"Behind me now!" I called to my class, spreading. My wings to shield them. "You want them, you go through me."
"Miss Hiratani. We can help." Tetsutetsu spoke up from behind me.
"No. You guys get back to 1-A and Thirteen. Let me deal with these thugs." I smiled, plucking a feather from my wing, hardening it into a sword like weapon. "Go! Now!" Hesitantly the class turned and ran back to the entrance.
I couldn't stop one villain from reaching one of my students. Shinsou. Before my eyes he began to regress in age until he was a baby. I threw a dagger length feather at the villain, pinning his hand to the ground. I swooped down to pick up my, now infant student. I landed at the entrance and stood next to Aizawa. "What the-" he stopped mid question when he saw the child in my arms.
"Shinsou. One of the villains got to him." I sighed, "I have no idea how long this will last."
"I've heard of this guy, it can last anywhere up to a month, depending how far back the victim goes." He shrugged.
"I'll look after him then." I stated, walking to the exit, towards my other students. "Class Is dismissed, everyone go home. If you're injured go to recovery girl but please get to your homes safely." They all bowed and made their way off.
I wrapped up the purple haired infant in a blanket from the teachers lounge, carrying him home. "You know Shinsou, you were an adorable baby." I smiled, "I bet anything your mother has loads of pictures of you. I know I would." I placed him on my bed, surrounding him with pillows so he couldn't roll over and crawl away, "I'd love kids, Sho on the other hand... I don't know. I get that his hero job is risky, I know, it's my job too. Perhaps this may sway him. You may help me out here so you better be cute and show him what he's missing out on." I smiled, laying next to him my index finger being clutched in his small hand.
I woke up to a baby's laughter. I looked to my side and Shinsou was no where to be seen. I walked into the lounge to find Shōta sat with Shinsou wrapped in his arms. My infant student had a fistful of Shōta's hair, pulling on it and giggling at the resulting facial expression. What I did notice was that Shōta wore a slight smile the whole time. It was soft and pure, and the one thing I did know was that I wanted to see that smile more. "Well don't you two look happy." I spoke, making my presence known.
"Well... he's having a good time." Shōta winced, as Shinsou pulled hard on the lock of hair in his hand.
"But you do look adorable though." I smiled, sitting next to him. "All fatherly."
"I know what you're thinking, and stop." He spoke flatly, refusing to look up at me, "we're heroes, you'd just be putting an innocent child in danger. Villains come for us regularly anyway, can you imagine what they'd do if they knew we had a child. Something we would die to protect, a weakness they could exploit."
"I know but we're not getting younger Sho." I sighed, "you don't ever want kids?" I looked away, almost afraid of the answer he'd give me.
"I do. I'm just-"
"-afraid?" I added. "I am too, but this whole thing has just made me think about how much I'd love a kid." I took Shinsou and sat him on my lap, handing him one of my feathers to play with, "Anyway if a villain wants to exploit one of your weaknesses I'm here. Did you give up on our relationship? No. In this society every choice we make can be used against us in some way. We just have to make the most of our life."
"You make a compelling argument." He sighed.
"And just think, as adorable as you are Shinsou." I smiled at my infant student "imagine how beautiful our child would be." I grinned, turning to Shōta.
"Yes. Yes. No need to oversell your point." He got up to walk to his office evidently done with the conversation.
"And you need to keep trying until you get it right. Obviously." I shrugged, returning my attention to Shinsou.
"Then let's hope it doesn't happen right away." He mumbled before walking away.
It was about a week or so until Shinsou turned back to his actual age. It wasn't the best timing though. I'd laid him down for a nap in the spare room and went to see Shōta in our room. I told him Shinsou was out for the count, one thing lead to another then BAM the door opens and there's my student wrapped in a blanket with the most mortified look on his face. He quickly excused himself, slamming the door shut behind him. "I think we just scarred the poor boy for life." I laughed.
"Oh well." He chuckled deep in his throat, continuing his assault on the side of my neck. "So. Where were we?"
Later I found a note on the coffee table in the lounge. It was one from Shinsou thanking us for taking care of him, and that he'd find his own way home. "Good to know he's okay." I sighed, as a pair of arms embraced me from behind. "You're awfully clingy today. Not that I'm complaining." I turned around in his grasp. "What? You were crushing my wings." I smiled. "Anyway. I much prefer this." I spoke, gently caressing his cheek. "You sir, you need a shave." I laughed, pushing him back.
"Didn't bother you earlier." He argued.
"This Is Now." I grinned, grabbing my coat. "I have patrols and class to prep for. I'll be back in a few hours." I stood up on my tip toes, giving my lover a brief kiss. "Now you better be ready by the time I get home." I winked, walking towards the door.
