Christmas, time to spend with your family and loved ones. For me, only my family. I come from a muggle family who always, and I mean always get together at Christmas. Just because I'm a witch doesn't mean I get out of it now. I wanted to spend Christmas with my boyfriend and his family but I had to stay at home with my parents and aunts and uncles. I have a huge family yet I'm the only one that goes to, or has been to Hogwarts. Yeh my family think it's amazing that I have this gift but are sceptical because they believe I'll leave and spend my entire life in the wizarding world.
Christmas Eve and we're getting everything ready for tomorrow, setting the table ahead of time. "Y/N" mum asked from the other side of the table, "could you get the napkin rings from the lounge please?" I nodded and pulled out my wand.
"Accio napkin rings." The Box came flying into the room and I quickly caught it. "Here you go." I smiled, handing the box to her. Just as we had set up I heard a big thump against the kitchen window. I opened it to see Errol, the Weasley's owl laying on the patio. "Stupid bird. The door was open." I took the envelope from him, taking the owl inside until he sat up on the counter. I looked at the envelope and instantly recognised the terrible handwriting. I was evidently smiling like a maniac when mum walked back in.
"Letter from someone special?" She asked.
"Yeah." I hadn't really told her much about Fred but she knew I was seeing someone at school. "I didn't expect him to write now, I'm seeing him shortly after Christmas." I shrugged, cautiously opening the envelope. You never know what could happen knowing those boys. Thankfully it wasn't booby trapped this time. I pulled out the letter and out fell some pictures. I went to retrieve them but mum was faster. The gazed at the moving pictures. I read the letter, it stated that Fred had paid a younger student Colin Creevey to follow us around and take pictures of us doing cute stuff. It was mainly when we went into Hogsmede, both of us wrapped up in our house coloured scarves and hats. Mum flicked through them smiling.
"He seems sweet. You two look really happy." She continued until she saw a picture of us both playing Quidditch, flying next to each other at speed. Me trying to keep him from doing his job as a beater. I manage to nudge him to one side before hitting the bludger myself. Mum looked up at me. "What's this?"
"It's called Quidditch. I didn't tell you I'm on the team because you'd worry. It's not exactly a safe game." I shrugged. The last pictures she found were two of us at the Yule ball. One, just a standard photo, the two of us just standing for a picture. The other was one I'd never seen, the two of us dancing, evidently one of the last dances of the evening as it was slow, I had my head rested on his chest as we just stood swaying. I could see mum almost tearing up.
"Would I be able to get a copy of these? They're beautiful." She smiled.
"Of course. I'll get Fred to get another set." I smiled finishing the adorable letter. 'P.S. remember to leave your fire unlit, wouldn't want anyone getting burnt coming in through the chimney.
See you soon, Fred." Ok that last bit was weird. Oh well.
As always we went to bed early as a lot of my family arrive early in the morning so sleep is needed especially for the number of cousins coming that now demand magic every time they see me.
In the morning we woke up and sat in the lounge. We all gave each other gifts, I found some nice cuff links for my dad, shaped as little Quidditch snitches. Mum was harder to buy for but I found a really good book in flourish and blotts. It was a book on many aspects of wizarding life, she had said that she wanted to know more.
We were just sat talking when green flames suddenly appeared in our fireplace, my parents jumped back, I however knew that it was someone using floo powder. When the flames subsided out stepped a person I knew all too well. "Fred!" I jumped up, instantly wrapping my arms around the tall Weasley twin.
"Hey. Told you I'd see you soon." He grinned, wrapping his arms around my waist. "You have no idea how nice I had to be to dad to connect your house to the floo network." He laughed and looked up to see my parents staring. "Oh. Sorry. Random wizard appears in fireplace, must be a bit strange. Fred Weasley." He offered his hand to my father who shook it cautiously, as did my mother.
"Can he stay?" I asked standing next to him.
"I guess we don't have much choice." Mum smiled. "Besides I would love to know more about you young man." She turned to Fred. I pulled him down and whispered in his ear.
"Floo powder isn't typically how one would arrive for a 'meet the parents' if anything the car would've been better."
"Dad banned me and George from using the car."
