(Human) Alphonse Elric x reader

"Hey Al!" I greeted as he walked through the door. I helped him up the step and into the house, taking his crutches off him as he sat on the couch. "How'd it go with the doctor?" I asked as I poured him a cup of tea.
"Great. He says I'm doing much better. Those steps are still an issue though." He laughed slightly.
"You know you could use alchemy to flatten them right?" I placed the cup in one of his hands and took the other in mine.
"Yeh but that defeats the objective of getting stronger doesn't it." He said smiling. "One day I will stand on my own two feet again without any help."
"I know you will Al. I don't care how long it takes but I will be with you every step of the way." I leant my head on his shoulder as he sat drinking his tea, "What do you want to do for the rest of the day? Now that you have your body back you can do so much." He thought long and hard about it, we had begun to do things he'd wanted to since getting his body back. Some things were small things like being able to just hold hands, actually feel things since he had no sense of touch while he was inside the suit of armour. Others were bigger, like being able to walk again.
"Can I bake with you? It's not too strenuous and all i really need to do is stand still. Plus, I love your baking."
"Well Winry and I did bake together as children. All our recipes are what we came up with together, 'her' apple pie is actually 'our' apple pie. So, what should we make Al? Your choice." I sat watching him as he thought. I love watching Alphonse, I hadn't seen him in a body for years, I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't almost forgotten what he looked like. So now I try to take in as much of him as I can, every facial expression, every movement, every look. I know he will never change but it's always there, in the back of my mind. 'what if truth tricked them?' 'What if one day he takes their bodies back?' But I can't think like that.
"Hello? Y/N? Are you listening?" Al waved a hand in front of my face.
"Sorry Al, phased out there. What did you want to do?" I asked, snapping out of my horrid thoughts.
"Oh uh, I said we should do brownies. But first, I want you to tell me what has made you go so pale all of a sudden and zone out like that." his golden eyes piercing into me. He knew me too well for me to lie to him now.
"I was just looking at you, how you've got your body back. I can't help but think that Truth is just tricking us all and will one day take your bodies back, and this time Ed won't be here to bind your soul to something. I know I'm an alchemist and was forced to open the portal, like Mustang and like Ed I lost a leg as a price, but I don't know if I could actually bind your soul to something. Then I'll lose you for good and I can't do that Alphonse."
"Hey, hey. Calm down. It's okay. Look, I'm not going anywhere. Truth may be the one that took my body for trying human transmutation but they are a being of their word and I am here to stay." He kept a tight hold on my hand. I held him tight, still afraid he'd slip away.
"I'd give up anything to ensure you stay." I rubbed my other hand on my automail, "more than a leg I can tell you that." I laughed slightly to myself. "I'd give my right arm to keep you Alphonse Elric." He laughed in response.
"What an odd saying. To give your right arm for something."
"I know. Well. Your brother really did. I guess it came from when alchemy was first discovered to describe the law of equivalent exchange." I explained.
"That's actually a very good theory."
"Don't sound so surprised Al!" I laughed, pushing him lightly but not enough to hurt him. He's still rather fragile.
"I'm not. You're a very skilled alchemist and are amazingly smart. I wouldn't want to be with anyone else."
"I love you Al." I whispered hugging him.
"I love you too."
