I flew into my room through the window, hitting the ground hard as I did so. Moments later there came a knock at the door. "Everything Okay y/n?" Yukio spoke from the other side of my door.
"Uh. Yeh. Just fell out of bed. That's all." I lied, gritting my teeth as my excellerated healing took over. "I'll- I'll be out in a minute. You two go ahead without me."
"No. I'm happy to wait. Class isn't for another 20 minutes and we can use my key." He replied.
"Fine." I muttered. "Ugh. This boy is going to get me killed." I spoke under my breath as the last of my wounds closed. I ached and was rather weak but I'll be fine. I quickly changed into a clean school uniform and sheathed my sword, hiding my wings from view. I use the same technique that Mephisto used on Rin for myself. I Neatened my hair and opened the door.
"You look tired y/n." He pointed out, his face conveying concern.
"Well I was up all night completing the homework that YOU set so can you blame me?" I laughed.
"If you needed help you could've asked." He smiled.
"What? And exploit the fact I'm dating my teacher? Ha. Never. I'll become a great exorcist on my own thanks."
"Ok. Let's go." He placed his key in the door as Rin came running up the hallway, late as usual.
I can't help but think about everything that brought me here.
"I am Y/n angel and knight of heaven. You have summoned me Paladin Shiro Fujimoto. You get one request. Choose wisely." I spoke standing inside the sacred circle to which I am now bound.
"I want you to protect one of the boys I care for." He stated.
"The spawn of Satan?!" I stepped back and hit the barrier of the circle. "Fujimoto! This is an outrage. You ask a knight of heaven to lower myself to protect a creature such as that?!"
"Yes." He walked away But shortly returned, two infants in his arms. "I only need you to watch over one."
"I can tell which one. The one sprouting blue flames." I pointed at Rin.
"His flames have been sealed away." Fujimoto looked taken aback.
"My eyes can see what is hidden to humans."
"I see. And no. I want you to look after the other one." He held the child out to me, placing him into my arms. "He was too weak to take his father's power. He will need all the help he can get." The child slept so peacefully but slowly opened his eyes and stared up at me. These big teal eyes taking in all the light in front of him, a smile crossing his face.
"I'll do it." The circle containing me stopped glowing and I was allowed to exit. "I will make myself appear to be his age when he is grown enough to see and understand demons, befriending him is the easiest way to be close enough to protect him."
"Thank you."
....
"Y/n? Y/n!"
"Yes!" I stood up from my desk in shock.
"Are you okay?" Yukio asked standing in front of my desk.
"I'm fine. My sincere apologies mr Okumura. It won't happen again." I sighed sitting back down. I can allow my guard to slip.
Just before class ended there was a knock at the door. As soon as it happened I could Sense it. I'm getting sloppy. Without warning the door was kicked open and there stood Astaroth within one of the true cords Academy student's bodies. I leapt from my seat, standing in front of Yukio.
"Y/n get back don't you know who that is?!" He yelled.
"Ah. We meet again little bird." Astaroth grinned.
"You've met Astaroth?!" Yukio questioned.
"You could say that. She's been a thorn in my side for the past few years."
"And I will continue to be until you give up." I retorted, using my middle and forefinger to draw a line in the air and white light blazed between Astaroth and the rest of us. He pounded his fists against my makeshift ward.
"That... that's a ward line." Yukio pointed out.
"That it Is. Keep up this level of stating the obvious and you'll make a fine exorcist one day." I laughed, grabbing my sword. "I'm sorry Shirō. I didn't want to reveal it just yet." As I drew the sword my body was engulfed in white flames, my wings appearing from my back.
I turned back to Yukio. "You're a -" he started.
"Yes." I placed my hand on his cheek, leaning my forehead to his. "I was tasked with protecting you. My ward won't hold him long. Take your class and get out of here. I can deal with him." I sighed.
"But he's a king of hell."
"And I'm an angel. I'd say we're pretty well matched." I smiled. "I will come back to you. Now go!"
He lingered a moment before turning to his class. "You heard the lady. Everyone out!"
They'd all gone by the time Astaroth was released. "I will take both of them. My young prince and the other. He'll make the perfect vessel for his father."
"Over my dead body demon!"
"That can be arranged little bird." He smirked.
...
"Yukio. We need to go back for her. It's been too long!" I could hear Rin's voice as I stumbled to the dorm.
"She said she'd be back. She promised." Yukio replied.
"She lies to you this whole time about who she was," Sugaro added, "how'd you know you can trust her?"
I propped myself up against the doorframe and answered his question for Yukio, gaining everyone's attention. "Angels can't lie." I spoke through gritted teeth. I dropped to the floor in a pool of my own blood, the golden liquid spreading out around me.
Yukio picked my up and carried me to my room. "Mop up my blood and burn the cloths. It is too powerful should it fall into the wrong hands." Yukio turned to his students in the doorway.
"Shima. You heard her. Do it." He nodded and ran back down the hall. Yukio and Shiemi got to work patching me up, assisting with my normal healing.
When everyone else left it was just Yukio and I. He was kneeling on the floor beside my bed the entire time. That level of love and devotion that filled his eyes, his entire being, you'd never picture him being a demon. "Why me?" He asked, looking at my hand held in his. "Why did you protect me?"
"Shirō asked me to." I replied, "I soon realised that yes demons would come for Rin because he has the flames but you, you would be the perfect vessel for Satan."
"And everything that we did together?" He looked away, pulling his hand from mine. He thinks I don't care. I placed my hand on his cheek, turning his head to face me again.
"Angels can't lie. I never told you because you never asked. When I said that I loved you that's because I do. I can't lie to you. To anyone. Though that isn't a fact I'd ever hide from you."
"But you're an angel and I'm basically a demon." He sighed. "You shouldn't love me."
"Yukio Okumura. I would gladly fall if it meant I could be with you. I have lived thousands of lifetimes and have never felt this kind of happiness. If my immortality means I'll have to live after you're gone What point is there?" I rested my forehead against his. "My beautiful devil's son. Until the day you die I will be here, protecting you."
"Well. For now it looks like I'm protecting you." He smiled.
"That I look forward to."
