"It's no less than you deserve." My mum scolded. "You were stupid enough to go into that city and now I hope you are reminded of that." She threw a bag my way. "You better get going. If you think you can look after yourself."
My face hurt from the recent criminal mark branded onto my skin. Now my heart hurt just as bad, she was kicking me out. "take your things and go. You're nearly nineteen now, you should have a job, you should be living your own life and not at home." I could see the tears she was holding back, she was still my mum, she still loved me but she was right I had to leave, families with a 'criminal' in them are looked down upon, I don't want that. Not for my mum, not for my little brother. I walked around my room looking for everything I needed to take with me. Clothes, a photo of my family, my deck, my phone, I don't have much. we never really did, I walked into my brother's room. He was sat on the floor surrounded by cards, the small eight year old sorting out his 'perfect deck' it may not have been perfect to others but to him it was and that was enough. He has a thing for dragons, his deck is built around them. I pulled out my deck.

"Kian, come here." the small blonde boy looked up and walked over, he looked up at me with his bright hazel eyes. "does mum know you're still awake?" he smiled and shook his head. "I've gotta go, I don't know if or when I'm coming back. Before I go I want you to have something." I pulled a card from my deck and handed it to him, his face lit up. "you know who's card this was? This card belonged to a great duelist. Our great great grandfather. This was one of his favourite cards, the Red Eyes Black Dragon. Keep it and do the Wheeler name proud yeh?"

"Where are you going?" he asked as I stood back up after hugging him.

"I don't know. let's just say I'm going on an adventure."

"I'm going to miss you (Y/N)." he said hugging my legs.

"I'm going to miss you too Baby Dragon." I hugged back. "when you're older you can come find me yeh? Have your own adventure."

"Okay." he sniffed wiping his eyes. I stood and walked out to the garage. I pulled the tarp off my runner.

"Just you and me now." I mumbled to myself running my hand over the cold metal, "you and me against the world." I grabbed my helmet and got on the bike. I rode away, down the road away from the only home I had.

I pulled up at a park, I've never been to this park before... I pulled the waterproof tarp I packed in my bag and draped it over myself and my bike. I pulled out a sleeping bag I grabbed. I guess ill have to sleep here. I thought, pulling the bag up around me. I used my duffle bag as a pillow and drifted off to sleep. I'll find a place to live in the morning.

I was woken up way before morning though. Bright lights and the sound of motorcycles quickly pulled me from sleep. Oh god. Am I gonna get mugged? Or worse... could today get any worse? My train of thought was interrupted as the tarp was lifted and a bright light was shone directly in my eyes. I covered my eyes. "Ah, too bright!"

"Crow, you idiot! You're blinding the girl." A strong male voice said from behind the light. The light was lowered. "What's your name? Why are you out in the cold like this?" His voice was calm and soothing.

"I.. I uh. I had to leave home. I'd have brought shame on my family." I placed my hand over the mark down the side of my face.

"You wouldn't bring shame on them. That mark just means that a corrupt authority didn't agree with what you did." Another voice spoke. A cockney British accent ringing through his words.

"Still. I have no where else so here seemed nice enough."

"Come with us." The first voice spoke again. A hand was stretched out to me. "We won't hurt you." I took his hand and he helped me up. "Follow us." I got on my bike and followed them. When inside he approached me. He was tall with black hair that stood up at all angles, highlights of blonde through some strands. His eyes a deep blue, he had a mark down the side of his face. He was like me! "I'm Yusei. Yusei Fudo."

"Y/N Y/L/N." I said, looking down at my bag.

"Need a hand?"

"No, I got it thanks." I placed my bag on the bed and pulled out my deck, duel disk and some other things.

"You duel?"

"Yeh. I have a very old deck. Some ancient cards in there." He picked up the deck and started flicking through them.

"Woah... Wow!" he paused part of the way through the deck. "You have the winged dragon of Ra?!" His face was pure shock. "I thought that this card... I-it's mythic. How do you have it?"

"Yugi Muto never had kids but he gave his cards to his godson, my great grandfather. It's been handed down to me."

"You knew the king of games."

"Not personally, no."

"No, but still. This is amazing. Duel often?"

"With whoever I could find that knew how to duel. I've dreamt of competing though. Properly, making a life of it. Win myself some money, buy a nice house, go back home..." a tear rolled down my cheek, the salty water burning over the raw skin of the fresh mark which only made more tears follow suit."

"Hey, don't cry. You can still go home. Give it a year, let things die down, write to them and then in a year go back."

"is that what you did?"

"No. my parents are dead."

"I'm Sorry Yusei."

"Its okay, you weren't to know. Hey, yano what'll make you feel better?" I looked up at him a smile returning to my face.

"What?"

"A good ride and a duel. I know a great place to duel, there are miles of road, it'll be great."

"Okay." I nodded wiping the tears away flinching slightly when brushing my sleeve over the criminal mark.

"The pain doesn't last either. You'll be okay.  follow me." We got onto our runners and rode out into the night and what a night it was...
