Again, you'll have to add the accent yourself, I am far too lazy to write the accent into the story. Sorry haha.
2286 words.
Working with all these lads can be challenging sometimes, I have to be both a mercenary and their bloody mother 90% of the time. Some keep to themselves and don't cause too much trouble on base. Demo is easy to deal with, hand him a bottle and he'll be happy. Engie Is always working on new stuff and actually helps some of the time, he's also a surprisingly good cook. Medic spends most of his time in his lab. Pyro is uh. Pyro I guess. Soldier trains a lot so stays outta my way but has had some... slip ups i.e the bread incident. Heavy spends his time tending to Sasha, he's also a super nice guy. Just don't touch the gun. Spy, Sniper and Scout. Those three I would transfer to BLU just to shoot them in the head. Personally I don't have a "class" I just dabble. Whatever's needed really.
Anyway, today was no different to any other day I woke up and all I could hear was shouting. When I reached the kitchen there was a giant argument over something or other. Nearly everyone participating bar Medic and Engie, some sane people at least, until Sniper made a dig at one of Engie's turret designs and even he joined the argument.
Tiredly I edged round them all to the coffee machine. I poured two cups of coffee and edged over to Medic. "Coffee?" I asked handing him the cup.
"Danke." He yawned, his glasses perched atop his head, dark circles under his eyes.
"How long have you been awake?" I asked.
"I don't know. I lost count at 48 hours." He rubbed his eyes as he sipped the coffee.
"You're a doctor. You should know that's not good for you." I scalded. "You need to rest."
"Nein. I need to work." He stated placing the empty cup on the counter. "Danke für den Kaffee." He mumbled as he trudged off to his lab once more and I was left in the hell that was the mass argument. I grabbed Spy's knife from the counter throwing it at Scout, pinning his hat to the opposing wall via the lip at the front. Every mercenary stopped and looked up at me.
"Can you guys shut up?! I don't care who started it or what it was about but it's not how I wanna wake up in the morning. It's the first ceasefire we've had in months and I WAS planning on sleeping in! If I hear so much as one word of bickering today I won't hesitate to launch you into the BLU camp with "have at me" tattooed to your forehead!" I shouted before picking the knife from the wall, "I'm keeping this." and walking out.
As I walked away I heard Scout mumble "someone got outta bed on the wrong side eh?"
"One more word, I'll cut out your tongue." I called back.
I had a few hours of peace and quiet. It was bliss, I did some reading and filled out a little paperwork before I heard a huge crash. It came from the Medic's lab. If one of those ass holes was trying to piss off the medic I pity them, sleep deprived Medic is scary, especially if you disturb him. I decided to check it out and hey if I can watch one of the others get übersaw'd into little pieces, bonus. When I opened the door it was just Medic on his knees picking up a number of utensils and trays. I walked over and helped him. When he stood up he looked terribly off balance, hardly able to keep his eyes open.
"Okay. You're coming with me." I wrapped my arm around his leading him out of the lab.
"Nein." He pulled against me, "work. I'm so close to improving mein übercharge." A well rested medic could probably lift me off my feet with one hand, he's a well built man but this tired I was able to pull him away from his work to my room.
"Let me take a look at it, you never know. Fresh pair of eyes could work it out." I smiled and sat him on the edge of my bed. "If anyone needs healing I'm perfectly capable. You taught me how to use the medigun. Remember." I reassured. "You need to sleep." I removed his glasses and placed them on the bedside table. I held out my hand, "tie and jacket." I demanded, he removed both and laid down. "Gute nacht." I smiled. I had to learn German to read his notes. He finds it easier to write in German. Fair enough. I walked out and left him to sleep. On the door I placed a sign 'do not wake on pain of death.' With a little heart next to it. Just for added effect. I pulled on Medic's coat, yeh it was big but hey, if I'm working in his lab I'm not getting dirty. I could go back to my room and get my medic uniform but I don't want to wake him. Once in the lab Archimedes flew over and sat on my head. "Hey Archimedes." I held my finger to the white dove and he happily perched on it. "Has he been working too hard again?" The bird just tilted his head to the side. "Look at me. I'm talking to a bird." I placed the bird on the desk and walked around. As always the lab was covered in blood and bits and pieces from bodies he'd collected. To be honest it doesn't phase me, I'm just glad I'm on his team, that's all. I started by cleaning the lab, mopping the floor and wiping his examination table. I have to come here for procedures too so I want it clean. I organised his notes and sat down to work on the medigun and improve the efficiency of the übercharge.
After a while of tinkering with it it was ready to test. I carried the medigun to the training room where I found Soldier. Perfect. "Hey. Soldier! Mind if I charge ya?! Been workin' on something for the medic." I gave him and some of the others who were training a quick heal to build up the übercharge and walked towards the Soldier. "Ready?" I asked. He gave me a thumbs up and I activated the übercharge it lasted about a second longer than normal which is a significant improvement.
After this I returned to the lab to document this, ensuring to write it all in German for the Medic.
