He sat for what seemed like forever against the door of the bathroom until he fell asleep. The last thing he saw before his eyes shut was the sun as it set behind the snow capped mountains through the window, the first thing he saw when his eyes reopened was Ruby standing in the moonlight, an over sized Tshirt hanging off her shoulder, she was hugging herself as she looked out the window. He got up slowly silently as he walked over to her, he stood behind her as she watched the snow falling like minuscule partitions of cloud onto their surrounds, hugging herself as if she were trying to keep herself from falling apart. It felt like they were in a snow globe of lost hope, separated from the rest of the world. Just him and her. He was tempted to touch her but didn't want to break the spell, but eventually found his arms making their way around her from behind, and to his surprise she said nothing as she buried her face in his chest and they watched the snow fall together. He didn't dare speak, more so out of fear of what she would say. He didn't want the moment to end, but it did, as the sun began to peek over the snow capped mountains, turning the royal blue and onyx sky a distinct grey color before it burst with glowing orange and hues of pink before the yellow began to overpower the other colors. She pulled away quietly, the moment broken with the disappearance of the snow.

"I love you" he sighed, she looked down silently and nodded. "Ruby, I love you and I want to make this work" he repeated, she looked pensive for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing, knitting together as if she were in deep thought, before she looked up and replied with a breathy,

"I know", he looked at her expecting her to say something else.

"Do you love me?" He asked, she licked her lips

"I-" she began but stopped. She took a deep breath as it were such a complicated question,

"Do you love me?" He repeated he sighed rubbing his temples "It's a simple question" he told her, she looked up at him,

"Its not a simple answer" she said finally. He shut his eyes,

"It's me or the Shield" he told her, she looked up at him,

"I'm not making that decision" she shut her eyes, he looked at her shocked

"Choose me, just choose me!" He pleaded

"It's not that simple..." She muttered

"But it is!" He groaned

"I just can't..." She sighed

"Can't? Or won't?" He challenged, she bit her lip and looked up at him,

"Both." She whispered before turning and walking away. He stood for the watching her leave. He didn't knew what to think, he felt like he had made a break through, but with her he was never sure, she was a master manipulator. He looked at the clock, it was 7 am, he had 17 hours left to change her mind. He didn't know what else he could possibly do, he had run out of ideas. He plopped on the couch and sighed. Maybe it was time to give up. Maybe he was better off alone. He didn't know what he wanted anymore. But he got up and followed her to where she had gone,

"We need to talk" he told her as he stood in the door way watching her change. She didn't look at him,

"I think we've done a good bit of talking this weekend don't you think?" She said as she pulled on a pair of black leggings.

"We need to talk about what happened last night"

"We fucked, twice. There's nothing to talk about. Shit happens. It's no big deal." She shrugged, pulling off the oversized shirt, he could see her tattoo beneath her breast as she searched for a shirt,

"You know that's not what I mean."

"Then what do you mean Phil? I'm not a fucking mind reader" she sighed
