so people couldn’t hear his sobs.

JJ: You must have been shocked because your sister invited him over. This time just humor me.  I can’t think of a better gift than him. If you really feel uncomfortable, you can go back upstairs first.

HS: Let’s wait for him to come out and eat dinner together.

JJ: Thank you.

HS: Thank you for what? Why do you have to thank me?
