"Hey. Pick on someone your own size!" I shouted at a tall boy picking on a smaller blond boy.
"What are you gonna do about it?" He laughed and went to grab my shirt. I took his wrist and threw him to the ground. I kept him pinned with his hand behind his back.
"Drop the book." I demanded. I guess he took it from the blonde one. He did as I asked. "Now apologise to him. Or how do you fancy a few extra joints in your arm?" He apologised and I let him go. "I come to the surface for one day and I end up helping some kid." I mutter to myself as I brush the dirt from my clothes.
"Uh. Thanks for helping Armin." Another boy said walking over to me.
"Whatever." Mumbled walking past him my stolen 3DM gear hitting him in the side.
"Woah. How do you have 3DM gear?!" His green eyes shone as he questioned me. How are these people up here so full of hope?
"I acquired it from an ex soldier." I went to walk away but he grabbed my wrist.
"Teach me."
"Walk away kid." I pulled my pocket knife out on him. "I'm not someone you should mix with. I come from the underground community. I'm here to do a job. I had time and your pitiful friend there looked too helpless to ignore. Back off and get out of my way." I took off running then used my 3DM gear to propel myself to my destination.
-5 years later-
"Stop! That's an order." A scout on 3DM gear shouted chasing after me. I had stolen some food for a sick friend and this is what I get for it. He was good but I was better.
"I think I lost him." I breathed as I leaned against a wall. I saw more fly past above me.
"Don't move." I heard the voice of the scout as a blade was pressed to my throat.
"All this for a loaf of bread? Jeez. Shouldn't you be off feeding yourselves to the Titans?" I spat at him. I looked at him as he pressed me harder against the wall. "You. You're the friend of that kid a few years back."
"You're that girl. The one with the 3DM gear. You're a thief?"
"Of course I am. How else do you think I got this gear? Asked a soldier nicely? I don't think so. Now if you don't mind removing that blade from my throat it's not at all comfortable." He reluctantly lowered his blade. "So. How'd a kid like you join the scouts?" I asked sitting on the ground leaning against the wall.
"I want to kill all the Titans. I want to see the outside world."
"The outside world huh? That I can help you with. You see that line in the ground? That marks the boundary of wall Maria. Step over that and you're outside the walls. I've been tunnelling further and further out doing my work as a criminal to pay my way to the surface to keep myself supplied for my tunnels."
"Show me these tunnels." His eyes widened.
"Hold up there scout. You're not going in them. Well this chat has been lovely and all but I should be on my way." I spoke casually as I brushed past him and discreetly took one of his blades attaching it to one of the handles of my 3DM gear.
"No. You are under-" I held the blade up to his throat.
"-I don't think I am. Now. You're gonna let me go and never speak of me again. Got it scout." With that I took off running into the shadows.

Eren's POV.

"Please Captain, you know the underground very well according to Erwin." I begged.
"What? Erwin told you that?"
"Yeh. He was all like 'go talk to Levi he knows more about that thatn I do' so I came to you sir. I have to find this girl."
"And why is she so important?" He asked sitting in his chair.
"I don't know, she helped out Armin a few years ago, and shes great on 3DM gear and I mean really great. She'd be super useful in the military."
"Fine Jeager." He rose from his seat, "anyfhing you see or hear down there about me never gets repeated ever. Or else I'll wash my hands of you and hand you over to Hange."
"Yes sir."

Readers POV

I only just make it out in time as my tunnels collapse. I fall to the floor, "now what? I had 5km of tunnels dug, extending beyond the walls. I wouldve gotten past the majority of the titans and id have been free soon enough." I cried as my last 5 years had all just been for nothing.
"So you still think you can dig your way out of hell." A familiar deep voice spoke from behind me.
"Levi!!" I pulled out my knife, jumping up and lunging at him. He caught my wrist stopping my from hurting him. "You promised you'd come back! One job Levi! That's all you said and you left me! I got word that everyone died. Farlan, Isabel. The. I hear you're now Captain Levi of the Survey Corps. Abandoned by my own brother!!"