I spent a while talking with the BLU Spy head in the fridge. Mostly him asking me to kill him and me saying no and seeing how annoyed I could make him, the best was taping him to a wheely stool and kicking it across the room. Watching a dignified spy scream was most amusing.
After a number of hours I was getting tired. No one was gonna get themselves hurt at this time, if they did they could die, Medic will work something out in the morning.
I walked back to my room, shedding my oversized coat, placing it on the hook on the back of the door. I changed into my pyjamas and climbed into bed. Something felt different but I was too tired to care.
I woke up in the morning realising what was odd last night. As I was laying with my head on a chest and a strong arm around me. I didn't want to wake Medic so I settled back to sleep.
The next time I woke up I was in the same position but I could feel eyes burning into me. The way he was laying felt more tense like he was aware of how we were laying and was self conscious of it. I sat up blushing slightly. "I'm sorry. I forgot I let you sleep in here." His grey/blue eyes peered into my own. "It uh. It won't happen again." I looked away and got out of bed, instead of picking up my dressing gown I slipped on his coat and wandered out to the kitchen, still kinda half asleep. I poured two cups of coffee and went to walk out until scout stopped me.
"Didn't know you and the Med were THAT kinda close." He smirked.
"Hmm?" I questioned, looking at my clothes. I was in my pyjamas, a vest top and some hot pants with the Medic's oversized jacket over the top. "No no. I just picked it up. I wore it yesterday while in his lab."
"Spent the day in the lab eh? Lemme guess he taught ya about 'anatomy'?" He asked smirking, using air quotations.
"No! He was asleep and I did his job." Have to admit I have thought of the idea that Scout implied but I'd never admit that to anyone else. "Now. If you don't mind I have somewhere to be."
"Yeah with TWO cups of coffee." He mocked.
"Just cos he's more likely to get some than you." I smirked before walking out. I reached my room to see Medic was gone. I walked to his lab and he was in the back room changing his shirt, he was fiddling with a tie as I walked in. "You left. I was gonna bring you coffee."
"I have work to do." He shrugged pulling the tie off in frustration. I placed the coffees on the table and walked over to him. I pushed his chin up gently with my fingers and done up his top button. I picked the tie off the floor and tied a perfect Windsor knot before straightening his collar.
"There you go." I smiled. "Oh. Here's your coat too." I pulled the jacket off and handed it back to the doctor.
"Why are you so kind to me." He asked placing the jacket back around me, not looking at me until I'd wrapped myself in it.
"You work so hard. You're always good to me, I'm just returning the favour." I sat on the examination table chatting to him, telling Medic about my antics of the previous day. Especially what I did to the spy head and his medigun.
"An extra second? That's amazing. How did you do it?" He asked. I opened the medigun to reveal what changes I had made. "Why didn't I think of that?" He sat back in his chair looking annoyed with himself.
"I'm sure you would've but you were so tired." I smiled. "So. You uh, doing anything this evening?" I asked, blushing lightly.
"No." He responded his cheeks equally red.
"You could come and sleep with me again... not like that! Like last night... I mean, unless you want it to be like that.. probably not though. I mean why would you, it's stupid of me to ask anyway. Forget I said anything actually." I laughed nervously before walking away before the medic could say a word.
Later that night I was in the bath, a candle burning and a book in my hand. I wasn't expecting a knock on the door. I just shouted "it's open. I'm in the bathroom." Then I heard the last voice I expected.
"Is everything alright?" The thick German accent spoke.
"Yeah I'm just in the bath." I called back. "One second." I climbed out and then it hit me, my towel and clothes were on my bed. "I need something to put on. Could you pass me my stuff please?" I asked through the door. I heard a quick shuffle and the door open no more than 10cm. On the other side was the Medic, holding my clothes and towel with his eyes shut. I quickly dried and got dressed for bed again. I came out and Medic was sat on my bed reading one of my array of books. "Sorry about that. Thank you." He just smiled, pushing his glasses up on his nose. I quickly dried my hair and sat next to him, he put the book down and turned to me. "I apologise for earlier. I don't know why I said all that." I shrugged refusing to look at him, I was too embarrassed. He placed his fingers under my chin, turning me to I was staring into his icy blue eyes.
"You never let me answer through Fräulein." He smiled. "I have never slept better than when I was with you, and if you'd ever desire anything... more, I'd be honoured to oblige." Did he just admit to wanting to sleep with me? I just learnt my head on his shoulder, kinda unsure as of what to say. We sat in a comfortable silence, at some point I'd laid down and he'd excused himself to change into something to sleep in. I was facing away from the door reading my book, when he re entered the room. I looked over my shoulder, he wore white pyjama trousers with little red crosses on them and a black t-shirt. He climbed in behind me and wrapped an arm around me.
"Still reading up on the cardiovascular system?" He asked.
"Yeh. Working as you yesterday made me think I didn't know as much as I thought. I haven't had to be a doctor in ages, you always do too good of a job to need me." I laughed, putting down the book and laying my head on his chest. "I could get used to this." I sighed, feeling content for the first time in a while.
"Ja. Me too mein liebe." It didn't take long for me to fall asleep, this was just the start of things yet to come.-Jadieelynchx
