"Hello Y/N" Cas spoke as he appeared behind me.
"Oh my god! Castiel. Stop doing that!"
" Apologies." He said, turning his gaze to the floor.
" Its okay, what did you want Cas?" I asked turning to face the angel behind me.
"I came to uh, check up on you. You were pretty beat up after that last case."
"Yeah, well it was my fault for not looking behind me." I winced in pain, even at the memory of the case, clawed down the back by a hell hound. "Thankfully Sam was there to help me out."
"It wasn't your fault, you couldn't have seen the hell hound anyway."
"Glasses tempered by holy fire, allows us to see them." I sighed. "I just wanted to protect them." Cas looked at me with pitty, he reached forward with his two fingers towards my forhead. I stepped back from his reach. "Don't. It was my screw up. I will heal slowly and painfully like any other human."
"What is it with you Winchesters and wanting to feel other people's pain?"
"Because it makes us forget our own pain! If I take someone else's pain and trouble, it allows me to push mine aside! It gives me something else to focus on, other than the fact that one of my brothers is a demon and we have on way of helping him because of that goddamn mark. By keeping other families together I dont have to think about the fact that all but two of mine are dead. That's why I take on other people's pain Castiel. So I don't have to feel my own." He stood there silenced.
"We are working on a way to get Dean back."
"Cas I have read every and I do mean EVERY book in this bunker and nothing has come up as to how to remove the mark of Cain. If we kill him the mark will just be reborn on someone else, and I highly doubt that we could kill Dean. None of us could. Me and Sam definitely couldn't, you don't think the same way as the other angels, where the ends always justify the means. You couldn't kill my brother."
"We cannot think like that right now. And you are side tracking. I came to talk about you. How you were, in truth, I'm worried about you."
"Cas I've told you how I feel." I went to lay down on my bed and naturally laid on my back. "Agh!" I cried rolling onto my front. Cas rushed to my side.
"Please, let me heal you." He pleaded. Again he reached forward, this time I pulled out the angel blade I keep under my pillow.
"Try it and you'll lose a finger feather brain." He instantly recoiled his hand.
"Please, put the blade down."
"Then stop trying to help me." I said, placing the blade under my pillow again.
"I can't help wanfing to help you, I have grown very close to you over the past few years." He pulled at his collar, he appeared nervous.
"Cas?"
"I have been feeling things no angel should feel, especially towards a human, we are meant to look down on you as a great creation of god. But I see you as more than just another creation."
"Uh, thanks Cas."
"This isn't going well, in honesty I have feelings for you, when I spend time with you its like everything else disappears."
"Cas? What are you saying?" Sam said standing at the door. "Are you hitting on my little sister."
"Uh, Sam I uh.." Cas stuttered.
"Come on Sammy, give the guy a break." He smiled and walked away. "It's okay to feel that Cas. But why for me? What have I done to earn the love of an angel?"
"You put the lives of people you don't know above your own."
"Don't make me into some noble hero. I'm a killer. That's what it comes down to. I was taught to fire a rifle by my 6th birthday. I never went to school. I never learnt the stuff normal people learn. They studied geometry while I was learning lore and spells. While others were studying music and the arts I was learning how to exorcise a demon. I'm not complaining but I just wish I could've experienced what it was like."
"I wouldn't want one of gods ordinary creations. You understand what the world is hiding and instead of protecting yourself you protect others." He fiddled with the hem of his trench coat. "I guess I do love you." I was shocked. An angel, confessing feelings. To me of all people. I took his hand and placed his fingers on my forehead. He looked up shocked. I just nodded and in an instant my pain was gone.
"Thanks. That really does work. Hehe." I pulled Cas into a hug. I buried my face into his neck, he slowly wrapped his arms around me too.
"I'm not used to this close contact. But loving a human. This is what I have to expect." He mumbled.
"I now have something else to fight for." I smiled. "My angel."
