I ran across the road to my neighbour's house. "Izuku!" I screamed, pounding my fist on the door, "Izuku!" I almost fell through the door when it was opened. Once I regained my balance I saw his mother had opened the door. "Mrs Midoriya," I bowed, "is Izuku in?" She simply smiled.
"In his room. Come on in." I pulled off my shoes and ran into Izuku's room.
"I did it!" I exclaimed. He turned to face me and smiled clutching his own envelope.
"So did I." He spoke with tears filling his eyes.
"We're going to U.A." We both pulled each other into a tight hug. "We're going to be heroes."
A week later I had packed everything I needed and made my way to U.A. We all dropped our stuff at the dormitories and I decided to have a look around. I was on the floor above Izuku. The rooms all had names on the doors. A few I recognised. Katsuki Bakugo, Midoriya and I knew him as kids. Shoto Todoroki, a famous hero family. Tenya Iida, another well known hero family. Then there's me. I come from a small quirkless family. I'm the only one to have a quirk. I'll be a nobody to the likes of these people.
Class started the next day and I decided to stick with Midoriya and the girl he met at the entrance exam whom I know now as Uraraka. I also took a liking to a girl named Tsuyu. I sat in the middle of the class next to Izuku and Tsuyu. "Hey. You, with the wings." I turned around to see a guy with white and red hair. "Wouldn't mind sitting in the back would you? I can't see anything." I shrugged and got up.
"Sure." I sighed, standing up and moving to the back. "Story of my life." I mumbled, i sat with my head down, little did I know someone was watching me.
After a day at U.A I took the quick way home, taking off and flying in through my open dorm window. I opened up my phone and video called my mum. "Hey, hows U.A?" She asked a massive smile on her face.
"Great. Met some cool people. I had to cut my uniform though." I propped up my phone and turned around showing my wings through the uniform.
"Looks good."
"There are also some huge hero families here. A Todoroki and an Iida. How cool? Oh and Katsuki made it in too."
"I had no doubts over Katsuki, or you." She smiled.
"I should go. Just wanted to let you know I'm Okay. I have some homework to get done." She Just nodded and we said our goodbyes.
I completed my homework with little effort. English was always a subject I was good at. I decided to have a look in the communal area and found Uraraka talking to a tall guy with navy hair and glasses. It would be good to get to know new people we have some paired and team training to do in a few days and I want to pick someone with whom my quirk would work well. I sat down in an opposing arm chair struggling to get both myself and my wings comfy. "You Okay y/n?" Uraraka asked.
"I will be once I get a bean bag, chairs with hard backs will never be for me." I ran upstairs to get my bean bag from my room. Once sat in it I smiled. "Much better."
"I don't believe we've properly met." The blue haired guy spoke, gaining my attention. "I'm Tenya Iida." He offered me his hand to shake. I gently took it.
"Y/n." I smiled, "a privilege to meet a member of such a famed hero family."
"Why thank you." He smiled, "the privilege is all mine however, I saw you during the entrance exam and might I say that your quirk is really something."
"Thanks." I blushed. "You think I could train with you tomorrow? I want to get a head start on planning for the team game on Friday."
"Sure. I always strive to better myself." He smiled.
"Great. I should get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."
After the days classes I went to the gymnasium and started warming up. I was just doing some stretches when Tenya walked in. "Iida. Thank you again for joining me!" I jumped up and into a bow. Like me, he wore his gym suit but had the trousers rolled up to his knees.
"Calling me Tenya is Fine and I am glad to train with you." He turned to do his own stretching routine, that's when I saw it. His quirk. The famed Iida Family engine quirk. "So. I assumed you had an idea when you asked to train with me." He questioned.
"Yes. You see my quirk allows me to harden my feathers making them razor sharp and rigid, if I wish I can do so to my entire wings but then I cannot fly as my wings cannot move. I had the idea that if I held onto you and you gave me enough speed we could glide across any distance that may be required to reach enemy territory. Also no one could attack us from the sides due to the hardness and sharpness of my wings we'd be virtually unstoppable." I explained. He stood thinking for a moment.
"I like it. Let's try it."
We spent hours trying this technique but kept crashing. We were hitting the same problem, my inability to hold his weight as I'd be on his back but as soon as we were airborne I would have to then carry him. "Maybe this won't work." I sighed, rubbing the back of my head. "Sorry for wasting your time."
"I reckon you're onto something, but we just need to think over the logistics of it." He smiled. "I have an idea but this will make it more of an offensive technique." He stood in front of me. "Wrap your arms and legs around me, that way I'm carrying you." He blushed slightly, "then wrap your wings around us, harden them and I'll do the rest." I did as he asked. I blushed at the closeness of the situation. I wrapped my wings around us and hardened them. I couldn't see anything but I trusted Iida.
He started running then he jumped I looked down and could see he crossed his legs, he then used his recipro burst causing us to spin as his engines were not directly aligned. It was now that I realised that this would be a perfect offensive technique. Both of us were completely shielded and the spin coupled with my hardened wings would make us into a fast, heavy, hard drill basically.
We hit the wall and buried about 5 foot into it. I slowly unhardened my wings and sat up. "That was amazing!" I laughed. "You're a genius, Iida."
"Thank you." He smiled. As i stood up a large amount of feathers fell from my wings he looked at me in shock, "have I injured you?" He questioned. I looked at the ground.
"Oh, no. That happens. It's one of the prices i pay for hardening my entire wings. A large portion of feathers shed to make room for fresh ones. I now couldn't get airborne if I tried. It takes about 3 to 5 minutes to reach full plumage again. In that time I'm a sitting duck. My only saving grace is that any I pick up from the ground will instantly harden and I can use them in close combat while I wait." I shrugged.
We continued practicing our new technique until Aizawa sensei walked in. "You two need to give it a rest now. Overexert yourself now and you'll be of no use to anyone."
"It's probably best... we retire for the night." I panted. "You Don't Look too great either." I pointed at the black smoke billowing from his calves that for some reason smelt like oranges.
"Yeh.. I'll walk you back to your dorm." He smiled. Standing upright.
"Thanks."

A few months later I was sat at my desk in class, rewriting my notes when a box was placed in front of me. I looked around and no one was there just a faint orange scent in the air, one I'd grown accustomed to recently. Inside the box was a small necklace with a little blue gem on it. It reminds me of Iida's eyes. Inside was a letter detailing the last few months and how they've made him feel. "I know you're still there Tenya." I smiled looking at the classroom door. He sheepishly stepped in, walking over to me. "Thank you for this. You didn't have to." I blushed. "I just wanted you to know. How you said you felt.."
"I know it was bold of me to assume you felt anything of the sort for me." He blurted out, "I apologise if this makes you in any way uncomfortable around me."
"Tenya. Let me finish." I laughed. "I wanted to say I feel the same."
"You do?" He looked up, hope shining in his eyes.
"Yeh." I smiled. "So. You want to go to that ramen restaurant after school? I hear it's great."
"Sure."
"It's a date."
