I woke up the next morning not feeling very rested, and I sat up slowly. I looked over at a sleeping Lapis who still looked just as exhausted as last night. I just wanted to hug her tightly and apologize a thousand times for having her go out of her way to rescue me from a floating tire. Her light snores still sounded through the tent and her blue hair was ruffled. All of a sudden the zipper to the front of the tent zoomed down and I shielded my eyes from the abrupt sunlight. "RISE AND SHINE DUDES!!! WE GOT A BIG DAY AHEAD OF US!!!" Amethyst shouted, sticking her head into the tent. I groaned and shook my head. "I lost my vision for a second..." I grumbled.

"Come on Peri, no time for complaining! Get up get up! Lapis you too!!" she shouted. Lapis groaned and turned over, back facing us. "Five more minutes." she muttered. "What're you doing up this early? It's not like you." I asked Amethyst, raising an eyebrow. "Pearl told me if I found any weird small creature, I could keep it. So I'm hoping to capture a skinwalker today!!" Amethyst explained excitedly. I rolled my eyes in reply. "You do realize those things are like twice your size?" I corrected her. "And they don't exist." Pearl added from the outside.

Amethyst grabbed my two arms and dragged me out of the tent against my will. "GYAGHH!! DUH-HEY!!" I growled as she hauled me. "There ya go. Mornin' Per-bear." Amethyst said, putting her hands on her hips triumphantly. I remained laying on the ground like a stubborn child. Lapis soon climbed out of the tent and her eyes were still half-closed. She looked like a zombie as she trudged over to Amethyst and looked down at her. "Why am I up at 7AM." she asked in a raspy voice. "CREATURES!!!!" Amethyst yelled in reply as Lapis flinched.

The bluenette rubbed her tired eyes, and yawned, stretching her arms up. "Oh fuck me..." she grumbled, walking over to her bag and getting a fresh set of clothes.

. . . .

We walked down many different paths through trees and such, and I felt like we were gonna get lost, but Pearl was really good with directions. There wasn't much that caught my eye, and I just had to hear Squari's blabbering about how she knew so much about nature. I hadn't noticed I was acting so stubborn until Lapis walked up to me. "Hey are you okay?" she asked, tilting her head. Fuck she's gonna see through my iNsEcURiTy nO--"I'm fine." I deadpanned, keeping my eyes on the ground. I could feel her eyes on me for a moment, then she turned her head away.

I looked over at her, then away again, feeling awkward tension build. "Hey guys, you wanna go swimming in the lake?" Amethyst asked, pointing to the lake up ahead. "No way." I replied. "Don't worry, Peridot. It's not skinny dipping this time, and it's day time, so we could see better to make sure no tires are out to get you." Amethyst teased, snickering. I groaned and rolled my eyes, feeling my cheeks heat up. "I'll go for a swim. It'll wake me up." Lapis said, setting her bag down. "So are we all going this time?" Squari asked. Everyone agreed, so we all started taking turns changing into our bathing suits in a secluded spot.

I wore my same dark green bathing suit as last time and Lapis wore her same blue bikini huehehueheheheuehe. Squari had a black bikini on and I glared at her. Get away. Everyone got into the lake, and Lapis and I stepped in last. I shivered as the ice cold water touched my skin, causing goosebumps to shoot up and down my body. I wrapped my arms around myself and whimpered. "Stars, it's freezing in here." "You could never used to it, can you, Peri..." Squari chuckled, shaking her head. SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU SERPENT.

Amethyst splashed Pearl, and the thin girl screeched in terror. "AMETHYST, IT'S IN MY EYES!!!" she shouted, and Amethyst just laughed. Pearl then splashed Amethyst back, and it soon turned into a water fight that I was definitely not going to be apart of. So I quickly swam backwards away from the couple, until I backed into Garnet by accident. I yelped, and turned around quickly to give her an apologetic look. "S-sorry." I said. Garnet just stared at me and I couldn't read her expression through her sunglasses. "Watch it, Peri, you don't wanna get spooked again! Also, have you seen Lapis anywhere?" Squari asked from the distance.

Wait...where did Lapis go? I looked around, but she was nowhere to be found. I began to swim around, not going too far in so I wouldn't get too deep. "Lapis!!" I called, but got nothing in response. I then saw a jumble of bushes with flowers spreading from them, and a water way that went in through between them. I swam over to the spot and gently pushed the bushes out of the way to peek through. "La--oh" I immediately shut up as I spotted Lapis. Her back was facing me, and she was just standing there peacefully in the water, slicking her hair back.

Oh my stars. Oh fuck. She was slightly turned to the side, but she couldn't spot me looking at her. She looks so beautiful. I watched my back to make sure Squari wasn't going to butt in and steal this moment. "Hey Peridot." Lapis's voice startled me. I jumped and stuttered. "O-oh hey Lapis! I uh, didn't know you knew I was here... wait that sounded weird. I, uhm, didn't just-I wasn't watching. Wait not that you'd think I was watching but uh-" I was interrupted by the sound of Lapis snort laughing, and I felt my face heat up. "Still on the shallow side, I see?" she asked, looking over at me. I blushed and looked down in embarrassment.

"Hehe, it's okay. How 'bout I help you?" I looked up at her. "H-huh? What do you mean?" I asked. "Just trust me." she said, with a lazy smile on her face. She held her hands out to me, and I looked at them for a moment. I then placed my hands in them,  feeling my whole body tremble. Omg she's touching me. Her thumbs rested over the back of my hands and she started slowly backing up into the deeper part. I let out a whimper, and looked over her shoulder, getting nervous. "Nah ah ah, eyes on me." Lapis said. I looked back at her, and she maintained eye contact with me, probably causing my whole face to flush.

I wanted to hide my blush so badly, but I knew I couldn't let go of Lapis's hands. I then started to relax as those two blue pools of hers started getting deeper and I got more lost in them. I felt myself fall in love more by the second, and I wanted to die and squeal in gay happiness at the same time. "You did it." Lapis suddenly said, and I snapped out of it. "H-huh?" I looked around, and noticed I wasn't touching the bottom with my feet anymore. "I... I did it!" I kept paddling my feet to make sure I stayed afloat. "That wasn't so hard, now was it?" she asked, giving me a cute smile.

I started laughing victoriously, feeling empowered. Lapis then started backing up back toward the spot we were previously in, and soon enough, we arrived back there. "Wasn't that great?" Lapis asked. "That was amazing! I made it all the way out there!!" I shouted excitedly. "Haha, I'm glad you liked it. I love swimming..." Lapis replied, looking out into the breeze. I then noticed this peaceful setting, and felt something. "Hey Lapis?" I looked up at her, feeling another blush come on.

She hummed in response, slowly turning her gaze to me. "I um... I have a question." I said, and Lapis looked at me intently. "HEY GUYS WHATCHA DOIN' BACK HERE?!" Squari asked loudly, barging into the bushes startling both Lapis and I. My fear quickly turned into anger, and I growled loudly, balling my fists. "Every fucking time." I hissed, storming through the water back to the shore. "Peridot, wait!" I heard Lapis's voice call from behind me.

I then started running and eventually stepped out of the water and continued running. "Fuck Squari. Fuck this. Ya know what, take Lapis for all I care, it'll happen eventually." I grumbled, continuing to run back to the campfire. Rage seared through my body, and there was no stopping it. I was pissed. I was done. I kicked a few rocks and snatched a towel from my bag. I roughly dried my hair, and started pat drying my body, muttering curses under my breath.

Third-Person POV:

Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet had just witnessed Peridot run out of the water angrily. "Uh...what just happened?" Amethyst asked.
