A/N Just a quick trigger warning. Mentions of attempted suicide. It's a part of the manga but just a warning for anyone who is triggered by this kind of topic.

"Yukio! What are you doing?!" Rin yelled as his brother stood on the edge of the building.
"What I should've done years ago!" He shouted back, "I'm incapable of protecting you, the girl I love has left me and I'm practically powerless against any demon we fight." He cried. Rin's eyes shifted to mine, his brother not knowing that I was stood behind him.
"She went into hiding. You know this! She loves you and so do I! You're my brother you idiot." "Goodbye Rin." He sighed before stepping out.
"Tas!" I shouted, his body was immediately bound in spiritual ribbons as I pulled him back onto the roof. He was laying on his back his arms bound to his sides, wrapped in my spiritual ribbons.
"Y-y/n?" Yukio's eyes widened.
"You were actually going to do it?" I didn't look at him. "You were actually going to kill yourself! You were going to leave me!" I snapped. "Rin called me saying you had gone downhill, I didn't expect this much."
"You left me! You just up and left! I thought it was my fault!" I knelt down next to him.
"You know what I am. I told you it wasn't safe to be around me. I knew evil was coming so I had to go into hiding. I was protecting the cram school." I explained. "I'm taking you back with me this time. I've arranged for a cover teacher for your lessons and you're coming with me." I stood up, "up." The bindings rose up carrying Yukio. I took out my key and placed it into the lock of a nearby door.
"Where are you taking me?" He questioned.
"Home. Where I came from." I sighed opening the door. "Rin. I will help your brother." I lead him through and shut the door behind me as the door turned into a stone slab. I snapped my fingers, illuminating the torches lining the stone corridor. I released Yukio of his bindings and took his hand.
"What is this place?" He asked, adjusting his glasses with his free hand.
"Home." I lead him into a small chamber with paintings all over the walls. "Well, technically a tomb but it is a place full of ancient magic." I pulled out a spare set of linen robes. "Put that on. It's easier to conduct magic in natural products." He took off his uniform and handed it to me. "Hand over the keys and guns." I smiled.
"But. How else am I going to protect myself if necessary? I need the keys to go to the Japan branch for meetings." He argued.
"Here there is no need. This is holy ground, nothing can get through these walls." I smiled, "Now Hand them over." I demanded. He reluctantly handed me his belongings. "Sit." I pushed a stool towards him. "This Is going to be strange and potentially terrifying for you but I must know the extent of what you're going through. How heavy your heart weighs in your chest." I turned to the wall behind me. "Mother, I beg of you. Allow me your power, let me see his heart." From the wall appeared a large set of scales upon one side sat a feather. I stepped up in front of Yukio. "Do you trust me?"
"What?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Of course." He stared up into my eyes. I reached through his rib cage and pulled out his heart. His eyes widened and he went to cry out but nothing came. I placed the heart on the opposite side of the scales and it tilted towards the heart. I picked it up and pushed it back into his chest. Yukio sat panting, tears falling down his face.
"You are out of balance Yukio." I stated, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Your self-doubt is a burden, dragging your soul deeper into despair."
"Y-you Just..." he mumbled under his breath, placing his hand over his chest, gripping the linen covering it.
"Yeah. Ma'at is my mother. I can judge anyone before they die, in an attempt to change their fate."
"I'm condemned anyway. You're wasting your time." He sighed, standing up. "Let me go home. There's nothing you can do."
"Not going to happen. Balance must be achieved." I responded, pulling him into a hug. "No one is fully condemned, your blood does not determine the purity of your soul." I took his face in my hands, "What happened to the Yukio I knew? The one who would be a doctor, the one who was the youngest exorcist in history, the one who would do anything to help people in need." I pressed my forehead against his. "The one I fell in love with." He Just stepped back, turning away from me. "And you have the nerve to shout at me about shutting you out. We will regain balance Yukio. I won't allow you to take your own life because of self pity."
6 months later.
"Are you ready?" I smiled, resting my forehead against his. He took my hand and placed it on his chest. My hand entered his chest pulling his heart out, this time he just smiled. This time the scales stayed perfectly still, even tilting towards the feather. I picked up the heart and placed it back in his chest.
"Well. I can say that you're the only girl who ever took my heart." He smiled. "I can't wait to see Rin and the others. To start teaching again."
"Well. I thought we could stay here a little longer." I smirked, pushing him back onto my bed. I took ahold of his wrists, "tas" the sacred ribbons wrapped themselves around his wrists as I tied them above his head.
"Perhaps we could wait a little longer." He grinned.
The next day I handed him his uniform and keys. "I'll keep this on for now." He looked down at his linen shendyt.
"At least use this too. Don't want the girls at the cram school to get too excited." I laughed handing him a simple Weskh collar which covered up part of his chest. I placed the key into a hole in the slab at the tomb entrance and walked into the cram school.
I knocked on the door gaining a groan from Shura on the other side. "Fine. I'll take him back to Egypt." I laughed. The door flew open revealing the whole class on the other side. "I've brought someone back." I smiled.
"Yukio!" Rin ran out embracing his little brother. "What are you wearing?" He laughed.
"Don't worry about that." I smiled, "I won't be coming back, I need to get back to my tomb, demons are still searching for me."
"No." Yukio spoke up from the middle of a group hug. "I can help protect you." He smiled, pulling me into the middle of the hug with him.
"Well serves me right for trying to help you. Looks like I'm stuck with you now Okumura." I laughed, my forehead resting against his, my arms draped around his neck.
"Looks like you are." He grinned. It took a long time to get here but now his soul was at peace and he can be happy.
