So yet another request. I'm loving doing this. This one is for AbellaLove_101 hope you enjoy it.
Stay inside. Never leave the house. That's all I've been told throughout my life. 'Your gift can get you killed.' That's what they always say. So I can see the future? I never really saw how that can get me killed. I wanted to share my skills, me and my family live in the lower circle below the palace. We are the lowest of the low. If I used my gift I could earn money as a fortune teller.
They say that my gift would scare people because of my eyes. They are different colours, one is normal but the other is gold. Mum calls it the mark of my gift. But they are not here. They are out, travelling to another village for work. I'm just going to do it. I pull a shawl around my shoulders and over my head. It covers my eyes slightly and a bit of my face so no one will know who I am.
I sit at a corner a few streets from my house. "Fortune! Futures read for a few coins!" I heard a coin fall into the bowl I brought with me. "Sit down. Please sir." I lowered my head away from him. "Your hand." He offered me his hand, I looked at it as I took it, golden rings on his fingers and gold bands up his wrist. I couldn't help but look up at him. I backed up letting go of his hand. "My pharaoh!" I struggled into a low bow. He took my wrists making sit back up.
"No. Sit up. Can you really see the future?"
"I-I can." He smiled softly at me.
"Prove it. If you are right I will return tomorrow." He held his hand out to me. I focused myself. Just his immediate future I thought.
"You will walk away, turn the corner. A young boy will run into you, no taller than waist height. Your head of security will come over and scald the boy but you will insist he meant no harm and you will all go on your way." I looked back at him, reciting the vision as I saw it.
"How far forward can you see?" He asked.
"It varies from person to person."
"Oh. Okay. Well. I hope you were right about my future." He smiled and walked off.
I continued reading fortunes until the sun began to set. I made my way home and locked the door so my parents will never know I left. I hid the coins in my room and pretended to be asleep as my parents came home. All I could think about was him. The pharaoh. I've never seen a man so handsome and majestic in my life. But I must stop thinking this way. I am a peasant. This is where I belong. He said he'd be back tomorrow, but I will not be there. I just wish I knew why he'd go back...
Atem's POV. (Just to shake stuff up a bit.)
"Seto! She was right. Her predictions were one hundred percent accurate. I must find her. I will return to that place tomorrow." I spoke, pacing my chambers.
"My pharaoh. You should know, the people down there are thieves and liers. She was most likely a conwoman. She could've hired people to enact the future she told you."
"No. How would she have know Mahad was going to be there? Or that I would excuse the boy?"
"Of course she would know your head of security would accompany you to a place such as THAT." The way he spat the word disgusted me. The people down there do what they must to survive. But her... I know her gift was real.
"Get out Seto. I will look for her and that is the end of it."
"And what then? She is a peasant. Nothing."
"Seto. You would do well to hold your tongue. If I say she is a noble then that is what she will become." He bowed and walked out. "I will find you again."
The following day I walked back to the corner on which I met the young girl. Alas she was not there. Nor the day after or the day after that. This calls for drastic measures.
Normal POV.
My mother pushed me into the room as the Royal guard knocked on our door. "Stay here and do not move." I listened against the door of my room at the events at out front door.
"We have been sent by the pharaoh to find a girl. Young, long brown hair, eyes of two different colours." A man spoke.
"N-no. I've never seen anyone like that." My mother answered.
"Step aside ma'am. We need to search. It won't take long." He spoke his voice growing louder as he approached my room. "What's in here?"
"It's storage." She answered. But nevertheless, the door flew open. The large guard grabbed my wrist.
"This is the girl. She is coming with us." He pulled my hands together and tied them as he pushed me towards the door.
"Y/N! What did you do?!" My mother called after me as she was held back by another guard.
"Nothing! I love you mother!" I called as I was pushed out and to the palace where I was thrown at the feet of the pharaoh. I looked up, he looked horrified. I followed his gaze and it was not aimed at me.
"I asked her to be brought to me. Not arrested! She is a guest! Treat her as such!" His voice, so commanding. I lowered my head and stayed on my knees even though the ropes around my had been cut off. "Please. Stand." He spoke, more gently this time. I kept my head down.
"My pharaoh. I apologise for anything I may have done. If I offended you when we met I am sorry." I spoke looking at the ground. A soft hand gently lifted my head, and I stared into the amethyst eyes before me.
"The only crime of which you are guilty is not meeting me again." I looked away again.
"I am sorry. My parents keep me in the house. They warned me this gift could get me killed."
"You are my guest, your gift is amazing and I would love to get to know you better." He spoke, running his fingers through my hair.
"I am a commoner. Lower than that. I am nothing. I cannot possibly be the guest of a pharaoh."
"You have a gift, something that as I know only a member of my royal court can do, that makes you special."
"Thank you." I bowed my head. "I have one request if I may?"
"Anything." He smiled. Oh his smile was beautiful, so radiant. No. Concentrate.
"May I speak with my parents. Tell them I am okay, where I will be staying."
"Oh. Of course I will have someone bring them here. They can stay as my guests too. Anything that will make you happy."
Anything to make me happy? Why me? I can't allow myself to fall for him, it is not allowed. But why do I feel so dizzy because he is close to me? Why is my heart beating this fast? Why am I not stepping away as he leans forward?
"My pharaoh." A guard spoke and he stepped back again. "The girl's parents are being fetched as we speak. I shall show her to the guest chambers."
"Very good. I will see you later. We will talk over dinner. I will have some better robes brought up to your chambers for you to wear. They should be more comfortable that what you are currently wearing."
"I will see you soon my Pharaoh." I bowed walking out and following the guard.
I guess it really is too late to stop myself falling in love. As I accept my feelings images flash before my eyes. A marriage ceremony, sitting in the throne room alongside the pharaoh, children, a son and a daughter. I usually hate seeing my own future but this just confirmed in my mind, that the pharaoh loved me too. I suppose love can be found in the lowest slums of Egypt.
Sooooo. I hope you like it. I know it's late but I've had a lot of coursework due tomorrow so I've been getting that done.
I now have no classes for like a month. Why am I still at uni?! I could just go home! So I will be doing as many requests as I can so request away.
