"Ya What?! Ya going where?!" Guzma asked, standing up and striding over to me.
"I'm going home. My mother is sick and I need to look after the cafe until she gets better." I shrugged, is my reason for leaving not good enough for him?
"But. You're a part of this family now. You can't just up and leave us. You're the strongest trainer we got." He argued.
"Thanks. You want me for my strength. Not. 'Don't go cos I'll miss you.' All you care about is losing me and my Pokemon. I should've seen that coming though. To think you actually cared." I scoffed, turning around to walk out, pausing for a moment in the hopes he'd stop me. "If she gets better quickly I'll come back. If not.... it's been fun." I held back the tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I'd developed quite the affection for my 'boss' and for him to just give up and let me leave it really hit home that I was only just one of the grunts to him. "I'll see ya round Guzma." I waved before walking out, towards the dock. Next stop, Galar.
I arrived home and was greeted by my mother's Persian came trotting over to me and rubbed its head on my leg and walked towards the bedroom door. Hesitantly I followed, knocking before walking in. Sat by my mother's bedside was a young nurse. I ran over, sitting beside my mother who weakly turned to me. "You're gonna be okay." I cried. "She will? Right?" I turned to the nurse. She looked down at my mother.
"The infection in her chest is severe." She sighed, "there isn't much more I can do." My mother Just held her hand out to me and smiled.
"Y/N? I thought you were in Alola." She spoke, hoarsely.
"I was. I had to come home and see you though didn't I? Someone has to keep the cafe open while you're getting better." I smiled through the tears. Her other hand reached out to my faithful Lucario stood behind me. She placed his paw in my hand.
"Take care of her."
"Stop. Don't you dare do this. You're getting better." I bit back. My mother just started coughing. The nurse asked me to leave the room so she could assist my mother.
When the nurse emerged she had her head hung low. "Is She-" I stopped mid question.
"I'm sorry for your loss miss." I just broke down. I couldn't help but sob. A reassuring paw was placed on my shoulder.
"I'll be okay." I shrugged through the tears. "We'll have to be. It's just you and me now Lucario."

It's been nearly a year. I've reopened my mother's cafe, renaming it in her honour.
I was just wiping my last table when I heard the bell chime, signalling a new customer. "I'll be right with you!" I called across the cafe "take a seat!" I turned around to come face to face with the last person I expected. "O-oh. Hi." I smiled. I was about to say something when another familiar face walked through the door.
"Hey, Y/N."
"Piers. Same as usual yeh?" I returned to the counter and began making his drink.
"You coming to my little show this Friday?" He smirked, "it wouldn't be the same without you and you know it."
"Well. Unlike some I work for a living. If I can close up early you know I'll make it." I smiled handing him his drink.
"Great. See you then. Thanks for this." He placed the money on the counter and walked out.
"Who was that flashy, stuck up guy?" Guzma spoke through gritted teeth.
"Piers. He's an alright guy. Makes half decent music."
"So full of himself. Typical galarian." He mumbled.
"Hey. I'm a galarian!" I bit back.
"Aight. Calm down. You got that little bit of Alola in ya. Ya ain't like these other Galarians. Besides the point. Where's that Lucario of yours at Anyway? You's two were never too far apart." He smiled.
"He's moving boxes out back. Helping me out." I shrugged. "Now. You gonna order something or is this just a stop off to say hey?"
"I Uh. Uh... coffee?"
"That a question or a request?" I laughed.
"Request, coffee Please." I turned and walked behind the counter upon which sat my Litten. "Hey. That's a-"
"Yeh. This little guy followed me here all the way from Alola I guess." I smiled scratching the feline's chin.
"I feel that." He muttered. "Guess you had to take a little bit of Alola with you."
"So. Where's the rest of the squad? Off doing your dirty work? Stealing pokemon?" I questioned, pouring his coffee into the mug.
"No more squad." He shrugged as I put the coffee down on the table. "Thanks."
"You mind?" I asked pointing at the chair across from him. He simply shrugged and I sat down. "So. What brings you here?" I smiled.
"Do I need a reason?" He mumbled. "I just wanted a vacation." He shrugged looking out the window, out over the lake, the overcast sky starting to release tiny raindrops.
"A vacation? In the middle of nowhere in Galar? If you're going to lie to me at least make it halfway convincing." I followed his gaze out the window. "You here to start a new squad or something?"
"I'm here for you alright!" He snapped.
"Huh?" I turned back to him.
"I wanted to see ya." He looked away again. "It's been a year and I thought you'd never come back."
"Look around you. I can't go back." I looked behind me as my Lucario entered the room, "it's just the two of us. We have to keep this place afloat." I shrugged.
"You Uh- you two need an employee?" Guzma asked, his head down towards the table, his eyes not leaving his coffee cup.
"Since when were you interested in getting a job?" I laughed. I stopped laughing when I noticed how he just sat there looking nervous, "Wait. You're being serious aren't you?"
"Yeh. I left Plumes in charge of those grunts and came here. I tried to get over you but I couldn't. I tried messing around with Plumes but even that didn't do the job. I had to come find you."
"I uh."
"Ya Don't Have to say anything." He shrugged, still not lifting his eyes to meet mine. I picked up a spare apron and threw it at him.
"Look at ya boss when she's talking to ya!" He looked up startled. "You'll need one of those and I have some t-shirts in the back. I assume you wouldn't know where to start in making a cup of coffee so you'll be moving stuff for me. I also can't pay you, but having just up and left Alola, I think it's safe to assume you don't have a home to go to here. So you'll be working to pay rent. Fair?"
"Wait so I'm gonna be living with you?" He asked.
"You got somewhere else to go?" I smirked. He shook his head. I sat scratching my litten behind the ears. "Ah these Alolan strays. Just keep taking them in." I laughed.
"Ya gonna let me curl up in your lap too?" Guzma smirked.
"Perhaps. Only good boys get head pats though." I smiled, standing up.
"Really what does that litten got that I don't? All it does is sit and look cute."
"That litten heats my coffee. So I suggest you get to work." I stood behind him, scratching my fingers on his scalp, making him lean back into my touch. "Well? Who's in charge now, boss?"
