"WHOAAA HOHOHO!!!" Amethyst's voice suddenly boomed, startling both of us. Pearl was standing beside Amethyst with a small smile on her face. Garnet was behind back at the camp site still, while I looked over and noticed Squari. She had an angry glare on her face, and I felt like I finally won. I finally had something of my own for once... it felt satisfying. I grinned at her, leaning on my hand. Lapis turned away quickly and stood up, shoving her hands in her pockets.
I couldn't help but fall deeper in love with her, and admire every inch of her. The adorable blush on her face, the way her lips pursed in embarrassment, her beautiful blue eyes staring down at the ground, her ocean blue hair slightly ruffled, the very loose white tank top she was wearing, revealing her back sports bra under, exposed from the sides, her dark blue jeans short shorts that revealed her long tan legs... her bare feet digging into the ground beneath her. I caught myself staring too long, completely forgetting the others' existence.
"Ugh, I'm ready to go home." Squari muttered, walking away. "What did I miss?" Garnet asked, crossing her arms and walking up to us. Amethyst just giggled and looked over at Pearl with squinty eyes. Pearl scoffed and slightly smiled. "Yeah uhm, I'm exhausted...we should head back..." Lapis said, putting one arm over the other. Yeah so we could finish our make out session back at the dorm HAAAAHHHH cough- "You guys agree?" Pearl asked, looking at everyone. We all agreed, and started heading back to the camp site.
Lapis kinda stayed in the back, and I was wondering why she was so distant. Fucking balls not again. We started packing all of our stuff up, and loaded the van. Lapis let me get in first again, and she climbed in after me. Squari got in the back through the BACKDOOR with Garnet this time, and Pearl and Amethyst hopped in the front. Pearl started the car, and off we went. I looked over at Lapis slowly, seeing how she was doing. She was looking out the window peacefully, and just as I fully turned my head to stare at her, she side-glanced me.
This startled me, and I looked down, blushing slightly. But I made sure to keep Lapis in my peripheral vision, and I noticed how she started turning her head a little more. Then without thinking, I looked back over at her, and she had this serious look on her face, staring at me. I feared that she might look away, but she never did. We just looked into each others' eyes deeply, not saying anything. I could feel my face heating up, and my legs began to tremble. Pearl and Amethyst's conversation became more inaudible, and I could hear my own heart beat.
Lapis then jerked away from the eye contact, and I raised an eyebrow as she seemed... afraid. Her lips curled down, and her hand seemed to grip the seat tighter. I stared at her for a moment, and slowly slid my hand to hers. I then gently, not to mention hesitantly, placed my hand over hers, and caressed the top of her hand with my thumb. Lapis's shoulders seemed to lose tension, and I knew I was doing something right. Although she didn't look at me, I knew she needed security. "So you guys a thing now, or what?!" Amethyst asked, turning in her seat to look at us.
I was startled by this, and felt Lapis's hand swipe away from under mine. She placed it on her thigh and she looked away, tensing up her shoulders again. "Uh well I uhm..." I stuttered, looking over at the bluenette for an answer. Were we a thing? If so why was she acting like this? Amethyst continued looking at us, waiting for an answer. "FUCK!!!" I heard Pearl shout, and it surprised me greatly hearing such profanity from her. The van swerved as a deer got in the way, but it was too late. A loud THUMP noise sounded as Pearl slammed the brakes.
I was gripping the backseat for dear life, feeling my breathing pick up. Lapis's eyes were wide open, just staring as if she were still processing what just happened. "Is everyone alright?" Pearl asked, as the van was at a full stop now. We all nodded nervously, well except for Squari. "Y-yeah... I'm alright." she said in a raspy voice. I turned around to look at her, and gasped as her face was pressed against the back window of the van, her body sprawled across the seat. "That's why you wear a seatbelt." Garnet stated, seeming unfazed by the whole incident.
Pearl opened the door and stepped out of the van to see the damages. The rest of us got out as well to get some fresh air. "nOooOoOoOoOO!!!" I heard Amethyst sob in the distance. She was kneeling next to the now dead deer, hugging it tightly. "I understand you are sad for this creature's life, but do you really have to touch it? You realize that thing could have diseases?" I asked, cringing. "IT'S NOT A THING IT WAS A GIRL NAMED TRISHA!!!" Amethyst hissed. "I don't even wanna know why you checked its gender. And Trisha?" Pearl asked. Amethyst only lowly growled at Pearl, earning a scoff from the tall woman. "Amethyst, it has antlers. I'm pretty sure it's a mal-"
"We need a funeral for her..." Amethyst intrerrupted me, sniffling. Squari was trying her hardest not to snicker, looking away. Garnet stared at the carcass with crossed arms. "I don't trust it. Look at her eyes." she muttered. "You didn't know her." Amethyst said, squirming. "Oh my stars we're gonna be out here all day." I groaned, crossing my arms. Lapis mostly stayed silent for all of this, just staring at Amethyst and the dead animal, clearly disturbed. "I am so uncomfortable on an unexplainable level." the bluenette said, continuing to stare. "We should burn Trisha. Then we could pour the ashes on some asshats back on campus!!" Squari suggested.
Amethyst only screeched in response, startling all of us. "Agh, look at the damage. What's Greg gonna say?" Pearl asked, running her fingers through her undercut hair. "We could easily just paint over it, can't we?" Garnet asked. "No, I don't think we could find any paint that would match that tone of color." I said. "You think he'll be mad?" Pearl asked. "Not if he doesn't notice. He's old." Amethyst chimed in. Pearl rolled her eyes and huffed. "Okay. We'll take the van to campus and figure out what to do with it. Then we'll take it to the beach house." the pale woman explained, putting a hand on her chin. "What about Trisha?" Amethyst asked in a sad tone of voice.
"Amethyst, leave the deer alone. We'll only make the situation worse." Pearl said. Amethyst whined, dragging it to the side of the road. "I don't wanna leave it, P!!! Look at her!!!" Amethyst blubbering, gesturing to the dead animal. Pearl looked down at it, visibly disgusted as flies surrounded it. "I have an idea." Lapis suddenly stated, and we all looked at her.
. . . .
Repeated thumps on the roof sounded the van as we continued driving to Beach City. Tris-the deer's antlers were clearly visible from the windshield, and I felt very uneasy knowing a rotting carcass was now tied down to the top of our car.
