New school, great. This means I have more routes and hallways to learn. I try to memorise them as I can't see them. This is a very prestigious school. The Ouran Academy. I was searching for a quiet place to read when I opened a door. "Welcome." A group of people said in unison. I assumed they were male as their voices were slightly lower than girls. Being blind I can tell very slight tone and sound changes.
"I-i am sorry I think I must have the wrong room." I heard someone step closer to me." He took my hand.
"A new guest. Welcome to the Ouran high school host club. How have I not seen a beautiful lady like yourself around before."
"I'm new here."
"Ah. So you thought you'd find somewhere to spend your time, with the most attractive young men in the school."
"I wouldn't say you're all attractive." He backed off slightly, stammering something incoherent.
"Tamaki. This young lady is blind. She can't tell what you look like." A second voice spoke. His voice gradually got louder as he walked towards me. He took my hand. "I am Kyoya Ootori."
"Kyo-chan" a very young sounding voice spoke. "How did you know she was blind?"
"It was obvious. The cane, used to sense objects in front of her and she dropped her book." He picked it up and handed it to someone.
"It has no writing in it." The young sounding one spoke.
"It's Braille honey senpai." A female sounding voice said. "She reads it with her fingertips."
"So you see nothing." The young one- honey, spoke as a draft of air hit my face.
"Yes. I see nothing but stop waving your hand in front of my face. I feel the air."
"Mitskuni that's enough." A very deep voice spoke.
"Wait. Could you all tell me your names? So I can put names to a voice. I know Kyoya and that the little one waving his hand in front of me again is Honey?"
"I'm Haruhi Fujioka." The female voice said shaking my hand.
"Takashi Morinozuka. Just Mori." The deep voice spoke.
"We are Hikaru and Kaoru. The Hitachiin twins." Two people spoke in unison.
"And I am Tamaki Suoh." He gently took my hand and lead me to a chair.
"I-I just came here to read. Really." I protested.
"Just go with it. They won't take no for an answer." Haruhi whispered in my ear. I smiled.
"Okay okay. Not so fast."
"Would the young lady care for a drink?" He asked.
"Tea -"
"-Yes tea. As you can see we have a... Wait. You can't see. Uh."
"Hold up there you don't have to beat around the bush about it. No I can't see it's fine." I got up and walked over to a shelving unit. Feeling each tea box for the Braille in the bottom corner. Once I found one that I liked I brought it back to the table. "This one."
"No one ever picks that one. Are you sure?" He asked.
"Chai tea has a beautiful flavour with all the spices in it. The cinnamon and cloves remind me of Christmas."
"Oh. Hikaru. Kaoru. Make her the tea."
"Would you like some cake?" Honey asked.
"Oh. Thank you. But I shouldn't." I smiled down at him.
"But one little piece wouldn't hurt."
"Okay. You've convinced me. One piece." He placed a plate in front of me. It smelt lovely.
"Leave us now. I wish to speak with her alone." Tamaki requested and shortly after I heard the others walk away. Tamaki sat back at the table and began tapping his fingers upon the surface of it.
"Please stop that. It's all I can hear and is driving me mad." He stopped and cleared his throat. "Cat got your tongue."
"No. I was just about to ask how long you've been here."
"Oh just a few days. Learning where to go is hard. Let alone when you can't see."
"Then allow me to be your personal escort. I will walk you to and from classes." I thought for a moment.
"Okay. On one condition. When I've learnt the routes you will spend a day blindfolded to see what it's like. Let the blind lead the blind."
"Deal."
-a few weeks later.-
"Come on Tamaki. You promised." I wined climbing on top of him. Blindfold in hand. I sighed "I hoped it wouldn't come to this.. Mori. Could you hold down Tamaki for me?" He wakes over and held Tamaki still for me as I tied the blindfold on. Just as it was all tied I heard people scream.
"The lights have gone out." Honey said scared. I decided to lead Tamaki around at night. I figured it'll be safer for everyone else that way.
"It's so dark I can't see a thing." Kaoru complained.
"Oh no. What a nightmare." I retorted sarcastically.
"Oh. Right. Sorry." He apologised.
"No one thought to bring a torch or something?" I asked. "Great. Okay guys. Follow the sound of my voice. Tamaki come here." I took his hand. Slowly I walked everyone to the door and into the moonlit courtyard.
"Thank you thank you thank you. Oh I will never look at a blind person the same again. I have so much respect for you." Tamaki spoke while hugging me lifting me from the ground. "You're amazing, wonderful, the best person I've ever met."
"Don't overdo it boss." The twins said in unison.
"Will you uh like to go out and do something with me say, Friday?"
"I'd love to. Ohhh. I could bring Levi."
"Who.. Who's Levi?"
"Oh he's strong, brave, loyal, obedient."
"Obedient?"
"He's her guide dog Tamaki." Kyoya said laughing with the rest of us.
"You really thought it was a guy? Haha. Oh Tamaki. Yes I'll go with you but Levi will come too. He's very protective."
"I have a way with dogs though. He'll love me." He said confidently.
"Well. I'll see you then." I said walking away. A date with Tamaki. Not bad. Hehe.
