"Hey. I'm home!" I looked up from my work at the table to see my wonderful Husband stood in the doorway.
"Good evening." I strode over to him embracing him in a hug. "Have a good day today dear?"
"Dear?!" A voice shouted from behind him. I looked down to what appeared to be two children.
"Roy. Why have you brought two children home with you?" I sighed.
"Roy?! Children?!" The short one shouted again.
"The little one has quite the temper." The smaller of the two boys approached me, before he could take another step Roy picked him up by his hood. "Watch it Fullmetal. She's not a woman you wanna pick a fight with." Wait. HE'S the Fullmetal Alchemist.
"Hmm. Thought you'd be taller." I mocked.
"You wanna go lady." He smirked. I pulled off the plain white glove on my right hand revealing the transmutation circle tattooed on the back of my hand. He shrank back slightly. "On second thoughts. Maybe not." He turned to Roy. "Care to explain Colonel?"
"Yeh, Colonel." I smirked. "Do explain."
He cleared his throat. "There isn't much to explain." He reached down under his shirt to pull out a slim golden chain upon which was a gold ring. He walked over to me holding up my left hand. "It's simple. She's my wife." He turned to me. "This is Edward and Alphonse Elric. The Fullmetal Alchemist and his brother. They need a place to stay until they are sent back to Resembool tomorrow." He flashed me an award winning smile. "It's not too much trouble is it. If need be I can make it an order. I'm still your commanding officer."
"No. No trouble at all. And I'm a consulting alchemist. That's how we worked it out. Only in times of combat can you call on me. Just so you know where you stand Colonel." I spoke with a smirk, pulling him down by his collar so we were inches apart.
"Ahem! Still here. In the door. In the cold." Edward spoke. "However if you two are going to keep flirting like school children Al and I will go find an inn to stay in." I grabbed the short alchemist by his hood.
"Your commanding officer told you you're staying. I made a stew, it was going to be kept for tomorrow as well. However I can make something different tomorrow." I smiled. "Now if you boys could set the table that'd be great." I set out some candles on the table to add a little extra light. "Roy, if you please." He just smiled and snapped his fingers, lighting the candles.
"How come she gets to call you Roy?" Fullmetal spoke pouting.
"Because she's my wife!" He shouted back. I placed a plate of food in front of everyone. The two young boys just sat staring at it. I gestured for them to try it. Edward and Alphonse tucked in.
"Mustang! How did you get someone so perfect?!" He cried. I laughed slightly.
"Yes. This food is delicious." Alphonse said from his seat across from me. "Thank you Mrs Mustang." He smiled.
"Oh please. Just Y/N." I sat chatting to the younger Elric brother. He was much more mature than the other, who was asking Roy all kinds of questions. To which Roy answered with an extremely smug look on his face.
After dinner I showed the brothers to their room and bid them goodnight. I then made my way to mine and Roy's room. He was already in there, in bed. His head buried in more paperwork. I got out of my uniform and slipped in next to him. "More work?"
"Mmhmm."
"Those brothers are actually alright kids. They got their heads on straight."
"Hmm."
"Why do I get the feeling this is a one way conversation?"
"Mm."
"You know I could be saying anything and you're not paying the slightest bit of attention." I laughed. "I'm giving up alchemy." I kept trying to think up outlandish lies to get him to listen. "I think Jean Havoc is really hot." "I wear your clothes and impersonate you when you're not home just for my own amusement." Nothing was working. So I leant closer, rested my head on his shoulder and just said nonchalantly, "Roy, I'm pregnant." He jumped with shock, so much he fell out of bed. I laughed helping him back in. "Yeh. That was the only true thing I've said since I came in this room." I smiled.
"I was going to tell you over dinner but with the boys there I thought I'd wait until we were alone."
"Tell me again." He spoke, his onyx eyes shining in the pale light that hit his face through the gap in the curtains. "Look me in the eyes and tell me again."
I took his hand and looked into his eyes. "Roy Mustang. You are going to be a father." He couldn't stop smiling, he even started crying. I pulled him close to me. "Oh Roy."
"My dear. You have just made my day, no, you've made my life." He spoke softly, his hand cupping the side of my face, his thumb gently caressing my cheek. He leant in, kissing my softly. I kissed back, it was almost like he was saying thank you. I pulled back and rested my head on his chest, inhaling deeply. As always he smelt like charcoal, I've never disliked the scent, it's become like home to me. We always lay this way, him slightly sat up and me on his chest as he's not the best person when it comes to sleep. We've both seen so much whereas I didn't have a direct line of sight with my victims he had to. "I met a young Ishvalan today." I said in a low tone. "She came up to me, me a military soldier. And you know what she asked me for?" I buried my head further in his chest. "She held out an empty bowl to me and asked me for water. Heh. Ironic isn't it." I felt him sit up further.
"What did you do?"
"The only thing I could. I used my alchemy. I filled the bowl. I followed her, she took it to an elderly woman. Most likely a grandmother. A survivor of the war." I paused. "She drank it, I refilled the bowl they both looked at me. I said it was for the girl. Then it happened. The woman recognised me." I cried. "There she was cowering in fear. One half of the deadliest pair of alchemists to stand on the battlefield. You and I. If they weren't burnt to death then they'd surely drown. Running from one would lead you to the other. She asked me if I was happy. I told her that I couldn't be happy with the mass genocide I was a part of I would say I only did it because I was ordered to but I fought to stay alive back there. Back in Ishval. She listened. But she told the girl I was the one who killed her mother, and my partner killed her father. But this stupid little girl. She ran to me, hugged my legs. These big red eyes staring up at me. I couldn't help but cry. And then. She forgave me!" I cried, slamming my hand down on the bed, unintentionally freezing the mattress. "Me the woman who killed her mother, she forgave me. And you the man who killed her father. This young girl understood why we fought, for our own lives. And she forgave us." I smiled slightly. "How could we of all people bring a child into this. A child born of fire, ice and water. The most unnatural combination don't you think."
"No." He spoke, his warm had resting on my back. "The perfect combination. We are so different that we are perfect. Where you're from. Up in the north, what do people do in funerals?"
"We light candles and float them down the river." I responded and the I understood.
"Correct me if I'm wrong. Don't you do the same at weddings?"
"Yes. It is to guide the soul in death and guide the newly joined souls into their new life together." He smiled down at me.
"See. Fire and water. Perfect."
"Yes. Perfect."

Ugh I haven't written in ages and I just adore Roy Mustang. Expect quite a few of these.
