Tonight was the night, opening night of our university performance. We've had to take a play, we chose a musical, and try to show as many skills as we could. Having a nearly all female class Les Miserables was quite a risk especially for those of us playing men. I was lucky enough to land the role of probably my favourite character Marius Pontmercy. Well at least I survive the performance eh.
The show has already started obviously I was still in the dressing room, I don't come in for a while. I am not needed until the song Look Down.
As the time came I stood at the side of the stage, trying to keep my breathing steady.
I ran out onto stage on my cue to finish the song. As I turned to face the crowd I scanned the front row. Many of the faces I knew, students, lecturers but there was one. A handsome young looking man, luscious blond hair and striking blue eyes. He locked eyes briefly with mine and he gave me a smile. As we continued our performance.
In the end we didn't bother getting out of costume as we all walked into the theatre lobby. Some friends were there, as was that man.
"Pardon?" He spoke walking over to me. French.
"Yes? Can I help you?" I smiled.
"I want to say that you make a wonderful Marius. You look amazing and your voice is beautiful."
"Oh. Thank you very much sir."
"Please. I'm Francis. Francis Bonefoy. And you ma Cherie, should come out for a drink with me."
"I would love to, Monsieur." As if it were planned my friend Sarah, who played Grantaire happened to walk past.
"I am agog! I am aghast! Is Marius in love at last? I have never heard him ooh and aah." She sang.
"Oh go away Sarah." I shooed her away. "Sorry about her. She's always trying to get me with someone. It's just a drink!" I shouted in Sarah's direction.
"Whatever you wanna call it!" She shouted back. The Frenchman in front of me laughed slightly.
"Ma cherie. I hate to break up this great moment, but shall we?" He held out a hand to me which I gladly took.
"Hey! Y/N! Make sure he's a Cosette and not an Eponine!" Sarah shouted as we started walking out. The Frenchman turned to her.
"That was low." He said as we both walked out laughing.
