I straightened my jacket, looking at myself in the mirror. I guess I look okay. "Ugh. It doesn't matter how I look he won't care." I sighed.
"Who's not gonna care?" My roommate questioned sitting on her bed.
"Just a guy at my night school." I shrugged. I refer to the cram school as night school. She saw me leaving after school at True Cross so I came up with the excuse that I was taking voluntary extra classes. The only thing is, like Yukio, I'm not taking classes I'm teaching them.
"You could lose the long coat for a start. You're covering up your one of your best assets. Your body." She smiled pulling at my coat.
"It's part of my uniform." I whined. "I need it." I turned away, "Besides. He's not that kinda guy. I don't think he is attracted to anyone physically. That or he's got an extreme poker face." I checked the clock on the wall. "Crap I'm gonna be late!" I ran out the door and turned a corner, checking around I quickly pulled out my keys and unlocked the door to the cram school. "Finally. Somewhere I can be at peace." I sighed, however that was short lived. I heard two voices screaming at each other down the hall. Voices I'd known since childhood. I hadn't seen them since we were about seven. As of yet I hadn't taught a class I'd only been setting up. Today was my first class. I followed the voices down the hall to see Rin and Yukio fighting as always.
"Shut up four eyes!" Rin yelled reaching for his sword, "you think you're mister big shot now?! Just because you're a nerdy mole face!" He was about to draw the sword when I ran over, pulling the Kopesh from my belt and placing it around his neck from behind.
"Think about what you're doing Okumura." I whispered, "look around you. You draw that sword and you let them all know what you are."
"And you are?" He Bit back.
"You honestly don't recognise me. Rin I'm hurt." I laughed standing in front of him, strapping my kopesh back to my hip. He blinked slowly for a moment squinting at me.
"Y/N?!" He smiled.
"Yes. Well actually now it's miss L/N. Exorcist middle first class." I grinned. "Finished my exams a few months after your brother. I'm going to be your teacher."
"Hey Y/N." A voice spoke behind me. "I'm glad you made it here."
"Yukio!" I wrapped my arms around him in a hug. "It's great to see you. It's been too long! Hey. You've gotten taller!" I pointed out.
"Is there something I should know about you two?" Rin questioned. Yukio and I looked at each other and then his brother.
"Ha. Us? No." We both answered in unison, laughing.
"Fine." He Just turned and left, walking towards the classroom.
"It really is great to see you again Yuki. I've got a class to teach, you're welcome to sit in if you wish." I smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder, admiring his facial features. He's grown up well.
As I walked into class I introduced myself. "Good afternoon. I'm y/n l/n. Exorcist middle first class. I am here to teach your ancient religion and pick up magical circles from miss Kirigakure so she has more time to focus on her primary area of expertise, swordsmanship." I was about to finish when my familiar jumped up onto the desk. "Oh. And this is Anukis."
"No way. You have a cat sidhe too?" Rin smiled, pointing at Kuro who was sat on his head.
"Yes. It was Father Fujimoto Who inspired me to form a contract with a cat sidhe. Mine is an Egyptian variation so will not grow the split tail like yours. Also it is good to see you again Kuro." I grinned, addressing the cat who also jumped up on my desk. "You will find I specialise in ancient religions, primarily Egyptian. My exorcist training will be a little different. So... how's everyone with reading heiroglyphics?" I smiled only to be met with a series of groans.
I had set some simple translation work for the students and sat playing with Anukis until Rin spoke up. "Miss l/n. What's your meister?"
"I am a knight, doctor and tamer." I replied.
"Woah, you're better than Yukio!" He laughed to which he earned a whack around the back of the head with the book in Yukio's hand.
"No. Much like miss Moriyama and miss Kamiki, I was naturally born with the skill of calling demons to do my bidding." I pulled out my summoning papers "I call upon thee, minions of the god Anpu, come to me iwiw!" From the circles came two black Jackals. "Annipe and Odion."
"They're not demons." Konekomuru pointed out.
"You're correct." Yukio stood next to me. "Y/n is such an advanced exorcist she has tamed minions of the ancient gods as opposed to those of demons. This is why I have asked her to train with you. Her skill is beyond her rank and she's one of the only ones known to have actual Devine assistance."
"Thanks but there's no need to bug me up like that. The ancient gods get forgotten. They held a lot of the world in balance for so long, with time and dedication I was able to revive a little power to them, as a reward the lord of the dead permit me to use some of his minions." I shrugged as the bell went. "Well. That's it for today. I want a full translation of the Rosetta Stone on my desk tomorrow and no, you can't read the Latin section to cheat. Only the glyphs." I smiled. As everyone filed out I noticed Yukio still stood at my side. "Can I help you Mr Okumura, sir?" I smirked. I noticed his cheeks flush slightly. Got him. "Well if you've got nothing to say I will be going home." I waved walking to the door, he stepped in front of me closing the door.
"In your last letter, do you remember what you said?" He spoke darkly. I backed up, sitting on the edge of the desk.
"Oh. Something about you being a grown up now, a congrats on the new job, my condolences on your father's passing." I smirked.
"And?"
"Oh. And some little thing about you, me and a desk. I think it was along those lines anyway." I smiled, pulling him down by his tie, "You and I both know that there's a little bit of demon in you. That little spark of desire within you. I wonder if I can bring it out." I whispered into his ear. I pulled him closer again. "Go on then. Take what you want." He crashes his lips to mine in a passionate kiss. No one else knew of this side to Yukio, no one but me. We'd developed a full relationship since we were young. When I left Japan to finish my studies in Cairo we would write to each other. It started as innocent letters between children, then it grew into heartfelt confessions of dreams and ambitions between teenagers, then into regular correspondents between lovers. Finally I was here, with him, fulfilling both of our desires.
An hour later we both stuck our heads out of the classroom, checking the coast was clear. We stepped out and into the hallway. "That was the most fun I've had in ages." I smiled, fishing my keys from my pocket, "dinner tomorrow night? I'll buy." I smiled placing my key into the lock. I quickly leant forwards placing a light kiss on his lips.
"I'd love to, but you have to let me pay." He argued.
"I've told you before. You have Rin to look after and you only get so much per month. I think I can pay for dinner one night." I grinned, opening the door to my room. "Goodnight Yukio. See you tomorrow." I spoke, stepping through, only to see my roommate looking at me shocked.
"Were you just talking to Yukio Okumura?!" She gawked, hugging her pillow to her chest.
"Yeh. He goes to night school with me. I forgot he's in you class in True Cross Academy too." I shrugged, taking off my exorcist uniform, getting into my pyjamas. I turned round to see my roommate looking taken aback. "What?" I looked around, "did I put my top on inside out again?" I sighed. She just got up and pulled my shorts down an inch to reveal fingertip sized bruises on my hips. "Ah. That." I sighed.
"Yukio?" She questioned looking sad.
"Y-yeh."
"Of course he'd go for a perfect girl like you. Pretty, smart, talented. You've got it all."
"No no. We've known each other since we were kids. The relationship just sorta... happened." I blushed. Her whole demeanour changed, she seemed satisfied that I wasn't just another girl trying to sleep with the guy and that we'd known each other for years. She pulled me over to her bed.
"Ok. Tell me everything!" She grinned. Easier said than done my friend.