"Never stopped you before." I laughed nudging him.
"Oh. And mum wanted me to give you this." He handed me a small wrapped present, I could feel what it was.
"Is this an infamous Weasley Christmas jumper?" I asked with a huge smile, opening to see a hand knitted jumper with my first initial on the front. "Tell Molly it's amazing!" I smiled. Just as Fred and I had settled into a comfortable position together on the sofa there was a knock at the door. "Brace yourself." I smirked turning to Fred.
"What for?" I hadn't the chance to answer as a pair of 5 year old children both came running in and leapt onto me and Fred.
"Hey you two. How have you been?" I asked, I turned to Fred who just smiled at me.
"Twins?" He smirked.
"Yup. How do you think I can tell you and George apart. Practice."
"Magic. Now!" The pair demanded. I just laughed, sitting up. I pulled out my wand and pointed it at one of the twins.
"Levicorpus." The small child let out shrill laughter as they hung upside down in the air. I set him down on the opposing sofa and did the same to the other boy. They ran back over to me.  "Do magic on him!" One shouted, still laughing pointing at Fred.
"Oh she's already got a spell on me." He smirked, thinking he was so smooth.
"So cheesy." I sighed, turning my wand on him. "Rictusempra." I smiled. He burst out laughing, holding his side and swatting away with his other hand like he were being tickled. The spell quickly wore off and Fred drew his wand.
"Two can play that game." I looked at him then outside, a massive smile plastered on my face.
"Table jousting?" I grinned. He nodded and we ran outside, followed by the young boys and a few other cousins that had arrived. We had two old garden tables we had been meaning to get rid of so why not just destroy them.
We decided it was a tie in the end. Neither table was particularly sturdy so they both broke. The whole day was so much fun. Chatting with the family, spending time with Fred, playing with my cousins. A very typical muggle Christmas.
By the end of the day Fred and I were curled up on a sofa, he'd drifted off to sleep and one of my cousins came to sit with us. She was a small girl about 7 years of age, a proper little girly girl, she was adorable. "I like him." She stated. "Can he visit more?" She smiled. I was almost taken aback.
"Of course." I smiled, "He should be visiting more if today is anything to go by." I spoke, not taking my eyes off him as he slept.
"You look really happy."
"I am." I sighed, gently playing with his hair. "Freddie. You gotta wake up. Day's not over yet." I smiled, shaking his shoulder.
"Five more minutes." He mumbled.
"What? Fred Weasley can't take a day hanging out with a muggle family?"
"I never said that. But I've looked after dragons less lively than these kids." He groaned, sitting up and wrapping his arms around me. He rested his chin atop my head and pulled something from a bag in which he brought the presents. He presented what appeared to be a hip flask. "Fire whiskey? Stole some of dad's." He asked, offering me the flask.
"You know it's not my favourite drink. I've got more of a sweet tooth." I smiled, looking up at him.
"How did I know you'd say that." Out of the bag he produced a big flask of butterbeer.
"Now, that's more like it." I grinned taking the drink from him, "anyway where'd you learn and undetectable extension charm? There's no way that bag would hold all this."
"Got Granger to teach me." He smiled smugly that he could do a charm I couldn't.
"Would you consider teaching me?" I asked.
"For the right price." He smirked, pulling me closer.
"Such as?"
"You're a smart girl. You figure it out." I pulled him by his jumper pressing his lips to mine. He kissed back almost immediately. Fred Weasley is many things but a bad kisser isn't one of them.
"Eww!" I heard two voices shout in unison. "Y/N! That's gross!" The two boys covered their eyes. I turned to Fred and pushed him back by his chest.
"Yeh Fred. That's gross." I laughed, laying on him ensuring he was highly uncomfortable. "You'll be asked to stay in the annex," I whispered, "I'll be down around midnight, then I may be nice enough to give you a gift Weasley." I smirked as all the kids jumped on top of us.
"Bundle!" One shouted triggering everyone to attempt to crush Fred and I.
Well. At least I know he can handle a very muggle Christmas. What a day we've had, and what a night to enjoy. This is and will continue to be the best Christmas so far.
